Lafayette is located in southern Louisiana. It has the rich culture you would expect from a Louisiana town. Also, because it is a college town, it is very much concerned with education. People of all ages, cultures, and personality types will find that Lafayette is a pleasant place to live.
Lafayette has many beautiful neighborhoods. Different people like different areas of the city for their own reasons. However, the south side of the city is typically the most sought after. The area surrounding the University of Louisiana – Lafayette is known as the university area. This area, as well as Lafayette’s Downtown District, is more urban in nature than other parts of Lafayette. It is possible to walk to the school, local restaurants, shops, and art galleries. Broadmore is mostly residential and home to people of many different ages. This is also where the Thomas Park Recreation Center is located. Broussard, Youngsville, and Scott are small cities on the outskirts of Lafayette.

Property Ratings at Chateau Lafayette Apartments
Friendly management and maintenance. Move in ready with everything clean and in working order. I would highly recommend Chateau Lafayette Apartments to college students or young adults starting out because of reasonable monthly rent. Getting in and out is sometimes difficult because of Pinhook Road traffic; however, I heard that an alternative driving route is being worked on.
My experience living at Chateau Lafayette has been positive so far; one month in. Management is outstanding in service, maintenance is good, and I've felt safe living here. The only issue is getting in and out by car because of Pinhook Road traffic; however, until a new route is available, just leave a little earlier to get on to Pinhook Road safely. I will leave additional feedback as time progresses.
Location wise It couldn't be better. We are positioned on a virtual hub that allows easy access to all of Lafayette. Making a left can be a bit tricky when leaving Jomela Drive but there is another access point currently under construction. It Looks promising. As an added bonus; the current staffing is wonderful. Ms Glenda (General Manager) and Mr. Jimmy (Head of Maintenance) are very polite and friendly. They go out of their way to be helpful, but are also extremely respectful of a Tenant's privacy. I rate the rentals five stars based on their service alone.
Office lady is extremely unprofessional and rude. Things break all the time and nothing gets done, my AC has gone out twice, there are roaches, once there was a bee infestation and bees were all over the master bedroom. Feral raccoons and cats are all over the property day and night. They seem nice and first but I’m definitely not resigning and have been trying to get out of here for months. There have also been car break ins and a lot of homeless people on the streets since there are abandoned properties in the wooded area. Not to mention the recent construction that leaves the property loud almost 10 hours a day.
This was my very first apartment. I chose here because it was affordable and was close to UL campus. Be aware that you get what you pay for. Lower rates mean lower class tenants. Some of the neighbors were sketchy and made me feel a little uncomfortable. However, the apartments are nice and mostly updated. Never had an issue with noise and never had to call maintenance. The pool is a very nice touch and the location is great. Office hours are pretty inconvenient but with new management this is now a smaller problem. Not many amenities as compared to other complexes and the no pet rule is a bummer. Overall, decent first apartment.
Great rent prices. The rent did not go up my first three years but then went up twice in one year by $25 each time. It is an older property but well maintained. There is absolutely no dog barking or dog messes in the common areas due to this being a pet free community. Management isn't super friendly but they get the job done. Maintenance is very professional, hard-working, and friendly. My only issue is that exterior lights go out and it takes months for them to replace.
