Property Ratings at Circa Apartments
The office staff is terrible at communication when there is an issue. When it comes to maintenance requests, it can take several weeks to get the task/appliance fixed (1-2 weeks to even get the request addressed)
Staff were very kind and I witnessed the maintenance people being friendly with residents.
First I called Circa and spoke to Ian (who I later found out was a call center). We went over everything and I asked him several questions. I wanted to make sure that my MASTIFF (read NOT a Canary Mastiff) was allowed. He assured me she was. So, I wanted to set up an appointment to view the apartments. He asked me if I could come in on Friday at 5:30pm for the last viewing of the day. I was quite aware I’d be the last, but I figured they’d at least spend enough time to show us a couple of apartments. Emily was the property manager who had us for her appointment. She also assured us that Mastiffs were allowed, after even reviewing it on their company tablet. We were looking for a cost efficient apartment. I wasn’t sure if I wanted a studio or a one bedroom, so I wanted to start at the smaller apartment first to see if it would fit our needs. It was ok, but I wanted to see something bigger. So, we go to get the keys for the apartment. I want to mention here that both my husband and I kept seeing her giving us the stink face for some reason. She goes into the office and shortly comes out, while her supervisor was rushing to leave. She then notifies us that her supervisor told her mastiffs aren’t allowed even though all their websites say they do. What kind of pet friendly apartment doesn’t take a MIXED mastiff? She has no aggressive breeds and we have a DNA test to back it up. I wouldn’t be leaving this review if she wasn’t so weird and if I hadn’t spent over two hours traveling, researching, calling and looking at the facilities. Ridiculous. She should have just told us she wanted us to leave if she wanted to go and we could have picked up the next week. Or I also could have been told we weren’t a good fit and I would have taken that too. But no, all of a sudden my dog is inconveniently banned. Lol is all I can say after having to waste all this time doing all that and now writing this review. Don’t expect to be treated well by Emily. Also, she was bumbling several times, dropping her keys, taking 45 seconds to finish a sentence. Weird behavior. Such a bad experience.
In writing an honest review, you want to be as transparent as possible. I have to say that I do not agree with the location of the dog park. It was put in a horrible location by the pool. I do feel like the community has an overwhelming amount of pets. Aside from it seeming like DogCity I have enjoyed living at Circa. I am most thankful for the responsiveness of the office and maintenance team whenever I have needed them. The location of the community cannot be beat and some of the best shopping and eateries are very close nearby; within walking distance. If you do decide to rent at Circa, you will have a hard time enjoying the pool in the summer due to the nuisance of the dog park.

I'm sorry to hear that you don't appreciate where we chose to place the off-leash dog park and I hope you'll still be able to enjoy the pool once it opens again for the season. We are proud to be a pet-friendly community and wanted to offer the dog park as a perk for our furry residents, and we felt that that location was the best option available. Please let us know if anyone seems to be abusing it, or not being the responsible pet owner we expect all our residents to be. Being a long term resident at Circa and renewing my lease for another year has allowed me to reflect. To reflect on all of the positive changes that have happened and why I am choosing to continue living here. Some of my favorite recommendations and reasons why I love living here are the dog park, FREE dog wash station, pool table, free monthly resident events, very welcoming staff and efficiently responsive maintenance staff. Earnest is my favorite! He is my guy!

This is the nicest apartment my wife and I have ever lived in. The units are top-notch, roomy and aesthetically pleasing. They keep the apartments updated (we just got new floors this year), and the complex is very clean. The staff are super nice and helpful. There are all of the amenities you need (package room, dog park, valet trash, etc.), and they keep adding more. Whenever we've had an issue, maintenance has been incredibly quick. We make appointments for them to come while we're gone, and when we come home everything is fixed. Our dogs love it here as well--there are always treats in the lobby, there's a pet washing station, and it's right by an amazing doggie daycare. The location couldn't be better. It's one block off Mass Ave, so you get all the benefits of Mass Ave but without the noise. Honestly we don't have any complaints!

I recently moved in to Circa. I feel that its only fair to share my experience thusfar. The Circa team has gone above and beyond by providing me with great customer service. My most recent experience was a payment problem that that manager quickly assisted me with. The service team is quick and the office staff respond promptly. Did I mention all of the great amenities offered to their residents. Looking forward to the next monthly event so I can meet more of my neighbors. Great experience at Circa ever since I moved here last year. The JVM staff is extremely helpful, friendly and accommodating. The complex was recently upgraded and the new amenities (dog park, dog washing station, office space with printer, coffee bar, and beautiful interiors) are awesome! I lived at Circa for 3 years. Location was amazing. Amenities were even better… I’m not sure if you can even have more. The Maker’s Room was my favorite and the most unexpected (area to work on projects), gift wrapping, coffee, gym, pool, dog park (new), variety of parking options/costs, safe package pickup, locked bike rooms (even though someone stole my rear tire from one), trash pickup, grills. I had a positive experience with the transition from Milhaus to JVM. Christina and her team have been awesome and made huge improvements… they are friendly and get to know you personally. In general they keep up with all the minor details: coffee is ALWAYS stocked (even during construction they made a temporary location for the coffee with an external jug of water w/pump… above and beyond!), wrapping paper always stocked, the common halls/carpets were always cleaned/fresh smelling in my experience. Never had problems with maintenance (but never had anything break really). They always organize community events which are often catered and provide drinks too. I lived in a 2 bedroom in the ‘yellow’ building. I liked the design and layout. I thought the price was reasonable. Never had issues with anything breaking in the apartment. I only moved to try something new and now that I have, I realize all the amenities that I took for granted while living there. Overall awesome place to live! It’s a shame people are such complainers.

Very difficult to communicate with, numerous unanswered phone calls and emails. When moving out, leasing office tried to charge me for total carpet replacement in both bedrooms when only one room had damaged carpet. They claimed it was their policy to keep carpets matching wear and tear. This is an illegal renting practice in Indiana. A renter does not have to pay for normal wear and tear. After calling them out on this “policy”, the charges were dropped but I was made to feel I was cheating them out of their money. As a resident of two years, this left an extremely bad taste in my mouth. Other amenities of the apartment complex were nice and the location was great. My bike was stolen twice (locked and kept in their indoor bike storage area) however I won’t blame that one on the leasing office.
Losing packages. Can’t figure out how to complete basic maintenance requests. Holding events for the public in our private lounge. Trash valet service used to be excellent. Now we have to wash our trash can every time it comes back because it’s completely covered in a white film. Dog poop everywhere. Dog poop bags not being refilled. Doors not unlocking to get into the building. Incredibly unprofessional staff. No sense of urgency to do anything. Hard to reach the front desk since it goes to an automated service now. Extremely LOUD neighbors. Sound goes straight through floors and walls. College students are your neighbors. Management could care less.
It's been unfortunate to live in a place where the administration lacks common sense and basic customer service skills. Since day 1, there's been one issue after another, all handled in a customary passive-aggressive manner. It's silly to watch.
I couldn't ask for a better building! It's located in one of the hottest areas downtown - right off Mass Ave and the Cultural Trail! Just steps away from all the bars and restaurants you need. Beyond that -ultra modern, pool, in-unit laundry, workout room, fire pit, community space- what more could you want? Tons of Indy young professionals call these apartments home and always planning events and welcoming new tenants to the community here!
