Property Ratings at Clairmont at Chesterfield
I called to schedule an appointment over the phone for a tour at 4:30pm and the lady at the property I spoke with informed me that if a walk in came in I may be at risk to lose my spot. I thought this was very contradicting because the week prior I came in for a tour and missed my time slot and was informed that I couldn’t take a tour at the next time slot because scheduled appointments take precedence over walk ins, because I had came in on my lunch break and it was technically my fault I decided to leave because I didn’t have enough time to wait until they were done. So I explained this to her over the phone and she didn’t have a Claud response besides trying to convince me to come in next week, almost like today was a bad time. I explained to her I had got off work early so today was the best day since next week I was busy. Upon arriving on the property, no one spoke to me it was like they were hoping I didn’t make it. The lady who I spoke with over the phone rushed the entire tour. Talking really fast and once we got to the living room area she completely slipped passed it by directing her hand to the master bedroom as if she didn’t want to explain that area. I insisted on viewing the living room area and balcony to my surprise it had a storage space. Which I liked but had I not pointed it out she would have skipped right over that. At the end of the tour, once we got back she handed me my ID and didn’t give me any information most apartments do so I can reference like a brochure, pricing, card nothing. As if I was an inconvenience. The apartments were nice from the little I did see, I thought the tours were 30 mins or so, that way future residents can decide if it’s a best fit for them.
The management is arrogant. A lot of drugs around. Cops living there tryinf to control the order. Not good for kids. A lot of bugs. Mold build in your master room after you move in. You call them and they do nothin for you. You better run away from Clairmont.
These apartments look good but I would agree with the review that said that the walls are paper thin. Not only do I hear everything from my upstairs neighbors but they smoke and the smell permeates into my apartment daily. Also every noise from the breezeway comes straight into my bedroom including voices, walking on stairs, doors closing, etc. When i first moved in there were ants. The management ordered pest control but when that didn't get them they suggested I treat it myself. It took a month. My neighbors upstairs had a toilet overflow that flooded my apartment on Thanksgiving day. Because it was a holiday it took over an hour for someone to come and turn off the water (neighbors weren't home). Maintenance was good about the repairs and I was only out of my apartment for 6 days. (cost of staying somewhere else and damage to my belongings was on me and my insurance). But now that I am moving out they are nit-picking wear and tear and have threatened to charge me for a cabinet door under the sink (with water "damage" that I am struggling to see more than anything minor) and it will cost $150 for that one door if they decide it is unacceptable at move-out. This has not been a good experience and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
The apartments and clubhouse is beautiful. The grounds are well kept, but the walls are paper thin. The apartments aren't well made. I live on the ground floor and can hear every step the person above me makes. My neighbor is constantly moving and pounding on something and I hear it. It is embarrassing to have company over to hear her stomping around upstairs. It's like we live together but I don't know her. I hear everything!! I can't wait to move. I gave the apartments 3 stars because they are nice apartments. However, they were poorly built for sound.
Choosing this apartment complex was a big mistake. Although my expectations were high to begin with, when you want to cut back on costs and plan to buy a home, you make the sacrifice. However, the sacrifice we made in terms of the quality of the apartment (ratty carpet, loud ice machine, weird smells in the apartment, cheap appliances) were not supposed to affect the level of customer service we expect. It says something when you've lived in other apartments and the most you can complain about is your annoying neighbors. But we have been experiencing poor customer service while renting a subpar apartment. I'm talking about the manager dropping the ball in processing our information correctly, claiming we didnt pay rent as I stare at my bank statement reflecting the withdrawal, stuff that may be a miscommunication but is only the result of poor management. I've lived places where these things just didn't happen! The online portal to pay rent worked fine, didn't feel like I didn't have all the details up front before moving in so that once I've moved in, I feel duped. I can honestly say this has been the worse apartment living experience of my life. Can't wait to get out of here.
I was a resident here for about a year and absolutely loved it! The location of the apartment is spot on, right down the road from the chesterfield mall, Kroger, the highway, hugenot park, pony pasture, the YMCA, and lots of restaurants. The area was quiet and well kept up. The apartment itself was bright and spacious with up to date appliances. I rarely heard any of my neighbors. Maintenance was very quick in responding to any requests. The complex also had a nice gym, movie theatre, an outdoor pool, and a few outdoor grills. There's also monthly activities put on by the office staff for the residents. One perk I really liked about living here was I could do a 6 to 12 month lease for the same price at no additional cost with the option of going month to month afterwards without a rent increase. So if you're buying a house or not sure how long you'll be staying, this is a great option for you that no other complex I had looked at offered without increasing monthly rent. The office staff and managers were always welcoming, friendly, and eager to help answer any questions I had. I wish I could have stayed here longer but work had me relocate. I enjoyed my time as a resident here so much and am so glad that I was able to transfer to another Katorides location with the help of the office manager Rebecca. If you're looking for a quiet community with great office staff in a good location then this is the community for you!
Overall I have enjoyed my tenure as a resident at these apartments. They are spacious with a modern design. The rent does not increase upon renewals and they offer great incentives such as, free or reduced rent when doing so. The apartments are in a gated community that is relatively quite and safe. They are centrally located to various medical, shopping centers, parks and major highways. However, sound proofing within the apartments is not very good. I can hear almost everything my upstairs neighbor does including TMI sounds. The workmanship of the apartments is not of very good quality. And pest control should be done more consistently as a preventative measure. Most of the staff is nice and professional but sometimes requests have to be followed up on by the resident because it was not addressed initially.
Very disappointed in this property. We have lived here for about six months while we search for a house in the area. The office has continually cut back the hours of the clubhouse amenities and services. Wifi in the gym is spotty at best. The TV's in the clubhouse and gym get very few channels (nothing sports related for the gym goers). The walls between the apartments are paper thin (we can hear when our neighbor opens a cabinet in their kitchen when we are in our bedroom, we can hear when our downstairs neighbor is showering). The worst part is the gate call box system. We get random calls from the gate at all hours of the night. The office has told us there is nothing they can do so you just have to live with it. The office staff seem nice when you are looking and then they completely ignore you once you move in. Overall not worth the price you pay.
