Property Ratings at Coastline Apartments
I have lived here for around 2 years. there is always trash everywhere the location isnt a safe place my "renovated" apartment doesnt have a garbage disposal and the fire alarms arent hardwired (this is a fire hazard. i could just get rid of my fire alarms) the maintenance team is lazy just dont live here. and rent is high for the location. its crazy.

I highly recommend living here. The staff is extremely helpful. Kacey, the property manager, has been a delight to speak to, listening to my concerns and I always see maintenance working hard. The builds are well kept and the apartments are really nice for the price. I really enjoy being here.

I would give this place negative stars if at all possible. The abridged version: Upon move in, the apartment wreaked of cigarette smoke. The smell ended up on my clothes, furniture, and anybody who spend more than an hour there left with a noticeable smoke smell on them. I reported this to the leasing office, they told me they would be by to address it. Nobody came until after a month. In addition to the cigarette smoke, there were cockroaches, the drains drained extremely slowly and would back up into each other (if one sink filled up, the other would fill as well), the patio door wouldn't swing open because of the slope of the ground, the walls are VERY thin, and the apartment was in general very dirty. Citing all of these reasons I tried to move out, but the management wouldn't budge. They made me pay 2 months rent plus another 2 months rent for a lease break free even if I were to move out immediately upon moving in (they wouldn't let me see my specific unit prior to move in). I have never written a review for an apartment before. I am generally a "you get what you pay for" kind of guy, but here you will pay for nothing. Truly avoid at all costs.

This apartment has been a nightmare. I am military, so I have lived in so many apartments, and this one by far takes the cake. The day before moving in they pushed our move in date out another two weeks (should have been the first sign). Upon moving in there was a laundry list of broken things (washer/dryer, bathtub, door to patio, door to outside, blinds will not close). The only thing that they have fixed was the bathtub, and that was only due to us calling and going into the office nearly everyday. They moved us into a unit without a working washer and dryer and have done nothing to even try to fix it. The carpets are also stained and turned my feet black when walking on them. You will also have new pet ROACHES. They have sprayed, however the proble, is so much bigger so we are fogging ourselves, getting traps, and ultrasonic plugins. It honestly should have been a sign to not move in when the stovetop still had crusted on food. Please, do yourself a favor and look at other apartments. There are so many more options in the same price range.
The absolute worse decision I made was moving into Coastline Apartments. Good luck getting in contact with anybody from the office during the move in process or even while being a resident. They hardly answer the phone, hardly return emails, do not review or handle maintenance requests put in. It seems like the only way to get anybody to listen to you is to go to the leasing office each time you have an issue. Very unprofessional. Very over priced especially considering residence are left out back. Trash always scattered across the complex. No pest control. Lights have been out in our hallway for almost three months!!!!! And apparently water payment is split between the building so you’re not only paying for your usage and on top of that you’ll only get a 5 minute hot shower max!!! Absolutely ridiculous. You’re better off living some place else if I’m being completely transparent. Take your money to a place where they’ll at least answer the phone. I would’ve broke the lease if I was able to long ago.
We moved in around august time frame and we’re just trying to squeeze the most out of our dollars. Most of the wood in our apartment is broken or frayed and gross. The biggest issue is the roaches. We have sprayed ourselves, used baits, traps, and anything else that we can think of but they are still there. We didn’t see them before we moved in and though most of the reviews were blown out of proportion. We moved in and our washer dryer was not hooked up and they way it was laid out it needed an extension cord that was not provided and took daily pestering just to get maintenance to come out. Maintenance are great HOWEVER they have only 5 or 6 personnel for this huge property they can’t work the MOUNTAIN of maintenance repairs and requests. The area we live in has 2 huge dumpster that hold a large amount of trash but the residents just throw trash next to it and in the yards around it. Management is unable or unwilling to hold residents accountable let residents live in squalor.
My husband and I move here thinking we were going to get what our money is worth; when in reality it’s been a horror show! We moved here in November of last year and the first day I spotted a water bug. After complaining to them numerous times nothing was done. They told me to buy some bug spray that “works” but it doesn’t at all. After a while the kitchen started to become infested with roaches. In front of our apartment there was this random bubble growing. And it’s STILL there. In our master bathroom… the tub started growing mold.. 2 times. This pass weekend maintenance came into our apartment without our permission. If it wasn’t for our ring camera we would of never known. The neighborhood is reallly bad. Every other day there is a shooting. At first we loved the apartment but we started having problems the day we moved in. If you have kids and care for your safety… please do not move here

Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! We really appreciate it!
If you are looking for a decent place to live this is not it. Many of the dog owners just let their dogs do thier business right out the door and not in the designated areas. The apartments are ok if you like sharing hot water from the community water heater. No individual hot water tanks in each apartment. I still have not figured out how the water is billed since there are no individual water meters. The upgraded apartments are a JOKE. And i say that as a compliment. If you decide to move here, DON'T GET THE UPGRADED APARTMENT. Go with the regular apartment. Believe me you will be MUCH HAPPIER. Maintanence... Multiple calls to get the simplest things taken care of. Someone tracked dog crap into our hallway. I was told that the cleaning people only come on Wednesday. I have not seen them yet! Just have to be mindful that it is there everytime i come home. The office manager only wants to put people in the apartmants. The office staff overall is pretty good. Customer service is not a strong suit, but it's not terrible. They advertise FULL SIZE WASHER AND DRYER. We got a regular washer and dryer made for a SMALL apartment unit and was told that what we got is what we are going to have. In order to wash, we have to make MULTIPLE washes. We wash EVERYTHING in COLD WATER, as by the time the hot water gets hot the washer is full of cold water anyway. The dishwasher is useless. Of course they need hot water to clean properly and again by the time the water is hot the wash cycle is over. Have tried to use the dishwasher 4 times. Not one thing that NEEDED to be cleaned with hot water was cleaned. It has yet to disolve one detergent pack. They installed a microwave and its just dangling in the space. We have to hold it in order to open the door for fear that it will fall down. Electrical outlets are not working. Called maintainence. They came out fixed one and it went out a couple of days later. TAKE NOTE THAT THE MOST POSITIVE REVIEW is from 2015. Even under the new Coastline management this is the WORST APARTMENT I HAVE EVER MOVED INTO! As soon as my lease is up, if not sooner, i am getting out of this place. I hope i never have to use my renters insurance because of the electrical issues. I will have to get my own washer and dryer if i dont want to wash all weekend. This place looks good on the outside. The inside, where you, LIVE is CRAP! DON'T DO IT if you can find beter!!!

Thank you for your review. While we appreciate all feedback, we're very disappointed to read such a negative assessment of our community. Our team works very diligently to give residents a comfortable, pleasant, and clean place to call home. We understand your frustration, but please know that our management and maintenance team want nothing more than a positive experience for our residents, so we apologize if this was not the case for you. Your concerns are very important to us, and we'd like to offer our assistance. Please stop by the office at your earliest convenience. We look forward to working with you soon.
You will always see the bug terminator truck, you will call weekly for the same maintenance problem, and you will get charged high electricity because they give you a window AC unit because they know they can’t fix your AC in the apartment. We have had To call for our AC to get fixed 5 times in the past month. As you can tell they only do temp fixes so they don’t call an actual AC tech out here. This is just not the place you and your family need to move into. The rent is cheap because they fix everything to bear minimum. Oh! And day of move in, we saw 2 dead rats and a wall of dead roaches because the terminator guy forgot to clean up after. But, seriously.... move in day that’s what we are welcomed with.

Last Sunday night when I got home I was walking into my bedroom and saw something run out of my room and into my laundry room I immediately screamed and jumped on my bed. It was a rat not a mouse but a RAT. I went to the office Monday afternoon when I got off work and spoke with Jessica and told her I had a rat in my apartment, she thought it was an emergency issue (which it is). While I'm talking with Jessica I see cierra turn around in her chair and look at me and roll her eyes( this isn't the first time I've had a problem with Guerra, she is nasty rude and just ignorant and plenty of people who live here have had the same problem with her). As I was leaving the office Jessica told the maintenance guy that was walking into the office about my rat problem. I went home and waited and waited and waited for them to come do something. They never showed up Monday, they didn't come until Tuesday afternoon to set traps. Last night I get woken up at 145a to the trap snapping and the rat scratching at my kitchen floor to try and escape the trap. I called emergency maintenance at 2a like they told me to do when they set the traps, it took this guy 1 hour and 45 minutes to get to my apartment and get this nasty diseased filled rodent off my kitchen floor. After he got the rat up he set more traps and said if there is one there is most likely more and asked to patch up any holes where the rat may have gotten in at. He didn't leave my apartment until 4a. Now I'm stuck with rat traps in my kitchen, pantry, laundry room, and bathroom. This is not how anyone should have to live. I have asked several times to be put on the pest control list but I can see now they still haven't done it. I have already drawn up papers once to put my rent into escrow if certain repairs werent done and now I'm back to square one, looks like I'll be contacting my lawyer and 13 news now.
The apartments are nice and the staff is wonderful. They are always helpful. As for the neighborhood this place is terrible. There are a total of 8 units in one section. The neighbors here are disgusting. There's always trash laying around. I've found cigarette wrappers, chicken wing bones, hair weave remnants, and random trash just laying in the common walk way. The poor grounds keepers can't keep up with these slobs. Common area always smells like marijuana and our car has been vandalized twice, once by a neighbors kid!
My husband and I moved here a year ago when he got stationed here. The apartments are spacious and the office staff is friendly. My one major complaint is that maintenance does not respond quickly. I usually had to call the office a few times to get my maintenance request taken care of.
Small two bedroom apartment with extended living room, 1 bath and 1/2, some have pests, not so good neighbourhood I have to watch out for my car every night. Most neighbours have dogs some pick up behind them some don't. Rent is between $970-$1200. The best thing about this apartment is it is located right in the middle of the Hampton roads area so you are able to travel between the cities of Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Portsmouth in less than 30 minutes.
