Property Ratings at Citra at Windermere
DO NOT RENT HERE!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Now that my Citra journey has come to an end, I’m here to write my final review of the establishment. There are many terrible and awful things I can say about this apartment complex. Let’s start from the beginning, First, when we first signed into the apartment, we were missing crucial details to the apartment process because the leasing managers apparently can’t spell gmail. We were stuck in a limbo for MONTHS trying to figure out our names on the lease over something that could’ve been easily resolved if they just would’ve paid attention. On top of that, the maintenance for this apartment is the worst I’ve ever seen. I’ve had to constantly hound the apartment and maintenance center to come and fix things. For example, our dryer that was out for almost a month and half. Not to mention the water heater/AC that was leaking for weeks and their solution was to bring a vacuum and suck up the water (I think the smart solution was to… you know.. maybe replace the whole thing but what do I know). OH ALSO forgot to add that their solution to preventing your AC from breaking was to switch your AC to 75 degree and use your fans….. in the middle of florida summer… If that isn’t enough, let’s talk about the terrible amenities! The gym only had one functioning treadmill! The other one has tread issues and one was missing a key for MONTHS. There’s so much more, so so much more that I just can’t write because this would end up being 20 pages long. AVOID this PLACE at ALL COSTS!! I hope one day this apartment complex gets shut down for good.
Don't believe the advertised costs. Does not include required fees that increase costs by 30%. Don't spend time applying or spend the app fee before asking about the entire cost per month.
I know people are always looking for apartments near Disney and asking for good/bad ones. But I just have to let you all know that Citra at Windermere, while only a few minutes from MK, is trash. They do not care about their tenants, they're overcharging on renewal (the same apartment was listed $800 less than the renewal rate), things are always broken (A/C unit especially) and upon move out, they charge for cleaning (even if it's spotless) out of your security deposit. Not to mention, things were noted at move in that were broken and they also tried to charge during move out. There have also been cops called to the complex multiple times and the walls are super thin, so you can almost always hear your neighbors. This place is awful, they are mismanaged and they are not worth it. Go ANYWHERE else.
Terrible place to live. Management is extremely rude and does not help at all. Been trying to get ice maker fixed since September when we moved in and still nothing. Not only that, you can only use the amenities if the club-house is open which is when everyone is usually working (Monday - Saturday 9-6). Also it is closed on Sunday, so you are paying for amenities you cannot even use. Now they are changing the pool hours also. Basically your paying for amenities that do not exist. Bowling alley is always broken, never open to play pool, kids playing in gym, etc. GO LIVE SOMEWHERE ELSE!
Management completely ignores phone-calls and emails, getting anything repaired is like pulling teeth. It took two months to fix our air conditioner. Amenities are good but the game room is only open during business hours which makes it difficult to use for those with full time jobs.
We were tricked by the low rent that was being offered during the pandemic but we should have saw the signs early. There was a hole in our ceiling that would leak every time it rained. We moved in the summer and it’s Florida so it leaked everyday. Took a month to get that fixed and then it happened the very next year. Never fixed the actual hole, just the outside roof. We got constant emails about telling people to stop breaking rules but nothing is ever done to fix the problems. It wasn’t awful for about 6 months and then our washer broke on April 8th. It is currently July 2nd and it still hasn’t been fixed. It took them a month and a half to realize that the it was broken enough that it needed to be replaced. Told me 3 weeks ago that they would get a new one soon. Declined to give me compensation or take off some rent. They say I’m crazy to think of that as a solution and should understand that the world is going through severe shortages. I’d understand for about two weeks and now I’m pissed. And the parking is atrocious. If you’re not home by 6:30, don’t plan to park in front of your building. I absolutely hate it here. Coming home is a nightmare. The property is a nightmare and not maintained at all. They wanted an extra $500 for my most renewal. They could have taken off $500 and lowered the price and I still wouldn’t have renewed. Don’t live here. Make better decisions than we did.
All I have to say is go check Better Business Bureau. They have the worst reviews in this area! They are not accredited and have bad and deceiving business practices. They will not hear your concerns, they are only after your money! They don’t care about your safety nor are willing to work with you when you show a concern. Horrible experience! Do not trust this people!
