There’s no denying the convenience of being 10 minutes east of downtown St. Paul, and residents have helped the Woodbury/Afton/ Lake Elmo area become a highly livable suburb with an increasing number of urban amenities, including great restaurants, bike trails, and pedestrian-friendly shopping areas.
3M and other nearby corporate headquarters have brought in a diverse population. An excellent public school system draws those with children, and the bordering cities of Afton and Lake Elmo have largely retained their rural character, making green space and country experiences a short drive away.

Property Ratings at City Walk at Woodbury
Currently on my second year living at City Walk. The first year went ok, minimal issues. All of my maintenance requests were handled in a timely manner. I’ve had water leak through my ceiling into my apartment twice and it sounds like it might be a common issue as the second time the maintenance man said there were multiple other apartments flooding that he was dealing with. Once my second year started is when the issues came to light. Both the front door of the building and the parking ramp door locks have been broken for weeks. Wooden door frames to the parking garage are broken and have fallen off. The trash room and the elevator are filthy. The trash room door even has what looks like mold spots on the inside of the door. The leasing agent also told me the ugly red walls were supposed to be repainted and new lighting by last fall. Not to mention the “Resident billing service” fees. Plan on adding another $300 to your month payment for that as well. After you add the random fees it cost the same, if not more than the other luxury buildings in the area.
If your looking to move, check out CityWalk. The staff is super nice and fun, they have great amenities. Michelle(property manager) has followed through on all commitments. Honestly she's gone above and beyond. So happy I chose to live here.
I just want to share that my tour experience with Claire was so beautiful, warm and welcoming! She was so compassionate and non-judgemental you felt that right away by meeting her! Even though it didn’t work out due to circumstances on my end I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and everyone!!! Homes were so beautiful’ heated parking I mean WOW! MOVE here if you can ! Everything was nice staff was so nice and ready to help us in any way!!! Move in now if you can. Thank you so much again Claire for beautiful tour experience I will definitely see you again soon to make Thai place my home!! ??
If you are reading this review , please take this seriously . I read through the reviews and still decided to move to this place and that was the worst decision I made . Few days into signing a lease , my husband got a job transfer so we called them to check if we could cancel the lease , all they said was we ll take legal action on you or pay the rent for the entire year but you cannot cancel the lease , they were not considerate. So we moved in , the hallways were smelling foul and there were dead rats . The house was not clean when we moved in but they are ready to charge you for that when you move out . We lost our packages after moving in inspite of having a security system , all they could say was next time “have your packages insured “. They charge you for the common electricity , gas and water so that will be upto 400$ a month and mind you that will keep increasing every time . They make sure you have the internet connection with them and you pay a $100 for that , which will cost you $30 outside .The walls are so thin you can hear the flushing sound of the unit above you . There were people playing instruments in the middle of the night and you could hear it in your apartment . And when we moved out they charge you for odour removal in the house , does it mean we were foul smelling ? I don’t get it … everybody would want to keep the house clean and smelling fresh and everybody would make efforts to make it that way , like the hallways were smelling good , they always smelled stale. We should be charging them for the hallways smelling that way . Trash room is very dirty, they never maintain . When they clean the garage , they post a notice which was not found anywhere and say they sent a mail but we never received a mail , and when you miss it and you have your car towed , we lost 600 bucks cos of their negligence. So I hope this review reaches you and make the decision of not moving to this place .
Read some reviews before you sign any lease. Constant criminal activity, management lies to residents, smells like marijuana all the time, common areas are disgusting, office management turns over every few months. I don’t want to live here any more, and you don’t either. Sincerely Current resident
This place is a joke. I applied and paid a very big application and administrative fee (which is not refundable regardless of what they tell you) 2 weeks ago and have yet to hear anything. The staff never returns my calls.
I lived here for a year and couldn’t be happier to be out. They are very good at selling you on their apartments. However, when you actually start living there, it’s a completely different experience. When communicating with management about the many problems we faced, they were rude and unprofessional. They never wore masks in the office during the pandemic, which was unsafe for everyone, including staff. Instead of helping renters gain access to rental assistant programs during the pandemic, they posted overdue rent notices on people’s doors for anyone walking by to see. They are inconsistent in their communication about snow removal, resulting in many cars being towed. If snow was in the forecast, I couldn’t sleep in fear of being towed because it happened so often. The garage doors work less than half the time and there were multiple thefts from cars. The garage also always smells like trash because it is almost always over flowing. Your car also gets dirty when parked in the garage. It’s not safe or at all sanitary. This was the worst renting experience I have ever had.
