Property Ratings at Cherrywood Apartments
We just moved out. We stayed there for 7 months and left the place cleaner than found. They inspected the home twice and told us the condition is good and may need some touch up. But once we left the place, they are charging us for partial paint which costs three times the touch up cost! There is no sign in the apartment where partial paint is required. They can touch up with paint as they had told us in the inspection. But they will do everything to cut a big chunk of your deposit.
The apartment offers low rent. That was the main reason I rented it. However, the drive to most high-tech companies in the Bay Area would be stressful from the apartment. I worked in Santa Clara and it takes me 45 minutes to 1 hour each way to work and back to home. Also, my unit is upstairs and the heat is trapped inside the apartment when I come home, turning it into an Inferno. The AC is not thermostat controlled and it is not a central (it does not have vent inside the bedroom) so it does not help during the hot days.
Very nice apartment complex . It's always clean and very well maintained. Pool is beautiful and hot tub is wonderful. Parking is a little challenging if you have more than one car since you only get one designated space. Its especially nice that there is a 24 hour roving security guard. Overall experience living here has been nothing but wonderful!
I have lived at Cherrywood Apartments in San Jose twice. I came back because it is a really good blend of everything. It is located within walking distance of some good restaurants, a short drive to almost store you could need and you can get to highways 85, 87, 101, 280, 680, 17 and 880 all within 10 minutes. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The apartments are good sized and compared to the going market rate Cherrywood is also reasonably priced.
Nice area to live, conveniently located close to multiple shopping areas and park. There is a 24 hour roving security guard which a nice. Parking can be horrible at times. Overall it's a beautiful place to live.
Cherrywood is a nice apartment in a great area. Everything you need (shopping, Oakridge mall, restaurants, freeway) is close by. The apartment is bigger than most places, is safe, and the leasing agents are all helpful!

Conveniently located next to two freeways, plenty of shops within walking distance and the mall is less than two miles away. The complex is 35 years old, just old enough to be rent controlled, anything newer is not. The maintenance is outstanding,even on weekends, and there is a night safety patrol. There are numerous large tress and small courtyards, it feels like a park. The complex has two solar heated pools with plenty of chairs and tables and two hot tubs. Two nicely equipped exercise rooms and numerous laundry rooms (a load of laundry is only $2.75 to wash and dry). There are carports to keep the sun off your vehicle. The walls are bit thin but our neighbors are nice. You could spent more for nicer interior at other apartments but you would miss the location and greenery here.
Cherrywood has lots of floor plans, most of which are listed on the website. My husband and I have lived here for about 6 or 7 years. The apartments are on both sides of Cherry Avenue - Side A and Side B. The apartments themselves are pretty standard. The heating and AC are room units, usually with one in the livingroom and one in the bedroom. The units are all electric, which is nice not having to pay for gas when the PG&E bill comes around! In the last few years, the managent has gotten increasingly more family friendly. Hosting tenant appreciation days and mini carnivals at the pool. The apartments and grounds are well maintained by a very nice maintenance staff. There are also private security guards that patrol the grounds at night. The current cost of rent is market rate for San Jose, which is fairly high, but consistent with the area and the amenities offered here. Our growing family will continue to live here for the foreseeable future. I like living in this little community. Once you get to know people, it really feels like home.
The apartments are nice, you can get an accent wall painted for free with lease. Area is in nice neighborhood that is conveniently located near all shopping and park. They have a roving security guard 24 hours which is nice. Only thing I would change is more storage space inside apartment and washer and dryer hook ups. Overall I am happy living here.
A nice place to live in this area. There is a playground, BBQ area, gym, in a nice amount of trees, flowers and lawns. Maintained well and clean. Parking can be a challenge at times but for the most part its available. Every year we enjoy a resident picnic and other holiday festivities..
