Property Ratings at Colchester Estates
The images used for this ad are old and misleading. The Playground is deteriorated beyond use. The parking lot has many pot holes and not enough spaces for the tenants that live here. The water is undrinkable and the hot water is a constant issue. The heat is not tenant controlled but they soon plan to make the tenants pay for the oil even though the boilers are used by 16 total units with no way to determine how much the individual uses. There is mold. The property management is unhelpful and there is a significant lack of communication when it comes to power or water outages and when/why things might be worked on. Property owners try to find any reason they can to charge fees, including a nominal fee to pay using the app they require you to use to pay the rent. Regardless of checking account vs credit card. Please do yourself a favor and do not waste your time or money here
We lived there for a few years and the amount of problems that we faced was disgraceful. The water was disgusting and would often run brown. The parking is atrocious because there aren't enough spots for all the tenants that live there and the spots are barely large enough for the cars to park and the doors to open. The amount of times things broke in the unit and the response time to fix them was embarrassing. Recently they've had a lot of issues with flooding in the basements and mold as well. Not to mention the amount of times the police were called to the facility for various reasons.... It was not a pleasant place to live and it is definitely not worth the amount of money they are asking for it. Save yourself the hastle and steer clear.
The construction workers always leave nails in the road. Ive had about four flat tires in one year
I had really high hopes for moving into this complex. The hardwood floors are nice, there's a good amount of space and storage in the basement. That being said.... The water pump and filtration system has broken down a handful of times and I've barely been living here for a year. We've gone many hours with zero running water. The filtration system has failed more than the water pump has, and the water is brown and terrible looking for ages but "it's not harmful". The way they flush the system is with copious amounts of chlorine, enough that it stings when you get in the shower. And forget taking a bath! We've had to go out and buy jugs of water because we never know when the water will fail, and if it'll be fixed in a timely manner. There is one maintenance man to cover all 7 of the buildings, and no one else to be on call if he is unavailable. Calling a maintenance ticket brings you to a central call center, which is really just a conversational voice mail box. They don't give you any contact information beyond the property manager, who has less answers than the call center. I'm incredibly disappointed with place. I'm moving as soon as humanly possible.