Well we are finally out of the pig pen called City Walk of Woodbury. We lived there for 7 yrs, 5 yrs under a great company and the last 2yrs under what I consider a Company from HELL The Connor Group. Check out all the reviews by going to their web site. The best way to describe the living conditions there is to use a number system and the order of the problems is not by importance. It's just a list. 1. Management will tell you anything to get you to sign a lease. Then the fun begins 2. They don't tell you of all the hidden fees. RBS is (Resident Billing Service) This company is also owned the Connor Group. They charge you for garbage removal, common area electric, HOA fees, common gas PLUS they charge $99.00 for internet so the payments owed for the month will go up by as much as $250.00 Then there is a parking in the garage fee $95.00 and they force you to pay that. All of a sudden the rent is up by $350.00 OUCH!!! 3. The common electric fee is supposed cover the air conditioning of the common hallways, last I checked it was 80 plus degrees in the hallway but management doesn't care. 4. A number of residents have moved in and their air conditioners, washing machines in the apartments do not work and management won't fix them. I am not making this up. 5. There is no security, anyone can get in the building at anytime, I have reported to management many time that the security doors do not lock--6 months later they still are not fixed. 6. There are garbage rooms on each floor, 2 of them on each side of the parking garage. Most of the time they full of peoples garbage because the chute is full== a lot of days to the 4th floor. 7. The smell of that garbage permeates the hallways. 8. The police are here everyday for a lot of different reasons. Theft in the garage is common. 9. The maintenance is nonexistent as is the cleaning of the common areas, carpets a mess, fire doors not working properly. The turnover of staff is like watching a revolving door. 10. PLEASE read the reviews and believe them===the only positive reviews are written by staff. Today I met with management to get my deposit back-- no luck but that happens with most residents---no deposit returned. They did what they always do, called the police, a big slap in their face when the police agreed with my position and told management to answer my questions. The only thing luxury about City Walk is the writing on their sign. .
After a house fire we needed to find a place long-term but temporary and City Walk had experience working with families in my situation. I was able to get an appointment very promptly to look at a 3 bedroom apartment. The apartment was very nice and the amenities were amazing. Cody did an AWSOME job listening and communicating with us. The only reason we didn’t rent there is because I found something closer to my house and to all of the activities my family and I are involved in. One recommendation to management would be to have their cleaning crew vacuum the hallways more frequently.
I have never written a bad review about an apartment complex before however my daughter moved into this place and paid a fortune as a deposit, they’re charging her cleaning charges without any type of breakdown on what was being cleaned. Did not receive a move out statement until 22 days and then told she won’t receive your deposit back for possibly another 21 days which is highly unusual and very unacceptable. We have pictures of how filthy the apartment was when we moved in, toilets were dirty paint was spilled all over the floor underneath the refrigerator and down the refrigerator, carpet torn up from a cat that was never mentioned before move-in. Nobody addresses any problems that they had, and they are definitely not tenant friendly.
City Walk has been the worst renting experience of my life. Issues have included: water leaks (throughout the building), a building fire, frequent road/lot construction, black mold, poor noise control, and abusive staff and management. The package delivery service is poor too: Packages get stolen, mishandled, lost, etc. often. The management, sales, and maintenance teams stonewall by ignoring my emails. When I have spoken to sales staff, they have lied and then feigned confusion or denied it afterwards. During my 6-month inspection, for example, a sales team member spouted lies about lease terms (which he had on a clipboard and pretended to read from)trying to manipulate me to into renewal. It took months for management to finally respond to my request to discuss my concerns. Management then minimized issues. Like other reviewers, I have also received aggressive messages from management referencing their attorney.
