Known for rugged hills and rolling countryside mixed with developed areas called boroughs, the southern portion of Allegheny County remains a beautiful compliment to nearby city life in Pittsburgh. Located about 14 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, it takes about an hour to reach the city's center. One of Pennsylvania’s largest areas, South Allegheny consists of several towns and suburbs set in an idyllic landscape. Great destinations include historic Kennywood Park, which first opened in 1899 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Property Ratings at Chestnut Ridge Apartments
Thia place is full of mice, for your own good do not rent here
I've lived here for about 9 months now in the smallest 1 b/1b unit on the top level. It's an older model with the original design which was cheaper than a renovated unit. The kitchen and bathroom show their age with older cabinets and appliances but they all function well and I haven't had any issues. The positives: -Location. Close to everything in Robinson, Market District, 376, the city, the airport, etc. -Parking, I never have an issue finding a spot close to my door. -Second story skylights are a very nice touch -The community. There is a very diverse population of younger, older, singles and families here. Very friendly and welcoming community and also very pet-friendly. -Having your own outside entrance instead of a common building entrance. I see this as a plus. -Maintenance seems to be responsive and helpful. I've had a few minor issues and they were resolved quickly. The negatives: -Noise. These apartments are not at all soundproof. I hear my downstairs neighbor constantly through the floor when they're just talking. When they close their door it shakes my entire wall. The windows are thin and let noise in from outside. I hear constant thumping sounds from the neighbors next to me that have woken me up before. If peace and quiet is important to you, I would definitely take this into consideration. -The windows are very old and drafty. You can literally feel your money being sucked out the window during the winter when you get within a few feet of them. I found several cracks in the window frames when I moved in as well. -Older units that show their age. When I moved in the carpet in my apartment had evidence of several stains that were attempted to be removed and the carpet is ripped up in several corners. There is also peeling paint on some of the walls and doors. Overall living here is okay, the poor soundproofing is my biggest issue and would be the reason I potentially may not renew. I can't speak for the lease renewal process or the amenities as it isn't time for me to renew yet and I haven't really taken advantage of any of the amenities.
Location is great, right off of the highway but still quiet and cozy. Super close to a lot of restaurants and shopping centers. Spacious neighborhood, nice pool, and I always felt safe even on the first floor. Noise level wasn’t bad. I couldn’t hear my upstairs neighbor that much. And can’t hear the next-door neighbors at all from the inside. Maintenance and staff always answered requests within a few hours. Very friendly. Something to consider: I lived in the smallest size 1 bed 1 bath and some of those units still have the old 1985 style kitchen. At the time I thought the location was worth it but I don’t see a lot of apartment complexes without a recently renovated kitchen these days so I decided to move out when I found a similar price for a nicer kitchen. I also had a small mouse problem in my kitchen. Maybe if it had been recently updated, the problem could have been fixed. All flooring and appliances were old. The mouse was coming in from the holes for the pipes/electric behind the oven and the fridge. The floor was kind of gross too and peeling in some areas. Overall, if I could’ve afforded a bigger place with a nicer kitchen, I would have stayed.
I stayed here for 2 years in a 1 bed, 1 bath apt on the 2nd floor. It's a great deal, the price is reasonable, the amenities are good, and the location is excellent. The bad (what youre reading for): -Windows: Most important. Windows do not seal very well; you can feel air coming in during the winter, plus some bugs. Noise also leaks somewhat, if someone is under talking, you'll hear them. Don't let this be a deal breaker, just keep it in mind -Bugs: Honestly not too bad. You'll primarily see a couple types, stinkbugs, house centipedes, and spiders. Pest control came to the complex every other Tuesday and can come to your apt on request. You likely won't need them -Size: I stayed in a 600 sqft, and it felt like it. A lot of the walls are at weird angles so you have more limited space to place things like a tv or a shelf. The bathroom has a good counter but it does get a bit cramped The good: -Location: This place is perfectly Robinson Town Center. You can get to most stores within 5-10 minutes, and there is Giant Eagle down the hill. Despite being near the highway, the hills mean you won't hear it, but are able to get on it quickly. The actual complex is on a hill by itself with a quiet hotel. Feels very safe and no thru traffic, so it's quiet and you can walk around. No room to build anything else so you don't have to worry about construction noises -Building: The buildings built to last. The floors are solid and good soundproofing between units. I lived on the 2nd floor, and I highly recommend it. Skylights there light up the living space and kept me cheerful in the winter. Cliche but nice not needing lights or open blinds during the day for a bright living room. I miss that the most -Washer and Dryer: They're full size, individual units. If you haven't prioritized these, you really should. Laundry is a breeze -Amenities: They have a pool, tennis court, and gym. The pool and patio are nice. The gym is a bit small and the machines are a little older, but they all function well -Maintenance: Very prompt. They're on site daily and respond quick to anything you need fixed -Management: Sounds a bit shill-y, but management here is great and professional -Rent: Reasonable increase per year, +$50 on lease renewal, and that's much better than most -Internet: Verizon and Comcast (Xfinity). Complex specific reps for a better deal. Verizon offers Gigabit if you're into that Summary: Great location and price. My takeaway is that I'd happily live there again
