West Des Moines is located in three Iowa counties. Residents of this area enjoy perusing the local shops at Valley Junction, which began in 1893. Today it serves as the city’s business district, flavored by undeniable community tradition. With more than 100 specialty shops, art galleries, and restaurants, there’s always something new to discover.
On the other side of West Des Moines, Jordan Creek Town Center occupies a large fashion space that includes a 3.5-acre lake and boardwalk. Many apartments are just minutes from the mall’s stores, movie theater, and lakeside restaurants. The city is located in America’s heartland and has cherished quilting since its existence. Quilt-making goes back to the 18th century in West Des Moines, and many people proudly display their creations at city craft expos.
In addition to quilting, residents of West Des Moines enjoy the local productions at Tallgrass Theatre Company on Vine Street.

Property Ratings at Chapel Ridge
Almost 3 years living here, and honestly love it. I've never felt safer in my home than I do here. I feel safe leaving my car in the lot, and there are always plenty of parking spaces. I've NEVER had a pest control issue here. Love the huge kitchen. Clean new interiors, windows aren't drafty, I've yet to use the baseboard heaters as it's always been warm and cozy enough. Having a separate wall AC in each room is Soo nice in the summer! Office staff is helpful and polite. Very responsive. Maintenance requests are taken care of in a timely manner. No problems with neighbors. All very friendly so far. Plenty of children for your kids to play with, and a decent playground. Anyone in these reviews complaining that neighbors or their kids make noise, should probably be living in a house, not apartments. Chapel Ridge West is great. My sister also rents an apartment in the area, older complex, pays hundreds more for rent, with cracked doors and old appliances, and super drafty windows that let in bugs.
all total headache and disgusting high price increasing. need to be change in lower price.
I lived here over a year. The interior and exterior is nice. The neighbors are horrible and always screaming. There are always kids playing in breezeways, pulling fire alarms, knocking on you door and taking off and playing in the middle of the street. You can go to the land lord with your matience issues and hope they get handled but the poor matience man Dan doesn’t know what he is doing half of the time when he goes in to your apartment because the land lord doesn’t tell him. ?? We went through three matience people while I was there. Oh and if you have any problems legally you should just probably call the cops and hope they handle it but good luck. I had so many issues when I lived there and the cops didn’t do anything. I will never live here again. Way to much drugs, drama, cops are here more than once a week along with fire department and just not safe. Mini Chicago!
My fiancé and I went to rent from here and had to turn a 300$ security deposit in with our application when we decided to rent from another place they kept the deposit and continued to belittle and dismiss us. Once confronted they would hang up the phone on us or start to yell. This complex is very loud and messy. Lots of kids running around of all ages with no supervision. Office is hard to contact as they never answer phones. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!
Just moved in a few months ago. Management and maintenance are very helpful and are always working to make sure the complex looks nice. There are a lot of kids, so sometimes there's trash in the yard. Some of my neighbors are rude and loud, but complaints have been handled well.
Rules are never filled or enforced. Building fire alarms are always going off. About a week ago alarms in every building went off at about 11 pm took the fire department 20min b4 arriving. Management changes about every 4 to 6 months. The manager now is very confrontational with other tenants. Makes comment such as "if you don't like it you can put your 30 day notice in and leave" very unprofessional.
I know the last review that mentions screaming, unsupervised kids and drunken and/or high idiots getting into fights is 4 months older than this comment, but I thought it would be important to mention this stuff is still happening. The landlord keeps mentioning how she's cracking down on these issues, but absolutely nothing is done about it. Oh, and if you're a pet owner? Don't worry, the pet policy is complete bull. There's a family that somehow owns a pitbull and another that owns 3 cats.
It is scary, there are cops at the apartment complex a few times a week. Just a few days ago there was a man yelling for an hour about how "The war is coming!" They showed me a nice apartment though when I moved in the one I moved in to was gross with tears in the linolium and stains on the carpet which I documented with dated pictures though now, after 3 managers in less than 1 year, they say it was my fault because they cant speak to the old managers. There are constant unsupervised children from 2yrs-late teens running the parking lot LOUD and very messy regardless of "curfew".
... If you enjoy loud screaming children running around and riding their bikes in the parking lot nearly causing you to hit them every time you pull in, inconsiderate jerks playing loud music with no repercussions, people screeching and shouting at all hours of the day and night, maintenance suddenly appearing with no warning and hearing your neighbors get into domestic violence disputes.
I have lived here for years, and this property just keeps getting worse and worse. The current landlord is curt and unreliable, openly arguing with tenents in the office in front of other tenents and talking poorly about them in front of other tenents. The Maintenance staff is not alerted until days after an issue has happened and often enter your apartment without giving you 24 hours warning. Rent continues to raise for vague reasons although there is no proof that they are using the money towards repairs on the buildings (or if they are, it is for a few tenet-damaged occurances in which the tenet should be directly billed). Two weeks ago, the entire west side of the complex was covered in fire trucks and police cars after a drug-related fire had gotten out of hand. Please, if you have children or you want to live in a place where the property managers and parent company respect you, I beg you to look elsewhere. Don't make the same mistake so many of us here have made.
very nice apartments. very clean, updated and staff super friendly.
