Property Ratings at Clayton Arms Apartments
*Literally only a 2 star because 1 star reviews are more likely to get removed... the only positive about this place is the location is kinda good since even the price is being raised* Lived here for... 2-3 years now and I have an entire list of grievances with this place that I will post here. To be clear... this is entirely the fault of management and the maintenance crew is honestly amazing and so nice (or maintenance guy since they seemed to have fired everyone else and are currently making ONE GUY do all the maintenance work for an entire building... yeah... typical cheap landlords). In short, the maintenance team is purposefully understaffed because of the greed of the corporate landlords who own and manage this property. - My apartment literally gets slugs. This is a new one for me. I have never lived anywhere that had a slug problem... but this building does. I routinely walk around at night and find slugs just strolling through the apartment. I have no idea how they're getting in and management doesn't seem to care. - There is a constant puddle in the basement. The basement also happens to be where the laundry machines are. The walls in the basement have... something growing all over them. It kinda looks like the walls are being eaten away by something. Again... management doesn't seem to care. - Packages constantly getting stolen from the mailroom. Management literally waited for dozens of people reporting stolen packages to... wait for it... put up a sign! That's it! A sign telling people that packages were being stolen. They did something similar for the entrance door to the building which had been broken for months making the locking mechanism not work properly. They put up a sign basically saying "someone has altered the door to make it not lock properly... please don't do that!". Then they told us to just have our packages shipped to the houses of family and friends instead and that was the end of it... I wish I was joking. They literally told us don't ship things to the mailroom of the apartment that we PAY for! - The washing/drying machines are crap... and you have to pay for them! They routinely screw up my clothes (washing on cold btw because I am trying to stop them from screwing up my clothes). And again... you have to pay for these machines to mess up your clothes!
THIS IS THE WORST PLACE TO LIVE. The administration people at the office are incredibly rude and unhelpful. The manager is the worst of them all. They need to take a refresher course on Customer Service and Communication. I am so sick of this apartment complex and all of the mistakes, and I CANNOT wait to move out. 3 weeks ago I received a letter stating that Spectrum cable and WiFi was getting installed and I needed to move a lot of my belongings to give the guys room. The note said they would come in the next three days. Turns out they made another mistake and didn’t communicate the weekend didn’t count as part of the three days. So 5 days later, my apartment is still a mess and disheveled from having to move EVERYTHING out of my storage unit, and the spectrum guys didn’t come yet. The letter from the manager also said that an employee of Clayton arms would be entering the apartment with the cable guys. Nope. The employee was just hanging out on the staircase watching videos on his phone. When I called to tell the office this the explanation was “he was probably watching multiple apartments.” Really? Cause all he was watching was a video on his phone. So now three weeks later I STILL don’t have cable, and the manager says that Spectrum hasn’t told them when they’re coming back yet. But when I called Spectrun they had a clear date that they’re planning on coming, and corrected all the misinformation the apartment manager told me. Not to mention how moldy and disgusting the basement of this building is. The washers and dryers are literally always dirty. The cabinets and carpeting in our apartment are older than dirt, and the cabinet doors don’t stay shut because they were installed so crooked. When I called the after hours number a few weeks ago I was hung up on, and when I tried to report this to Eastwood Management they couldn’t have cared less. This is a terrible place to live with terrible management. If you are considering moving here just trust me and don’t do it.
Maintaince is decent. Took them three times to try and ‘fix’ my leeky roof though. The people in the office are very rude and condescending. The space is pretty limited and the neighbors will try to complain about anything and everything they can. Hot water consistently doesn’t work so get used to taking cold showers and the ac is a joke. Only positive thing i can really say is that it’s a short walk to Walmart. People also tend to leave walmart carts everywhere in the building. All in all i hated it here and would never rent from there or the same management company again.
So, I moved on January to start my new life in the states (I'm from Puerto Rico), when I picked it, I wanted to be in walking distance to my new job, alone, there was no studio by the time it was available to get a room, so I got a one Bedroom, but then I found out I got the jackpot! I have free WiFi (up to 5Mbps), I am literally across the street from Walmart, Sam's, Pep boys and a theater. my free water and heater is also a plus! Although I'm not a pool or court person, we have a basketball court and pool. Right now, the only complaint is that the bathroom was made for not-so-tall people (I'm 5'11'')
I am not a fan of these apartments. They do not keep up with maintenance and keep the garbage cans inside the billing on the ground floor; thus it always smells. Also The supposed free hi speed wifi always goes down so dont use it if you are in a computer field or expect to stream Netflix. When my lease is up I will not be renewing
Lived here going on 4 years and it is a nice complex. There keep right on top of anything that needs to be fixed. No trouble within the complex. You will love it.
I have lived here 8 years, although it don't have a playground or tennis court anymore, I like it here maintenance comes as soon as they get a work order, the grounds are kept nice, no problem with pest, great neighbors, if a package is delivered at your door no worries it will still be there when you get home, the electric bill is the cheapest I've had anywhere in the Rochester area, and I love the balcony
I moved into studio a year ago. It's a good size and I am very comfortable. It's certainly doesn't have the most modern features, but it's in good shape. Any maintenance issue (3) have been addressed quickly, same day on one occassion. The grounds are nice and my neighbors are nice, too. Overall, I like it.
Thumbs up for this place. I'm so glad I didn't stay on campus. Even with all of our furniture moved in, my roommate and I had plenty of space. We only had very, very minor problems. The maintenance could have done a better job with salting the sidewalk during winter and cleaning the hallway connecting the apartments. Central air conditioning would have been nice too, but you can't win 'em all. If you're a quite sort of person and you need a place to stay, check out Clayton Arms!
I can't give you a completely honest review (the first one was denied because of a violation of the terms of use) so all I can say is that there is ONE and ONLY ONE good thing about this place: it's close to RIT. I can say nothing else good about it, and because of review regulations I apparently can't say any more bad things either. Just look at my overall rating (or the breakdown of rating categories ratings if they show that) and connect the dots from there.
I must say I had a few visits to Clayton Arms apt. and I am always blown away with its location and environment. I enjoy the fact that it is very convenient to a verity of shopping areas.i would appreciate very much so if I had a opportunity to reside at Clayton Arms Apartments and call it home. Thank you.
