Property Ratings at Clemens Place Apartments
This place is by far the worst place a person could rent an apartment at. Very unprofessional leasing office and poor I mean poor property management. If you dare to ignore this review you will regret living here. Don’t waste your MONEY or your TIME with this location. Your money will be wasted and you will continuously receive parking tickets SMH
I don't understand the bad reviews, because I've lived here for years, and it's been wonderful. The neighborhood is beautiful - historic buildings with sidewalks on tree- lined streets. Ample gated parking. Maintenance workers pick up trash off the street every morning - show me a suburb where that happens! The neighbors in my building are long-term residents, we know each other by first names and everyone is quiet. The office staff, maintenance workers and security are professional, friendly, and responsive to problems. This place is a gem.
Do not waste your time with this place ! not only will they not show you the partment your going to rent out before but end up giving you a complete different one upon signing the lease. price will change with them just because. The demo that will be shown to you will not be even close to what your getting. The apartment was shown to me with roaches in the back and the lady's at the office knew cause once i told them i wasn't taking the apartment they showed me two other ones and when i told her which one i wanted we signed the lease, two days later she calls with excuses about it begging still being rented out to another person after we had just went into the apartment, so when i told her i will take the other one she agreed we signed the lease and i ended up with another apartment i had never seen The apartment was given to me dirty and doors are all broken. I didn't get to move in till the 15 of December and all my paperwork was in process since november 15. Never received the proper keys to the apartment OR gym . you can tell the maintenance people are not even professionals at what they do.
Started off the lease good until we began to have rodent issues. We have told the office and they send out exterminators in which they say everything is okay but we continue to have the same problem. Cannot wait for my lease to be up definitely leaving this place
I moved due to job change in CA. Enjoyed my stay for last 3 years, location was extremely convenient to the rest of the state, airport and train. The staff did there best to help with all my initial concerns. The woman at the front desk has been a blessing with making things easier, especially moving out last minute. For being in the city, they do an excellent job looking out for their tenants. I have friends all over Hartford and they can never get a hold of their landlord at all, it's nice they are on site. Grateful, will rent again when needed.
You can never stay here peacefully because of roaches, mices, paper-thin walls, etc.
I had a one year stay in Clemens place for my visiting scholar program in Uhart. It was a two bed room apartment in 9 Federick. It s a quiet and comfortable resident area. The apartment I lived has well-equipment. The staffs here are very nice!I had a lot of good memories here. One thing I need to remind you is do not leave the trash over night. Once you do that, cockroach problem will be a big issue.

This review is dedicated to Ivy, The most friendly, inviting, and dedicated person I've met here at Clemens place. She's an amazing receptionist and never hesitates to quickly help you fix any problem you have. I look forward to the times I have to stop by resident services becuase I always leave smiling. Her charming personality always makes my day. I hope management recognizes how much of an asset she is to the Clemens Place team!

Hi, thank you for your kind review; we are happy to pass along your comments to Ivy here at Clemens Place!
I am dedicating this review solely to Ivy - an exceedingly competent and caring member of the staff who truly embodies the aforementioned "undeniable charm" listed in the description. She deserves to be recognized for going far above and beyond the call of duty for her job, dedicating her time to making tenants like myself feel at home - and cherished. It is my personal conviction that she should be formally commended in some manner for her exemplary service. I shall miss her dearly!

Hi there, we are very happy to have provided you with such a positive experience! Thank you, and have a fantastic day!
I stopped by today to drop off a rent check, knowing that there’s a new policy in place that rent must be paid via the portal on line. Having tried that and it not working, I stopped by hoping they would just take a check. Ivy showed me the policy and walked me through. She got me to the online portal but despite that, I still couldn’t actually make a payment. She asked if I wanted the phone number to get this fixed and I was pretty impatient and then she offered to make the call. She did and I got the rent paid. Thanks Ivy! I hope I wasn’t rude in my frustration. But you’re a real pro and handled the situation with grace.