CONS: First off the roach infestation is insane. I bought those stick roach traps to start and every other day they would be full. YES FULL. Management did nothing about it except say they would spray outside of our building some more. I even tried liquid roach spray and roach traps, so many roaches. The AC went out 3 times during the summer. They gave us a single window until for our entire apartment and didn't fix the AC for almost a week. The pool is always freezing because it is not heated and almost all of the pool chairs are ripped. The property management is rude and dishonest, make sure everything is correct in your lease. There are constantly parties at the pool (even during covid) and last until 1am every weekend. There have been multiple instances of car break-ins. DO NOT leave any belongings in your car. Just a few months ago over 20 cars were broken into. Also, this place is 30 minutes from everything besides Disney. PROS: It looks nice and has plenty of amenities. A dog park, a pool, a little gym and nice walking paths. The club house is nice and has a bowing alley. There is plenty of parking. Right by some fast food places and a Publix.
This is the WORST apartment complex I’ve lived in EVER. I’ve had my car window busted and belongings stolen, along with 20 other cars. My apartment has been infested with roaches since move-in after they failed to properly send pest control out to the apartment above me after evicting the previous tenants who’s apartment was infested (per the pest control company. “The roaches were falling off the door entrance when they walked in”) and led to surrounding apartments to be infested. The hallways are ALWAYS dirty. There is NEVER any parking by your building and they choose to randomly give parking tickets. The management is HORRIBLE. Gary Davis, the supposed regional manager, told me “common sense” would tell me not to park near a curb although it’s the same place I’ve parked all year and then hung up on me when I asked for his manager. I had to call the office 5 times to get someone else to answer the phone. They change sales associates weekly so if one promises change, expect them to be gone by the next week. The only person who cares at all is Luis and he can’t run this awful complex on his own, sadly. I paid my rent every month on the 3rd because that’s when it is scheduled to come out of my account automatically and last month, I was charged a $250 fee for not paying it before the 2nd although I’ve never paid it before the 3rd previously. They waved the few and told me to make sure from now on it’s paid by the 2nd. They clearly just make up rules as they go. The model apartment is nothing like the apartment you move in to. They don’t clean the apartments prior. I had multiple lights broken at move in and shelves missing in my closet. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. It is AWFUL and led with HORRIBLE management.
Citra on the outside was nice when you first come in and the staff welcomes you in when they first meet you, after that it goes downhill from there. As a potential tenant I tried to apply early in June and was denied. Not a big deal and I respect their opinion to solely base their decisions on credit worthiness. I had already put a deposit down when I applied, and unfortunately it’s mid July and still have not received my deposit back. When I call there is no one that picks up and the emails I send sometimes get a quick answer but no details or follow through. I was disappointed as I felt this location showed a lot of promise initially, but the customer service work.
We have lived here for almost a year , the apartment itself is nice , I also like the resident portal and the quick response time of the maintenance team, however there is not enough parking available, I live in the back of the complex and have had to find parking near the dog park up near the leasing office . They have recently offered a solution in which you can get a prime parking spot in front of your building , if you provide the leasing center a check for $15 per month. As someone who does not carry checks this is rather inconvenient, not to mention frustrating to have to pay additional money to have a decent spot to park. Billing of utilities was never clearly explained at move in , and they charge for common electric which is to cover for electric in the corridors and leasing center. The statements for these utilities are typically provided a few days after the payment is due. The trash is slow to be picked and there are not enough dumpsters to accommodate all of the trash , leaving it to pile up to the size of a small hill. On a few occasions I have seen multiple raccoons sitting on top of the hill of trash. These are a few of the issues I did not expect to have moving to a luxury apartment.
Property Manager at Citra at Windermere, Responded To This Review
Hi David, We are happy that our maintenance teams is responsive to your needs. We have ample parking for residents, however, it may not be accessible directly in front of your apartment home, we are aware this can be an inconvenience. For this reason, JRK created the preferred parking to give residents an option to have a permanent park in front of their apartment home. The fees that you are referring to are listed in your lease in the special provisions page, we apologize that they were not communicated. We will work on communicating these to residents in the future. The trash issue occurs during a holiday and/or when we have residents move out and utilize this area in an unauthorized way. If you ever see an issue with trash, please feel free to reach out to he office. Please note, we have a 48 hour response time for pick up, therefore we ask for your patience. Thanks for being a resident.
I’ve lived here for a year and I have had 4 leaks in my roof that took them months to “fix”. Leading to huge amounts of mold that was left there. According to them it’s “no big deal”. The management and staff are incompetent and should be fired.
Loved living at Citra!! Apartment homes are beautiful, spacious and unique. So much room for a one bedroom. Job transfer was reason for leaving this community. Would recommend to friends and family.
