Property Ratings at Churchill
The location of this apartment is what immediately drew us in to renting and we couldn’t wait to get moved in. Upon moving in the blinds were not even put up and were on the floor in the living room, and patches of the wall that had clearly just been repaired had not been repainted yet. At this point we were so excited to move in that we just accepted it and sent in a service request that was responded to fairly quickly. It went downhill fairly quickly from here. We have had cockroaches to the point of having our apartment fumigated, water leaks that required tearing up carpet, constant issues with the elevators (multiple people have also been stuck in elevators for extended time periods), and having to deal with 1 laundry room for 30+ floors of tenants. This is touted as a “luxury” apartment but it certainly is not that. And do not fall for the free parking gimmick. There is a very small surface lot that they market as free parking but it is constantly full and you’ll be stuck either paying for street parking, waiting long periods of time for a spot, or paying for a garage parking spot. With all that said, the maintenance team has always been awesome but they clearly have their hands full.
Moving from TN to MN, Churchill apartment was a wonderful place to stay. Specifically their 2 patio apartments having both city view and the river side view at the same time. The apartments have lots of closet space and good enough space to set all your furniture in. It a wonderful view from the apartment while you sip a nice cup of coffee or enjoy the snow. Kitchen is very spacious and lots of cabinets. The Churchill management are very welcoming and lovely people. Special thanks to Jamie to help in a seamless transition to our new home here. Trevor and Jamie make a great team providing best tenant services and organizes lot of events for the tenants. The apt maintenance services are prompt and diligent and well managed through their property manager app. I have lived here for almost 2 years and had a great experience. They managed the COVID situation very well. The apt has good security and feels safe compared to other apt in Minneapolis downtown. Less noise pollution of the city as it’s closer to the river. Only once I had a an experience of bike theft. Apart from that it’s great place to live in.
I’ve lived in the Churchill now for about 1.5 years. I have obnoxious neighbors that play their music extremely loud. I’ve reported these people many times to management. They were quiet the last couple of weeks, but then started up again today. Security told me that they can’t do anything, and to call the police. Why should I call the police to an apartment that states it is a luxury building? My bathroom on the other side continuously smells like smoke, despite having residents sign a non-smoking agreement.
Property Manager at Churchill, Responded To This Review
Dear Resident, I have reached out to you through several channels to discuss the resumption of music and smoking issues with your neighbors. So far we have not heard from you. We agree, that every one of our residents deserves the right to reasonable quiet, and a smoke-free environment. These issues are definitely a violation of our lease terms. And while these situations are very frustrating, they are often complicated to enforce. We are required to experience the situation first hand in order to positively identify the source. If you would please call or stop by my office as soon as possible, we can discuss the quickest and best steps to getting this situation resolved for you. We appreciate your feedback and we definitely want to help return your Churchill home experience to the quality of luxury living you expect from us daily. Troy Baghun, Property Manager
I was faced with the challenge of abruptly moving from Boston to Minneapolis during a national pandemic. Needless to say, the timing was less than desirable; however, the Churchill staff made this as literally painless as moving could be. They were incredibly prompt and communicated well, had so much patience with my questions, concerns and virtual touring. Once moved in, they were so incredibly hospitable - really went above and beyond (while displaying proper social distancing recommendations) to give me everything I needed to make the move in as stress free as possible. I would do it all over again - the staff is incredible and my apartment view is just breathtaking :)
Let me start off by saying that The Churchill is actually one of the few tallest residential buildings left in Downtown Minneapolis. It has many great amenities and luxury renovations despite its age. I have been here for over a year and I can say with confidence that you would love calling The Churchill your home as you have connected skyways, shops and breathtaking views. People complain about Management but I feel that anywhere you live, you’ll complain or find something to complain about. I have had issues but I never let that get in the way of the actual living experience here. Work orders were always done fast, packages are secure, security is on point and Staff is always helpful. This building is about 33 stories high with 370+ units, so I think Management is doing the best they can for a residence this large. You cannot judge a residence, restaurant or anything based on one issue or moment, you should look at the experience as a whole. Overall, I am making a review based on my living experience and I would recommend it to anyone looking for their new home.

Thank you for your fantastic review of our Churchill community. We’re definitely pleased to hear that you’re enjoying your experience as a member of our awesome resident family, and we hope you’ll always let us know how we can help to make this your best home ever! Needless to say, you’ve already pretty much nailed it with your list of the exciting amenities and benefits of a Churchill life, and we hope you’ll continually be as enthusiastic about them as you are right now. Thanks again for choosing to make this downtown gem your home. The Churchill Management Team
Very horrible management.Best place to live but management is the worst thing in churchil
Property Manager at Churchill, Responded To This Review
Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback on our recent performance, and for those nice things you had to say about The Churchill as your home. One of the biggest challenges we face as property managers is trying to satisfy all of the needs and wishes of each of our residents. And while we’d love to always make everyone happy, too often there are schedule conflicts, policies and procedures and the overall fairness to the entire community, that make granting some requests impossible at the time. In this instance we’re pleased to have had the opportunity to actually sit down and discuss your issue with you. And even though we weren’t able meet your specific needs at this time, we will definitely keep your comments in mind for future consideration. The Churchill Management Team
If you're going to live downtown and you're going to rent, why would you pay a premium and NOT be on the skyway system? The Churchill took a dated 1981 building and modernized its interior spaces taking subtle queues from all the brand new properties that are popping up around the area. It isn't the fanciest most trendy property in downtown, but if you want a clean, modern and amenity packed building that is skyway connected AND has 7' x 14' balconies (with pretty stellar views) then this is a good option for you. The prices reflect the fact that they aren't a newly constructed property, but be prepared to be at the low end of the ballpark to the prices of newer buildings. I also have to say after living in a few high rise communities in downtown Minneapolis, the Churchill is one of the more prompt communities to address issues....plus it was nice to see that they have an aggressive pest control policy that includes two building-wide canine inspections per year to proactively sniff out issues like bed bugs, etc. Trust me...most any other building will wait for the complaint of a bed bug issue to be reported before acting (and then you have an infestation to snuff out)...this practice is a good thing. Final note...there are only two 2-bedroom units per floor (corner units) which means there are a lot of 1-bedroom options....including two corner unit 1-bedroom floorplans with TWO balconies....awesome value.
Late 1980's building. Great views and outdoor spaces on the upper floors. Has Skyway access. The apartment it itself is pretty "pedestrian". Builder grade appliances and finishes. Amenities (pool, gym, etc.) are average/adequate.
