If you’re looking for something that’s worth your money, this isn’t the place!!! Lived here for a year and six months and I wish I could’ve left sooner.. the apartments aren’t worth the rent as they look like they haven’t been updated since 2007 my ceiling caved in after 3 months of living there, it took maintenance 3 MONTHS to fix it, I kept getting sick because there was black mold in it and they just ended up covering it up with a piece of drywall, took them a month to send someone to replace my dishwasher. The people in the office are rude, disrespectful, and so many other things, the managers are even worse, I’d steer clear from this place if I were you! I’ve yet to recommend a single person to this place, Never have never will. You’re better off finding somewhere else

The noise level is absurd. Between constant maintenance to construction that takes months you will not get any sleep. Especially if you work 2nd or 3rd shift. They also hire outside companies to handle lawn care, and they will not only spend 6 hours on a single patch of grass, but will happily shoot rocks into your windshield and cover your car in grass. Don't get me started on the incompetent maintenance crew who can't manage to fix even the most basic of issues without making several trips to your apartment, in which they will be extremely rude in the process. To top this off, they allow stoners to fill the halls with pot smoke...which goes great when you gotta go to work and risk your own job due to your clothes smelling like it. Ive been here 4 years. Between the substantially increasing price of rent and the god awful conditions I do not reccomend moving here. You'd have better quality sleep at a motel.

This place started out okay, then came the bugs, the noisy neighbor, the extremely cold townhouses , the $40 raise in rent. I would not recommend living here

I’ve lived at Charter Oaks for 3 years now and I’ve had not one issue with the company that runs it. My building is quiet and the staff are all friendly. The landscaping crew in the summer keeps the grounds beautiful and the snow crew in the winter keeps the sidewalks and parking lots as clear as they can. As soon as it snows they are there. I moved from one apartment to another because I wanted a balcony with a nice view and I got everything I wanted. It was a seemless transition from one place to another so that’s why Charter Oaks gets 5 stars. Because yes you are home!

The office staff is easy to work with and very helpful. The complex is so close to schools, grocery stores, wonderful restaurants and I69 is right around the corner. I highly recommend Charter Oaks/Shannon Manor to anyone looking in the Davison area.
It was a wonderful experience moving in, the ladies in the office were so sweet and kind and loved my dog. Fast forward to 3 Months later, I decided to apply for a 2 bedroom that was opening soon. Resubmitted EXACT SAME PAPERWORK as i previously did and they claim my dog is not allowed due to him not falling into the “breed restriction”. I continued to get the run around and the lady at the office told me my paperwork said my dog was a different breed than the original paperwork i submitted which is 100% FALSE!!! Now I have been given the choice to leave or get rid of my dog. But, I have a certain amount of days to move out but my dog cannot stay. WHERE IS MY DOG SUPPOSED TO GO?!!!!! DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!!!
I can't even get myself to give this place one star. I lived in this complex for a year and never had a problem UNTIL the day I moved out and waited for my security deposit, that's when the downward spiral began. I got the checklist on the mail with a letter informing me of a supposed cat that I had in my apartment that destroyed the carpet that they had to replace. I have never owned a cat in my life and always took care of my place. Not once did I have a complaint made about me nor did I ever miss paying rent. Along with this letter they TRIED to charge me $900 in damages and keep my deposit. It was as if they had someone walk through my apartment and completely lie on the checklist. I disputed the fees, obviously, and they threatened to take legal action. I called their bluff and contacted a lawyer. DO NOT let their rebuttal letter scare you, keep fighting! Once I, again, told them I wouldn't pay the fee and that I was in contact with a lawyer, they immediately backed down and withdrew the fees BUT kept my security deposit. I looked into district court cases and found out that they have done this to their tenants multiple times. I wasn't the first and I definitely wont be the last. I was very disappointed with this experience. I feel the need to warn people of this apartment complex and the crooked way they treat their tenants. My advice is to look elsewhere for an apartment OR if you are currently living there to make sure that the day you do move out, make sure you take pictures of your apartment and/or make one of the girls in the office walk through it with you before you hand in your keys. Spare yourself the headache and stress Zero stars!!!
Cheap to live in, but the apartment buildings themselves were in serious need of an update. Actual rooms were clean and taken care of, maintenance did a good job in between renters. They weren't fancy, but they had everything I needed. The building I lived in had a weird funk to it, and the carpets that were in the hallways needed replacement. The whole parking lot needs a redo, but they have been doing patches of work at a time to fix it. Great place to start off living, but I would not want to live there long-term.
I have lived here for two years and I have signed another year lease. I have no wish to shop around while I live in this area. The apartment I have is just fine, I have had no real issues and any maintenance issues have been taken care of within a day of calling them. They are always improving the grounds, apartments, and parking lots and fixing any weather damages within a day of the storm. The only problems I have is with people smoking near the entrances and leaving cigarette buds in the snow near them which cause a terrible smell in the spring as the snow melts. These issues could probably be taken care of if I called the office. There are also no washer and dryers in the units but that seems to be the norm for this area at this price level. Other than that I have had no real complaints or even noise issues. The apartment office management also hold a lot of events and parties for the residents.
If you are a college student on a tight budget then this is the place for you. The complex is only 10 minutes from the colleges and most of the people who rent here are students. The best part of living here is some units are heat included which saves you money. If your not a student this place has something to offer you as well. Free wifi at the pool/ club house and plots for your own personal gardening.
My apartment is nice 1 bedroom on second floor. They upkeep it well, has a pool and volleyball. Has a nice clubhouse. if you have problems they fix it right away. They keep roads plowed in winter. All around great place to rent from.
I have lived in a 1 bedroom and am currently in a 2 bedroom for a total of almost 4 years now. No, the apartments do not come with a washer/dryer hook up. However each building has a laundry room that is shared. For a wash and dry it cost $3.25. For snow, it removed almost as fast as it comes down! It's one of the things I love about this place! Management is very nice and maintenance in your home with 24 hours of calling! Management host parties often and the food is amazing!! I highly recommend it here! 4 stars for not having washer hook ups!