I wouldn't even consider moving here. They are nice to you until you move in and then they could care less about you. When things break down they don't rush to fix anything. Forget the amenities, they're always out of order or worse yet, dirty. I would consider anywhere else but here
This has been the most awful experience that I have ever had, straight from a nightmare. The building has potential, but due to the purely evil management, it's nearly impossible to feel at home here. The management is inconsistent and will purposely mislead you when signing the lease. They have consistently taken advantage of me and other renters in the building. Every time I attempt to reach out for clarity on the lease that I signed, they threaten to get their attorney involved and tell me that I am not allowed to speak with them any further. The gym is missing equipment and water leaked from my ceiling for the entirety of my lease. Management has also ignored those emails as well. I cannot believe that this is a functioning business. DO NOT ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE TRICKED INTO SIGNING A LEASE HERE!
Worst place I have ever lived in. Before you even get in the door you have to dodge the dog crap that is everywhere. Once inside I can't believe how dirty things are. Stains on the carpet, and yes even dog crap at times. No one is ever cleaning, and we are in the middle of a pandemic! If anything breaks down good luck getting anyone there to fix it. They are nice to you until you sign the lease. Once that is done you're pretty much on your own. If you complain at all they will do their best to make it a nightmare for you to live there. Run before it's too late!
I've had nothing but problems with these guys. Took 6 months from the day I moved in for the leaking sink to get fixed. Ive had multiple work orders put in, and they dont even give a notice of when they are coming theyve showed up multiple times while my significant other was doing zoom meetings for work pounding on the door. Their staff unlocked my door walked in then walked out early morning no knock or anything scared my pregnant girlfriend half to death. They dont give notice as to when cars need to be removed. They have not refunded or reimbursed any part of our rent for the amenities that we need a key phob to access. There is mold in multiple apartments that do not get fixed. Multiple people have gone 6 months without receiving their security deposits back or an itemized list by 21days as to why it isn't being returned. Anyone that writes a bad review online has been given notices to vacate or been told they will not renew their lease. They do not treat their tenants with any respect.
Read into connor group before moving here. Cannot believe this place is still afloat. Wish My family could have backed out of the lease after a month. Multiple instances of theft occur with no help due to CAMERAS THAT DONT WORK!!! Bad place all in all.
The property is run down, the management is shady, the security is non existent. Leasing office is lovely though!
First, I never write reviews. I moved here at the end of April during a pandemic. They were one of the only people showing apartments. In June the roof started leaking and the response and communication has been terrible. It is now almost October and STILL not fixed. The fire alarms go off. It is very dirty. The garage parking that they make you get is a disaster. I've rented and been a landlord. I have no idea what the people in the office are doing?! Sigh. Only 6 months to go! I hope we don't get sick from the mold in our leaky walls!
This place is a nightmare. I never leave reviews but feel I need to warn others. The property staff is extremely incompetent. The trash piles up in the trash room and hallways are always filthy. The front of the building flooded when it rained, tons of hidden fees, AC goes out CONSTANTLY with nobody to fix it. Easily the worst place I have ever lived.
This place is really nice and everything seemed perfect during my tour, but once your lease is signed, they no longer care about you. This place is HORRIBLE! Do not move here unless you want things broken and never fixed, hidden monthly fees, ignored by leasing office staff and maintenance staff, and bugs and rodents in your apartment building.
Broken promises combined with filth and surprise expenses make this place, which could ge amazing, the ine to RUN FROM!! Rude and ineffective "management" staff, lack of maintenance and grotesque surprise fees for this and that it's awful and now I have to incur the expense of moving again.
The staff is always so nice and welcoming! The property is very clean and the new management is upgrading the whole property. Love it.
I cannot wait for my lease to be up. It used to be great for years and new management took over July 2019. They don’t care about residents, customer service, or community. They are unresponsive and lie. Break ins, unclean halls and garage, and constantly breaking water pipes and flooding. They take no accountability and practically blame the resident for everything including burst pipes. The apartments are nice but you won’t feel physically or emotionally safe here.
New owners have been awful. Laura is very condescending towards tenants and ignores emails. Old owners and management were great. There have been multiple breaks ins and security cameras and locked doors are not working properly (The building is surrounded by Section 8 apartments). Fire alarms consistently go off for hours. Trash and old bed bed furniture pile up in the trash rooms, parking garage, and outside. Management waits MONTHS to take care of anything. There are much better apartment buildings in Woodbury!!!
