Property Ratings at Cherrywood Apartments
Bothell location. If you are staying on top floor you are lucky. But on any other floor you can hear someone walking from the floor above your apartment. And that is so annoying it feels like someone is hammering on your head. I complained every time it was unbearable. I sent videos as well to the management in which they could clearly hear it. And guess what!!! They stopped responding. Horrible experience. Beware of this.
I live in Cherrywood now (April 2018), and have been here about 8 months. My experience has been is different than the previous reviewer. I agree the apartments are built with inexpensive materials—but everything is in working order, and if you can tighten a cabinet knob with a philips screwdriver, you'll be OK. We did have an issue with our furnace not working, and we didn't realize it until it was cold enough to turn it on. The maintenance guy came out the same day we reported it and checked it out, and found it would need to be solved by a pro. (He also brought us a space heater, we had one of our own and we still had the gas fireplace to heat the main floor.) The company that was supposed to fix it was flaky and several days went by—so I reported it again. When maintenance realized it hadn't been fixed, they immediately called another company and they were in either the same day or the next day to fix it. Other minor things that needed attention—a light fixture that needed a bulb replaced was so tight that I couldn't unscrew it to change the bulb. And a leak behind a living room wall (an issue with the fire sprinkler system) that was also taken care of quickly. The property and parking—the guys who maintain it do a nice job. Bushes are pruned, grass is mowed, new bark put in, debris cleaned up after windstorms, etc. I have not noticed an abundance of spiders, in or out. Pollen, and kids playing with it—can't do much about that, there are trees around here. Noise from the road—not more than any other complex near a busy arterial. Parking fills up, but there are always a few spots at the end of the complex, hardly far to walk since it's a small complex. The church next door has a large grass area between it and our parking lot. It's divided with a low fence. Kids play out there Sundays after church, and a couple of weeknights. They don't wander into the complex or parking lot, they haven't caused any trouble. They're mostly younger kids running around and laughing and adults are nearby keeping an eye on them. There is a worship band that practices, and you can hear them, but it's not loud, it's just hearing drums and guitars in the distance, not bothersome, and not all the time. I haven't been here long enough to see how renewing a lease is handled or what an increase in rent is like. I give the place 2 thumbs up. 4 stars from me.
This review is based on the Cherrywood Apartments at 730 207th Pl. SE, so the same complex run by the same company. I really regret renting here. A summary: The Apartment: Don't be fooled by the (admittedly nice) floorplan. The apartment is actually very shoddily built and made of cheap materials, like someone thought "I bet I can build an entire apartment complex using only materials available at Walmart!" My ceiling lights started leaking once. The Grounds: The property is poorly maintained, with trash and animal feces strewn about. Parking can be an issue if you get home after 8 pm or so. In the spring, the pollen on the ground was so thick kids used it to make snowballs (pollenballs?). In the fall, there are large spiders all over the exterior of the property. To be fair, I rarely found spiders inside my apartment, but I did still get bitten. Those suckers pack a mean bite. The noise: One side of the apartment faces a road that sounds like it's used as a drag race site -- I've been on the phone with windows closed and had callers complain about the noise. The noise on the other side of the apartment, facing the parking lot, isn't as bad, but can still be bothersome. The management: The worst part of this experience has been management's "what're you gonna do about it?" attitude toward resident concerns. A few examples: - My dishwasher stayed broken for a month because the repair company they wanted to work with was busy and the property manager couldn't be bothered to call another company. It still wasn't fixed by the time I moved out. - Despite putting a "right to renew at the same price" clause into many, if not all, of our leases, they sent out a letter telling residents our rent would increase sharply, and offering to increase it slightly less if we signed a sheet agreeing to the increase. The property manager later told me they rescinded the increase only for residents who specifically complained that it breached their lease. - I'm still fighting to get my security deposit back. They told me they sent it to the right address, only to admit much later that they hadn't. More than a month after moving out, I still haven't seen a penny. - It's their standard practice to withhold from residents' deposits to pay for professional cleaning, whether or not there are damages beyond normal wear and tear. Bottom line, this has been a terrible company to work with. I can only hope they treat their residents better in the future.
