Citadel - Free Utilities

It's our last night in this complex and if we could've left sooner we would have. Rent is reasonable even w two pets so the affordability is fine. The problem is the management. They barely give notice on new things being added and when they do it's too late, we put in a work order for roaches in our bathroom and they never showed up and marked it as done, our door swings open when left unlocked, and its even more difficult to lock the door cause the actual lock on the door is uneven, the swamp coolers are completely useless and it's controlled w light switches so you cant put it on a setting and even when left on high all day and night, it still climbs to above 85° in the unit in the summer, the floors were installed poorly where even if we move furniture around it will lift the peel-and-stick, fake wood flooring up, the counters aren't leveled, we can't activate the cooler or the heater manually, the maintenance men "need" to be the ones to do it, a tree got torn down during a storm MONTHS ago and they still have done nothing about it, the gym has NO fans or air conditioning, and only a handful of washer and dryer's actually work in the laundry room. This complex is extremely close to the university and lots of hiking trails. However this complex doesn't offer more than 1 bedrooms and studios. So overall, 3.6/10. There are just wayyyy too many cons than pros.

The staff is absolutely nice and amazing! I have lived here for almost a year and it is reliable for students who are in college. I can afford it and it is nice in the apartment just for my boyfriend and I. Although the electric stoves are a bit of a hassle, I like everything else! The management is helping the community become a safer and healthier environment! I recommend! :)

Management is awful.. stuff in units are cheap that it falls apart in no time.. they are bad at fixing things too and have gone through 3 management changes in the short times I’ve been in this nightmare..

Lived here a couple years and the quality has gone down since the new owners took over. We've had 4 management companies in as many years and all of them about suck. This place is good if your a college student or have a limited income. It has all utilities included and is close to UNM. Otherwise, it's a waste of time and money. The current management company doesn't really care about tenet safety. It took at least three months and a lot of cars being vandalized for them to fix the lights in the middle third of the parking lot (they were all out and it was pitch black without them). There are lights out on walkways and sometimes stairwells near the apartments that take forever to get fixed. The door handle to the laundry room has been broken for about 2 years and this company still hasn't got around to fixing it. Only some of the washers and driers in the laundry room work, and since they don't put out of order signs on them, it's anyone's guess as to what is going to work. Maintenance quality depends on the type of emergency it is (like everywhere), but if it is not a major emergency, it could take up to a week to get things fix. Despite New Mexico law saying community rules must issued to each tenet in writing, they don't do it, so it's anyones guess as to what you might be reported and receive a 7 day notice for. Once you give your 60 day notice (yes, you have to tell them 2 months in advance that your leaving or pay fines), they will "pre-lease" your apartment, despite me hearing this practice is illegal in New Mexico). So be absolutely certain that you want to move out or you could find yourself homeless if things suddenly change on you. Finally, move out procedures are anyone's guess, because you just sign a paper saying you're moving, and they don't tell you anything else like what needs clean, how clean things need to be, or what the fees are if things are not up to their apparently top secret standard.