New management is terrible. They sell these saying they are safe and secure buildings but the cameras on the property do not work, the locks leading into buildings are all broken and have been on order Supposedly for two months. There have been a lot of break ins inside the parking garage and management has done nothing about it other than make excuses and they say they are working on it. I reported a break in and I was told by not only an office worker but also the manager Laura that they didn’t have time for it and weren’t going to fix the issues. I wouldn’t pay half of what they are asking for rent. This place is a joke. Do yourself a favor and do not lease from city walk / the Conner group who own them now.
We have lived in City Walk apartments for several years. Laura and Noah are doing a great job with the transition from the previous team. They have been very responsive to issues and have kept at it until they were resolved. I am excited about the new and improved City Walk experience.
The new management team here is great! Laura is the best - always so friendly, helpful, and accommodating! :)
I have lived at City Walk for a few years. At first, it was amazing, but when the management changed, things fell apart quickly. The transition was messy and there were a lot of errors. Maintenance requests started taking longer, the air conditioners are breaking and taking weeks to fix, and the clubhouse remodel took way longer than residents were initially told. If you bring up concerns with how long things are taking, you get rude responses from management. Now, I’ve heard that they are refusing to renew the leases of residents because they want to remodel the apartments and raise prices. If you are considering moving here, know that you might get a nice apartment, but you’ll also get a lot of hassles.
I just want to warn anyone who might utilize the "Automatic Payment/Debit" option. I have been moved out of the apartment for two months and have been auto billed twice incorrectly. The apartment management seems clueless on how to fix this! The first time I had to run a check from the new tenants to cover the withdrawal to my bank the day after ??? This time has yet to be resolved. I am going on three days of the money cleared out of my account and no one will call back or resolve this. If this was their money missing I think we would have multiple fees and consequences, but they seem uninterested in dealing with me and keep complaining about "corporate" but simply won't let me talk with them. We have run money from our savings back and forth to deal with covering this and they can't even make a phone call back. POOR MANAGEMENT!! Everyone seems totally clueless!!
Hats off to the management team at Uptown at City Walk..Gerri, Shane, Jill and Kathleen! From the moment we looked at Uptown, this crew made the difference for us. They were so welcoming, knowledgeable and accommodating through every step of our application and move in. Their hospitality continued all through the year and we have really enjoyed our time here. The building has outstanding amenities, the maintenance and cleaning of the grounds and common areas is first class. Sadly, it's time for us to move on and we sure have mixed emotions about leaving. Again, the apartment and amenities attracted us to the building in the beginning. But it was the staff that really made this a home for us. Thank you so much, Gerri, Shane, Jill and Kathleen :)
Uptown at City Walk has beautiful apartment layouts, very nice granite counters, luxurious master suites with huge master bath tubs. The amenities here are phenomenal. Two workout facilities available, a pool and hottub, huge basketball court, awesome billiards room including an indoor golf simulator, and many living/common spaces for entertaining. The apartment management staff is very friendly and they try their best to answer/respond to questions or concerns. The reason I don't give Uptown a five star rating is because the property isn't always taken care of. The hallways often go un-vacuumed with small pieces of trash laying around, the paint patch-up jobs in the halls are not done correctly and as a result, there are multiple different shades of paint making it look extremely tacky. And lastly, the clubhouse is COMPLETELY alcohol free, so don't plan on bringing a glass of wine or having a game day party or family event with light cocktails. They don't allow ANY form of alcohol. This was not something we were informed about prior to renting. Other than this, uptown is a great place. Its just unfortunate you pay and expect to live in a "luxury" apartment and the maintenance/cleaning is skimped on. However, if you're okay with just the apartment space you're living in and the common areas are not of concern, Uptown is a nice place.
