Rancho Cordova is one of the Sacramento area’s biggest business centers, attracting thousands of commuters from around the region every day. The active commercial sector makes it highly convenient spot for in-town professionals, and the close proximity to Sacramento makes it an appealing community for folks who work in and around the capital city as well.
While industry is a major part of the local character, the environment is surprisingly suburban, with extensive quiet neighborhoods, playgrounds, and shopping centers all over town. Locals love to spend time in the numerous public parks along the American River, as well as up the road at Folsom Lake and Eldorado National Forest.

Property Ratings at Chesapeake Commons Apartments
Water is constantly being shut off. They give short notices for home improvement. The office will never answer their phones or return your calls. Poor construction of units. Parking space have doubled in prices. There are insect infestations that don’t get resolved quickly. Steer clear of this complex if you can. Water is constantly being shut off
This is the worst complex I’ve ever lived at. There’s trash everywhere, dog poop left all around the grass, too many homeless people coming around and leaving their trash everywhere, and there are car break-ins across the street! The worst part is management does NOT care about ANY of these things. All they say is call the police SMH. They won’t do a thing but make sure you pay your rent every month. Don’t let the outside looks of the apartment fool you: this place is a slump! Move elsewhere!
There's a lot to say here. They're only helpful when you're trying to move in. Maintenance is OK depending on who you get to respond. My first months rent was prorated, I gave the appropriate 60 days notice to vacate once the lease was nearing being done. The notice they had me sign had the exact amount owed in rent through the remainder of the lease. When it came time to pay the final prorated amount, their website and app was charging me for the FULL months rent without an option to change it. I emailed and called and when I was finally able to speak to someone (after leaving messages and waiting on hold upwards of 15 mins multiple times) they said it's an issue with the system not doing prorated rent correctly. I had to hand in a final check for the correct amount in person. And then because they never fixed their system, they left me a 3 day notice to pay or vacate on my door for the remaining amount even though I already paid the exact amount owed. Again, I tried emailing and calling without any response or return call and just had to show up in person to get anywhere. They explained that it was a mix up in the system but it's not good business practice to leave defective threatening notices like that on tenants who paid every single dime of rent on time before that. No one tried to contact me at all about this before leaving the threatening notice. Also, I've tried calling NUMEROUS times, left messages and still could not get a call back. When you call and someone from the office doesn't answer, it goes to some answering service that does not help you at all, they just take messages for calls that are never returned. Oh and expect 90% of your security deposit to be kept.
Awesome management. If something needs fixing they fix it within 1hr or 2. They have re- painted all the apartment complexes, repaired the roof before raining season, the trees and grass are always being maintained. Management makes you feel like family. One time I needed help with carrying groceries up to my door, and they were nice and brought it up.
Property Manager at Chesapeake Commons Apartments, Responded To This Review
Hello there, we appreciate you taking the time to leave us this feedback. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you; we are more than happy to help! Take care!
Management team is worthless and the property manager Ana is rude. ABSOLUTELY Don’t waste your time moving here!
This placeis horrible cats roaming the property, poop inthe grass and if you are on the bottom beware of the stomping tenants above you. I've complained to management several times the reply was they are moving soon and they did; however, the new tenants are just as bad if not worse. Car windows have been busted out 2x less than a year. I have been living her over 2 years and have NEVER seen security even when I called them. Management team worthless
Beautiful apartments! I feel safe walking in the community, day and night. My apartment is beautiful and it set a high standard if I move. The little posts with dog poop bags are great when I forget my baggies. The landscaping is always kept nicely. Everyone who visits me compliments the apartments and even think of moving in. Parking isn't usually an issue unless I try to park late in the day. I have full confidence in getting maintenance done in a timely matter and someone has always come back after the service was done to double check the work. The rent is a bit high for a one bedroom but in the range of the other apartments in the area and probably the best in the neighborhood. Great area to go on runs, not too busy. Overall I love living here and love how pet friendly it is!
I wish I can give zero stars. This is place is horrible and their staff members are very dishonest. When I moved out I left the place in squeaky and great condition, they sent me a bill and made up damages that never existed so that they will not pay my deposit. I have never had any issue with any apartment after moving out. In fact I always get my depositi back. They made up charges and even said I owed them so money. They gave a time frame to dispute the extra charges but did not wait till the deadline before sending me to collections. They are not straight forward. They have hidden fees and their maintenance people never come in time. Stay AWAY!!!
prices for a 1 bedroom is now unstoppable. every 6 months renewal prices would go up by more than a hundred dollars. i started living here 8 years ago, i can understand the prices going up by $20-$40 every renewal. somehow this year's prices are wildly going up, from February of 2015 to September of 2015 my rent went up by $126.00. now my rent is $926.16 for the same 1 bedroom that i rented 8 years ago. lets not get disoriented, this apartments were not the luxury type, this are cheap apartments whose rent has gone up dramatically like paying a 2 bedroom luxury apartment. i just got a letter stressing that my rent will go up by another $126.00 come march of this year, from $926.16 to $1,002.16. this is a time frame of 6 months. how can you afford to live in a place whose prices are constantly and outrageously going up every 6 months by more than a hundred dollars. this management are pretty disillusioned to keep jacking up the prices beyond what the rent rate should be. i just checked their prices for one bedroom, it shows $904.00, I am now paying $926.16, more than the actual price. I was just wondering if there is a an entity that would regulate the prices of this apartments and not by what was asked by the leasing manager. I know leasing agent makes their money through commission, let's face it, some agent are pretty dissent, some are just too plain greedy. i was able to stay in this apartment for long years simply because it is still affordable for me, but this year this management is forcing me to look for another apartment who is more in tuned in reality. i don't mind paying this much money for a rent if only this place is half way descent, this is like leasing a Toyota Yaris for the price of a Lexus. let's not forget to include a more than 20 year old carpet, a microwave that functions funky, maintenance guys took out the exhaust pipe in the kitchen simply because the microwave they used to replace the original one is not the right one. now my blower is simply blowing the air back to the kitchen and living room whenever i cook. my stove that took forever before they finally replaced it simply because the stove pose a hazard has a short and it starts to burn by itself due to electrical wiring going bad.
Cheseapeake was an ok place to live...I'm still there until Nov. 30th. but after having NUMEROUS issues with the water main outside and having our water shut off too many times to count, its time to let go. My other issue is that now they're charging $15 per blind to replace missing or broken blinds in the unit. This nickle and dime business practice is what has driven me to look elsewhere.
Great apt layout with a comfy feel. However, the outside neighborhood is just mediocre with some rowdy noises. It's still a good price for what it is, although the price is raised every year.
I have lived here for about two years. I have never had any major issues. The maintenance team is always very responsive and professional. The office staff is usually helpful, never too busy. The apartments are surrounded by a ton of businesses, so the area is pretty quiet. It's close to a town center for food and shopping. The location is great as well it's pretty close to the freeway access. Overall I loved living here, it's a bit pricey but you pay for what you get.
Great community, apartments have lots of space and huge closets!
Not the best but it's a start. My boyfriend and I had no rental experience but Chesapeake accepted Us based on credit. Our apartment is basically falling apart. Our rent was raised after the first year. Other then maintenance the community was pretty great.
Paying water is a part of renting here at Chesepeake...however I've found that the Bond Program they have is invaluable if you're struggling to get bills paid. The Bond program assist you in lowering your water costs. Great program and came at the right time.! Look into it.