I live in Citra Circle since April 2017, that is to say for 6 months and every day, 24 hours a day I do not have tranquility in my apartment. I live on a 1st floor, and my neighbors upstairs who moved there in July 2017 all the time they make noises, they jump, they run, they roll furniture, they hear the high volume tv at late hours of the night and everything is heard in my apt that is below them. This situation I have reported by email I have gone to the offices, I talk with the staff and to date today January 2018 I have not been given a solution and I still have this problem. Here you do not live with peace of mind, Citra Circle does not guarantee you sleep well because you do not care if your neighbors make noise or not. It is disrespectful not to live with tranquility and more after 10pm and it is 3:34 am and my neighbors making noise.
I am greatly appreciated of Andrea she has always accommodated me and my husband. also work orders the maintenance is always on top of it. i really like the fact that they call to make sure everything has been done and they treat us like friends which i love and makes me feel comfortable. Ive been living here throughout most of the management they've had in the past but i do think its really turning upside down and finally some organization is taking place.
I have just moved in about two weeks ago was perfect from the first day of signing the application to my move in date the leasing office has assisted us through everything. this place is truly one of the best in windermere area, we have an awesome view of the Disney fireworks and we seriously cant get any better.
The management and office staff is HORRIBLE and extremely inconsistent. The rent is increased every year even though the amenities are often unavailable. Lease/tenant policies are unfair and inconsistent. The grounds are unkempt and parking is THE WORST.
I would not recommend renting an apartment at this apartment complex for multiple reasons. I thought things were turning around when a new leasing office staff was brought in. However, it has not changed anything. Rent has gone up between $75 and over $100 each time my lease was up for renewal. Both the leasing office staff and maintenance staff are unresponsive even when you go into the leasing office. I had to submit proof of rental insurance three different times before it was entered into the system. I've put in numerous requests for a standard repair and pest control. Yet, I'm still waiting for the standard repair to be completed and items on my kitchen counter were left in disarray, which is the only reason I know the pest control maintenance was completed. Due to a severe storm, the water was turned off for over 12 hours. And nothing was done as a courtesy to residents because it was considered an act of God. And then it was turned off again for a couple of hours due to backflow plumbing. I fear there may be some type of bacteria in the water as it continues to smell odd. A bowling alley was put into the same building as the leasing office. However, it's only open during business hours and we continue to have issues with parking (which I feel is much more important than a bowling alley). For these reasons and many more, I would not recommend this apartment complex.
Can't wait till my lease is over! They have beautiful models apts, outside looks gorgeous by the office. But once you move in whole new ballgame! You see Citra at Windermere for what it really is. I must they're great getting u in here, cause they surely tricked me!! And I'm admitting the kitchen/ master bedroom and pool area is beautiful but to sacrifice living with mold in hall bathroom, dirty stairs/hallway, amenities and apt repairs not working properly or fix in timely manner, landscape within complex crappy, dog poop here in there, teens running wild, bad parking arrangement, terrible trda unless, inside apt sliverfish, outside big ants ,termites ect.. with with an exterminator spraying supposedly on regular basis outside. New Management, maybe they'll get it together in time but I can't wait on that change and complain like all the other tenants I have spoken instead of them moving up out of here!! I guess some people just like the address Windermere and maybe because a lot of tenants are from other countries. They tolerated/accept this overrated place. There's other properties to live in Orange County, then just for address that says Windermere and granite kitchen/bathroom countertops !! P.S. Problem didn't start with last manager, Jonathan I'm sure! Because with my experience with employee's from the corporate office, that was here on property temporary, it was the most horrible experience ever had with them lying continually on local staff members half of the time and promising things that of staff . While staff dealing with all this stress from corporate and there lies. I think that could be the starting point Citra at Windermere pass problem and even future problems!! And not all the old manager! So if I was you and you don't mind paying for what you want!! Please googling/looking keep for a luxury resort style apt!! Don't stop here unless you work for Walt Disney and want to be close to Disney. You may be deceived by the bells and whistles look but it will/may come with sacrifices. Can't say you wasnt warned!! And it would help working tentants if they had better office, like open on Sunday so we could take advantage of the that bowling alley ect.. we're paying for that closed when office closes. Working class people not home regular business hr the office is open!! Dated 6/3/17
Property Manager at Citra at Windermere, Responded To This Review
Hello, We are sorry to read that you have had an unfavorable experience thus far at our community. As you have outlined, we do have many wonderful amenities for our residents to enjoy. Please know that we do keep our property clean and always have safety in mind. In that regard, we will be doing regular pressure washing and we are in the process of installing cameras. We do hope that we can turn things around to your satisfaction.
