Property Ratings at City View
I enjoy living at CityView Apartments a lot. The staff are very nice and helpful. The maintenance department are knowledgeable and work well with each other. Everyone in the office always has a positive attitude and are easy to talk to.
CItyview is a hidden gem in East Village. Only one way in and out, has a large parking lot in the front of the building for loading/unloading supplies which is a rarity for downtown San Diego. Love their underground parking as the cars are kept out of the hot sun. Big thumbs up to the front office and the maintenance crew: they are invested in the building and it shows. Communication from staff is prompt and delivered straight to your email so you are always aware of anything going on. The building is solid, clean, and the residents are a good mix of students, military, and working adults. Everyone is respectful of each other's privacy and space. If you must have your fancy expensive gym and exquisite game rooms so you can post it on social media, you will have to look elsewhere. This building is for ordinary working folks like me, and for the price, you won't get a better offer in downtown.

City View is a great complex for those who want to live in the city life but also want to live in a laidback atmosphere, management is awesome as well as the maintenance staff. If they had a pool it would definitely be a win but overall the community is a great and small community that doesnt feel like a downtown complex which is great.
City View is an aptly named oasis in East Village San Diego. Located close by freeways and public transportation hubs, it is highly accessible. Walking distance to major stores, restaurants, Central Library, City College and Petco Park.

City View Apartments have so much to offer! Love everything from the gym to the laundry on every floor. Also leasing staff is AMAZING! Shout out to Connie for making our moving process less stressful!!
I was able to find city view online, view the property, sign my lease and move all within a week. The staff responded in a timely manner and are friendly and knowledgeable about the downtown area. I have yet to have company come over and not like everything about the apartment. I have zero complaints or regrets.
June 22, 2023 I celebrate 1 year living at City View. I would have to search long and hard to find a negative thing to say. this is my first time living in a complex like this and I expected it to be noisy with people in the hallways passing by. It is quite the opposite. Old and young we all get along. where else can you live and have your pets with a dog park for their convenience. For me there are only two things that could make City View better, a pool and more visitor parking.
City View apartments made my move and apartment hunt extremely easy. Connie at the reception office is such a great person. Looked once at the apartment and decided to go with it. I love that the community has controlled-access from all entry points. One other great thing is that each unit gets 1 free assigned parking spot in the garage.

City View offers a fantastic location in close proximity to various city amenities and downtown. We love the view both in the morning and at night. Furthermore, the complex is clean, residents and maintenance staff are friendly and very helpful. Most importantly to us however, coming from northern California, we were forced to apply online and both Connie and other complex staff were incredibly helpful and dedicated through the entire process.

I would not recommend this apartment to others. Our kitchen faucet dont even get hot water. Maintenance takes forever and we were living with mold in apartment for a whole year because of their mistake!

Amazing place to be at
Great place to live and they care about your needs situations and make your stay good
City View is one of the most affordable complexes with fast access to the heart of Downtown, while still managing to pack in some decent amenities in the process. My wife and I applied and signed a lease sight-unseen because we were moving from across the country, and Cindy went above and beyond (and continues to) to make sure that the unit was represented well online and make sure the whole process went smoothly. We've now lived here for 11 months and have no complaints about our stay. Access to all the major freeways is about as easy as you could ask for. The complex is extremely safe, as it is tucked up on a hill with gated entry on the F Street side and the only vehicle access through a turn off Broadway. If you're someone who enjoys craft beers and pub sandwiches, the bar/brewery Monkey Paw is right at the corner of F and 16th, and 10 Barrel Brewery is about a 5ish minute walk away. The new Makers Quarter developments are going to add residents and retail to an East Village that can be somewhat sparse, but even then, you're just a 10-15 minute walk from the heart of Downtown. I don't agree with a previous reviewer that the apartment is "cheaply" made. We've had no problem with the paint or functionality of our unit. Sure, the finishes aren't what you'd see in some of the newer, more expensive complexes deeper Downtown, but you've still got granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and decent laminate wood flooring. When our freezer had a bit of a leak within the first couple weeks of our lease, maintenance was in the next day swapping out the entire refrigerator. We were gone at the time (gave permission to enter), and the staff not only removed and re-filled the new fridge but did so putting all the food back in the exact configuration it was before the swap. I may be in the minority, but I've never had a maintenance crew before that was *that* attentive. For all other maintenance requests, they've been incredibly responsive. Leaky tub faucet? Replaced later that afternoon. Sliding door off the track? There to re-position within a couple hours. Absolutely no complaints with the maintenance crew. Overall, only good things to say about this place. Management is great, maintenance is great, the complex is great value for the money, and we've had good luck with our neighbors.

City View was the best complex we've ever lived in. Cindy is the absolute best!!! They are so welcoming and friendly. The location is nice because the property is tucked away and a bit secluded from the main street. Dog friendly with plenty of amenities. We ended up leaving for a larger apartment, and I wish we hadn't. They're wonderful!!! I'd move back if I still lived in SD.
My husband and I love living here, but we started to notice the apartment was cheaply put together. Workers used cheap paint products which in turn isn't great for the people that like hot showers. We noticed while taking a hot shower one day that our bathroom doors paint would bubble up and then when it could would chip off. The crown modeling wasn't all the way to the walls or was just incomplete in other places. Our closet door has a lock on it but the frame has nothing for it to connect too. The drain on the porch we found out was painted over and when it rained, the water actually got high enough to come inside. It is supposedly pet friendly but they don't tell you all the rules until they see that you have bought a dog and then restrictions and weight limits are thrown at you. If you want to live downtown it's a nice option for the price, but beware of the cheap products the company uses.
