Property Ratings at Chesapeake Village Apartments
I have lived here for 2 years. Maintenance only patched up a job and takes forever to come. The on site laundromat is a nightmare constantly dirty, washees here and dryers don't work. It is a low income complex. Quality of residents is very poor. Drug selling in the parking lots do not rent here. You can get better apartments worth your money.
First there is no security. You have criminals in the complex that arent on the lease . Only place that has cameras is the office. Tennants have no security. My clothes were taken out of a washer and just dumped on the side. My clothes smelled of mildew. I advise anyone who wants to rent here to stay away.
If I could have given a half a star or no stars then I would have. This is the worst place I have ever lived. I have been here 4 years and this week the 4th new buyer is taking over. The first year I was here they actually fixed some of the things that were broken but the last year it has gotten dangerous to live here. It started with electrical problems. Then black mold in the bathroom. We had squirrels living in the roof last winter and maintenance laid poison and the squirrels died in the roof. This summer birds have been flying in the roof and living in the walls. They are getting trapped and dying in there. My cat diggs at the bedroom wall all night because both her and I hear something in the wall. I have complained about the smell in my bedroom because something is rotting in the wall and they refuse to do anything about it. For about a year the building next door to us have been battling bed bugs. We saw one or two in my apartment last Christmas. They sent someone out and told us that they couldn't successfully heat the building until spring. We got our first heat treatment in June. The people above us moved out because the bugs were so bad in their apartment and they had a new born baby. The apartment that is next to me has been empty for about 6 months. I heard thru the grapevine that they were evicted due to house keeping issues. I have heard that it is so dirty and full of bugs that neither maintenance or the electricians will enter that apartment. The bugs are coming into my apartment because of that one and the one above me. A few weeks ago I had a stain on my bedroom ceiling along with another putrid smell. This is around the air conditioning vent. Once again, Maintenance refuses to help. I did a mold test and it showed positive for black mold in the air. This explains why myself and daughters have been so ill. Between the bug bites and the mold we have spent a lot of time at the doctor. Even our cat has been sick. The health department has cited them and will be back in about a week. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. All they care about is their rent money and refuse to make it a safe and healthy place for families to live in.
Have lived here for three years and have not had any trouble with neighbors or crime. Only trouble we've had has been with the office and in light of recent events (someone went in the office and started shooting people...) I think that problem has been taken care of. The complex has been through 4 different management companies since we moved in and this has been the longest one kept. They've made some improvements to the grounds (an excuse to increase rent, I'm sure). It's a nice, quiet place to live. I would definitely recommend it - as long as you're not afraid to be a little pushy with the office staff when needed.
