Five Points South wraps around the University of Alabama at Birmingham with the UAB Campus Green sitting in the heart of the neighborhood. The south end of the neighborhood contains the Vulcan Park and Museum and the Vulcan Walking Trail, while the north end contains Railroad Park Foundation and Regions Field. Five Points South is a historic district that was founded in 1893. It is considered the city’s food hub and is home to top restaurants like Bottega and Highlands Bar and Grill – winner of the James Beard Award.
As Birmingham’s entertainment district, Five Points South provides more than historic architecture, great food, and an energetic student vibe. You’ll also discover a variety of shops, coffee houses, the Abroms-Engel Institute for the Visual Arts, and a variety of festivals and events. Five Points South is very walkable and students often walk to and from class. Be sure to stop by the Storyteller fountain, created by local artist Frank Fleming.

Property Ratings at City View Apartments
These apartments are decent. The landlord is really flexible and super friendly. I like the apartments and they are very affordable. I've only been here for 2 months, but I like it so far.
I used to live here and I really liked it. I knew the owner for several years. This place didn't charge extra for dogs, and they had laundry on site. I moved to Atlanta for a few years for my job and when I returned, I thought I would live there again. They (same owners) told me to go online and apply and pay a $40 or $45 application fee via PayPal. The application fee was a new thing. Most apartments in the area do not charge application fees. I have a great job and make the required percentage (two or three times monthly rent) and my credit was very good. I wasn't worried. The owner and I had talked in person several times about my new apartment and when it would ready etc. After i paid my $45, the owner avoided me a few times, and when the move date approached I finally nailed him down. He told me his wife denied my application because I had a bankruptcy years earlier. I was stunned. Bankruptcy is a last resort. Courts will not grant you a bankruptcy unless you truly need it. Bankruptcy actually improves your credit score and has no relevance as to ones ability to pay their rent! Bankruptcy only forgives unsecured debt, not apartment rent, so this "policy" made no sense. Most importantly, nowhere during the application process or on any of the forms or website did it have a disclaimer about prior bankruptcies. I believe they allowed me to apply just to get my application fee! The place is infested with crack heads and stoners, and many units have more occupants than allowed by the city. My best friend and cousin live there, so that would have been convenient, but he just stays there because he hates to move. This is a dirty "company". Take your business somewhere else where they will respect you or at least be honest and up front with you.