Hi there, we are very happy to have provided you with such a positive experience! We're glad to hear we delivered such a great experience. If there's anything further we can do for you, we are happy to help!
So, let me start off by saying that the staff here is amazing. We are from Texas and we had Yukari as a leasing agent and she made the process for us as easy as possible. We had to complete our application and email it back to her because we weren’t physically in Connecticut at the time. We didn’t want to live in a hotel for an extended time. We wanted to come up here and sign for our apartment and that’s exactly what we were able to do! We have been staying in Clemen’s place a little over a year now and we love it. I really can’t complain. We have security around the clock, maintenance always shows up in a timely manner, and Ivy, the lady in residence service, is amazing. She’s really nice and helpful. I love her! That’s my girl. If I get a package she’s quick to call me and let me know, which I love because I order so much stuff sometimes I can’t keep up ???? I would recommend these apartments to anyone because they are nice, it’s quiet, the grounds are always well kept, the neighbors are friendly and aren’t noisy and if you have any issues or maintenance requests just call Ivy at resident services and she will put a ticket in for you ASAP and also follow up with you to see if it’s been handled. She went on vacation one time and soon as she came back she called me to see if our maintenance requests were taken care of. You can’t tell me that’s not great customer service! ??
Just renewed my apartment here for the second year. The staff is accommodating, hardworking, and responsive! Not to mention I love having conversations with them! When I first moved into my apartment I had a relatively old dishwasher that leaked all over the floor overnight, I immediately called 24-hour maintenance and within 20 minutes the guy was there and diagnosed what was wrong. Later that day, I had a brand new dishwasher installed--complete with the user guide! The neighborhood is safe and nestled nicely in the west end walking distance to Elizabeth Park, UConn Law, The Mark Twain House, and some awesome restaurants (The Half Door and Tisane's to name two). I love waking up and running through the UConn campus to the park! I have pets in my apartment and there has never been any issues with bugs or mice because of them. My building has friendly neighbors that greet me all the time! I feel safe in my building and love walking by my neighbor's door because they always cook delicious meals that fill the entire building with scents you can almost taste. Additionally, I love having a gym that I can walk to (while I am doing my laundry at the same time). No, the gym isn't a five star fitness center, but it has everything you would need for an indoor workout. I have never had to wait to do laundry, and while the laundry room isn't spotless clean it's a place to get the job done. I believe this apartment had a rocky past with management, which are many of the older reviews, but none of my experiences are negative like these reviews. I VERY MUCH like where I live in Clemen's Place, and for those that are worried about rats and mice... IT'S A CITY...THERE ARE RATS AND MICE. Ultimately, this is a cute little neighborhood with a ton of character. Almost all of these building are registered historic properties and are close to 100 years old, so no, the buildings aren't going to be the most modern. If you don't mind walking for laundry or living in a slightly older building I highly recommend this place. If you want a brand new, overpriced apartment go pay two times more for a studio in West Hartford for less room and amenities. Do yourself a favor, go look at the place in person before making your decision from online reviews!

Hi there, we are very happy to have provided you with such a positive experience! Your recommendation means so much to us and we're so happy to have earned it. Thank you again for taking the time to let the world know about your positive experience. Have a great day!
Clemens place has everything, but most importantly the staff are kind, courteous, and attentive. The grounds and interior of the buildings receive regular care, and it shows!! If you don’t know the West End of Hartford where Clemens is situated, you will be thrilled... Victorian homes, the famous Rose Garden of Elizabeth Park, even the Governor’s mansion, all nearby. My recommendation comes after 3 yrs as a tenant. Go experience it for yourself!

We went directly to the leasing office to get leasing details as we were in the neighborhood. The lady we met was very rude, she was not interested in speaking. She was in a hurry to send us out...Between the place is also very small. It's like you are going to live in a closet.

MY NEXT CALL IS, THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT! I went in to view this property recently....I DO NOT RENT, but i have friends that have that warned me against it. Let me start off by staying they do not have just one property they have close to 45 buildings that they rent out. After reading all the horrible reviews of mice, cockroaches and bad maintenance staff along with awful smells ETC. I figured well, we will go in and look around and give them the benefit of the doubt considering "NO ONE VERY WRITES GOOD REVIEWS"-Later stated by their sales person showing us the rooms. So here is my experience, and I hope it saves you time and a head ache. I want to start by saying, every review you read is 100% true.. We walked into the main building to sit down, Automatically I smelt a heavy odor that I couldn't point out until later in my visit. The main office wasn't gorgeous but it wasn't awful.WELL OF COURSE IT WAS! It was the apartment they use in all the pictures to lure in poor suckers (like me) that need affordable living. Then we were greeted by the "sales rep?" I say it like this because she was obviously extremely knowledgeable about all the health and safety concerns she was about to try and sell us. Fast forward, we went to look at the actual rooms and I kid you not I almost passed out they were so disgusting. All the appliances needed to be updated, I say this because the appliances WERE OLDER THAN ME. They suck so much unnecessary electricity that your electric bill will be triple what it should be just because your renting from a cheap company that doesn't care, they are also a huge fire hazard. The smell that I mentioned earlier made sense the second I opened up the kitchen cabinet doors to see a huge pile of Rat poop. MIND YOU NOT MICE...RAT! And a sticky trap with huge rat half alive... I am going to assume he was not the only Rat considering it looked like one had chewed his leg off to escape leaving only the foot on the pad. That smell I first smelt was rat poison... I would like to remind you that this is one of the property's they had cleaned and prepared to show people to move into ASAP... I cant even imagine what it looked like before. I also forgot to mention that I am highly allergic to cockroaches and though none were seen, I left the property with huge rashes all over my hands from touching things... Only assuming that its because at some point cockroaches were very much around and no one cleaned since.