WORST place I have ever lived!!! Bugs EVERYWHERE-roaches and ants! Could not get rid of them yet you're paying a pest service fee! Incredibly loud neighbors and absolutely nothing is done when complaints are placed! Smoke free is laughable! The valet trash guys literally take the trash and pile the bags up in front of the dumpster..... in plain sight! Landscaping is atrocious, there was not any grass in front of my apartment the entire year I lived there!!! ALL WEEDS! NEVER any parking. And then mystery debt collections when you leave!!! Nobody will return your calls, nobody sent us any notification of any "damages" and yet I'm in collection! It's laughable!!
I have never been more frustrated with an apartment complex. As a matter of fact, I have never been frustrated with an apartment complex. Citra has continued to get worse over the past two years. The property management and JRK Property Holdings is terrible. They are rude, don't return calls, can't do anything without "corporates permission" and have no sense of urgency for their residents. Construction has been going on for over a year and is still not complete. The hot tub has been broken since June 2015! We've had issues with the pool filters and cleanliness since before June 2015. Now that it's reopened it still closes for days at a time for "maintenance" with no communication to the residents. If you plan to use the pool you better call ahead of time to make sure it's even open. Do not expect any type of communication from the staff at Citra unless it's to their benefit. One day late on rent, poof a letter is at your door! However, you submit a work order and no one comes, poof it's like you never submitted it. Do not rent here. Do not let these people fool you. I promise you will regret all the time and money you spend at Citra at Windermere.
Current resident: please save your money and look else where. Johnathan and the rest of his front desk are the worst team I have ever seen. Any issues you have they will not help with. Amenities are never clean (pool) and the hot tub has work maybe 2 out of the last 12 months. I promise if you move here, you will regret it.
This complex has a beautiful modern design complete with 9 foot ceilings, new appliances, and kitchen island. The complex as a big dog park, a children's playground, a huge pool area with a spa and outdoor grill area, and a 24 hour gym. It is perfectly positioned perfectly right off of State road 535 for easy access to everything. It has a shopping center with Publix, Seven-Eleven, and McDonalds right across the street and sidewalks all around. It has great potential, unfortunately the complex is horribly managed. When you go into the office, most the questions and requests are pushed of to one of the office staff who they give messages to if he happens to be out of the office when you go. When we moved in, our apartment was covered in pet hair and not check for maintenance issue. We put in a maintenance request the day after we moved in and it took them 2 months to come and fix MOST of the problems (one of which was a wire in our fuse box that was completely burnt and tripping the breaker every time we used our microwave.) We still have a gap in the seal of our front door, because it would require them to take out the whole door frame to fix and we were told they cant do that. The same level of care is shown to the pool area, as the water is constantly dirty and things are broken for a couple of weeks before someone comes to fix them.
I searched almost every appartment complex in the area..and i simply cpuldnt find a place thaf even comes close to citra. The staff is beyond friendly and knowledgeable the amenities are great you really get your moneys worth here also the rooms are all up to date apploences cabinets and counters..
Citra at Windermere is a great place to live. The apartment amenities are up to date and have a luxury feel to it. It is a great starter place for a single family home. I would recommend this place to anyone. If you are looking for a place with great apartment amenities and complex amenities, Citra is the place to live.
Very clean living environment. Apartments are new and the complex definitely feels as such. Plenty of parking and far away from Disney to not feel "touristy". Pool is also very nice and there is a supermarket and shops within walking distance. I would recommend this complex to friends and family.
I moved here about 4 months ago and have loved it so far. The community is very quiet and I never hear anything when inside of my apartment. This was a big concern I had before moving here, as I had a very different experience with my last apartment at another community. The apartment only had one renter before me and it was very clean when I got it. As for the neighborhood, what makes it really nice is that it is 10 minutes from the Disney World entrance and I-4 in one direction, and 10 minutes to the Winter Garden Village shopping area, and the Turnpike, in the other direction. Plus, you can see the Magic Kingdom fireworks every night at 10 pm almost as well as if you were in the park itself! As for the residents, what I've seen is people of all ages, and everyone seems very nice and friendly. A lot of professional people live here. I have seen reviews where people have been unhappy with the trash pickup, but it is so nice just being able to put it outside your door and someone comes and picks it up every night (except Friday and Saturday). It used to be that they missed a day here and there, but I guess enough people complained and they recently went with a new trash pick-up company, which so far has been very reliable. I am very happy that I decided to move here, and unless something drastically changes, I know I will be happy here for the next few years.