We knew Uptown at City Walk was the apartment for us right after we toured. Compared to other local apartment buildings, it had the most home-like feel and unbeatable amenities. There is a four-story, climate-controlled parking ramp in the heart of the building, enabling residents to park on the same floor they live on. The hallways are extremely wide, which make moving and weekly grocery hauls so much easier. All of the one-bedroom floor plans we toured maximized square footage and are designed for living. The only big difference for us was the color of the cabinets: even floors have light-stained wood cabinetry, odd floors have dark-stained wood. Every apartment has a walk-in closet and a washer/dryer in the unit, which was a must for us. The office and maintenance staff are very friendly, accessible, and dependable. The apartment is pet-friendly, with pet-centered amenities like a dog park, shower room, and lots of dog treats in the office. There are frequent social gatherings for residents and dogs alike. Residents have access to Uptown's exercise and community rooms and may also use the neighboring apartment building's workout room, community room, and pool, which are superb as well. The location is the perfect mix of lakes and greenery and convenient shopping. Anything you could ever need to buy is either across the street or only minutes away. There are seven miles of easily accessible, scenic trails behind the building. Rent is comparable to other apartments in the area that are older and have fewer amenities. We couldn't imagine living anywhere else.
This complex is accepting of dogs all sizes, which was great for me!
Within days of applying for the apartment, Shane from leasing contacted me with my available options. He let me set up a tour that afternoon to come see the apartment I selected and the complex. He was busy at the time I arrived, I got there late due to traffic, and the manager of the complex gave me my tour. Geri is incredible and so helpful. I told her on the spot I wanted it, and I was able to move in just two days later! My 900( ) square foot one bedroom apartment is on the top floor on the corner; I haven't ever heard any noise from the interior walls, except a door being shut. But I'm right by the exterior stairwell. The view is beautiful, all the windows make it feel so much bigger. Having a heated garage space come with your apartment is always a plus, but at City Walk that parking space is on the floor of your apartment! It's so handy. The shared amenity complex is just top notch; there's an attendant to assist with the virtual golf and anything that's needed. There's always an open treadmill in the gym at all times; it's a great size gym with everything you need, extremely well kept area, the whole clubhouse is! The pool area is so clean it's impressive. The walking paths behind the complex are expansive and connect you to the entire City of Woodbury. There are monthly activities that connect not only the complex to its residents, but to the community as well, like a Farmers Market! The office staff are unbelievable; maintenance is there for you so quick, and it's the cleanest kept building I've ever been in. I have and will continue to recommend Uptown at City Walk to my friends, I haven't had a single complaint since I've been here and am looking forward to living here for a while!
Beautiful building and surroundings. Many amenities for your comfort and enjoyment. Workout in the gym, splash in the pool and relax in the spa. Play virtual golf, let the kids play shuffleboard in the playroom. Maybe a game of basketball is to your liking, there is something for everyone including room for your pets. Like to bike or take a relaxing walk? There is a large walking, bike path around a lake for your pleasure. Come over and check out several different apartments that would suit your needs. Parking for your car in a ramp close to your apartment door, nice in winter and summer.
The apartments are poorly constructed. It's already starting to show. Light switches and thermostats regularly break. It's noisy. You can easily hear your neighbors. Some apartments are above the garage door or next to mechanical rooms. Anyone unfortunate enough to be next to these is going to experience constant noise issues. The fire alarm goes off every few months. It's not a minor issue when it happens. Imagine, it's the middle of winter late at night and this alarm goes off. It is shockingly loud. For those of you with children, I would be concerned about hearing damage. A fire alarm here is about a two hour event. You have to leave when it happens and wait for the fire department to deal with whatever happened. Imagine sitting in the Wal-Mart parking lot across the street while it's freezing outside. That's what we did over and over again. I've lived in many apartments. I am shocked by how many times this alarm went off at Uptown at City Walk. Lastly, the management is horrible. They are nice when you are viewing the apartment. After that, they are especially rude and incompetent. Anyone that is any good leaves the staff and the worst rise to the top.
Uptown at City Walk is the BEST apartment complex in Woodbury... Hands down! I am from the south and finding a place to live that would handle all of my needs was my first priority. Uptown at City Walk has everything I was looking for in a home and it is in close proximity to work, stores, church running paths and more. It is a community oriented envirnment and there are a ton of activities foreveryone of any age... including the precious animals! The staff is AMAZING! Needless to say, I think EVERYONE knows Doobay. He is one of the teammembers who make sure all of your needs and concerns are met. Anytime my mom (who lives in the south) knows of anyone moving to MN she puts them in contact with Doobay. He is such a friendly person and delighful to work with, as well as the rest of the staff! Uptown at City Walk is definitley my home away from home! -Yours truely, a southern girl