Clemens Place is the nicest apartment complex I have ever lived in. Clemens Place is set on Farmington Avenue in the lovely West End neighborhood of Hartford. Conveniently located on the best bus line in Connecticut, where buses run to downtown and to West Hartford every 10 minutes. The grounds are immaculately mowed and trimmed in the summer, and the parking lots are plowed and the walks cleared promptly in the winter. The office staff are congenial and take great care of each tenant. They gladly receive and hold your Fedex and UPS packages for you. Maintenance staff are prompt, competent and thorough. Secure off-street parking is plentiful. On-site laundry facilities are conveniently located and use secure cards instead of coins. Heat and hot water are included in the rent. If I could have remained in Hartford, I would have lived in Clemens Place forever!

My place is nice because it is in a nice area, and is quiet at night. It's near the bus stop at works every 15 minutes. It the right size for me and my mom. I enjoy it very much!
Hartford is a busy city with a questionable reputation so I wasn't sure what to expect relocating there. The apartment I found however is very nice. It has off street parking in a secured lot, a fitness center, dish washer, air conditioning, free heat/hw, and even a tennis court. There is also a laundry facility in each building. The 1 bedroom apartment is reasonably priced for everything being offered. It is close to the highway and minutes from downtown. The landlords keep the grounds clean and maintained. Any repair issues are handled quickly and the staff are helpful and friendly. I love living here and everyone I meet who lives here seems to agree.
lived here when I was younger great place. affordable, convenient location
The apartments at Clemen's Place are much nicer than I expected. They offer a great deal of perks for residents. There is a tennis court, secured off street parking, laundry facilities at each building and a fitness center. The apartments themselves are carpeted and heat is included. There are ceiling fans in the dining and living room and an air conditioner installed in each living room as well. The grounds are always well maintained and kept clean. The rates are a bit higher than other apartment complexes, but you get what you pay for. I feel safe and comfortable here which isn't something every Hartford location can claim. There are a lot of students who rent these apartments so it is a very culturally diverse mix of people. Everyone is very nice and considerate.
Make sure to find a good roommate and move in. Everything here is average, could live, however, just lower your expeditions before moving in.
I'm an employee in Hartford so I really like the convince of my commute. I llive in a studio apartment but it can feel like two different spaces based on the great layout. Having a gym on the property is a plus. I also feel very safe with the security and the gated parking. During the summer, there is the farmers market right on the lawn. I only wish that based on other apartments I looked at that the rent was slightly cheaper.
Right by the border of West Hartford and Hartford gives you great access to everything. Rent is fair especially with the space and amenities (fitness, tennis, in house matience and laundry).
As a law student renting on my own place for the first time, my father and I both had some concerns. Hartford has some less than desirable areas, but Clemens Place is perfect. Lit parking lots and security that you can call upon at anytime really put my dads mind at ease, while the variety of floor plans allowed me to find a perfect one for me. Clarissa in the residents office was wonderful as well when helping me select my apartment.
I am fond of this property because it gives the feeling like you are in an entirely different place. It's close to everything but yet it is secluded. The buildings are grand and historic. Makes you feel like you are in an upscale NYC neighborhood. Stores and a variety of restaurants are within walking distance. It always feels safe because there's not much thru traffic. The property is usually neat and quiet. The outsides are intriguing yet inside is very basic with no frills. That leaves a lot of room to show your particular style through decorating. Overall, it's a cool, calm place to call home.
I lived here for 2 years during my grad years. It was convenient and close to many things. The staff was pleasant and it was not overly expensive but not the dumps either. I enjoyed my stay, especially being able to walk to Tisane's for my coffee and martinis and I loved having a beer outside at The Half Door.
