Property Ratings at Cole Spring Plaza
It’s sad to see so few reviews. This is the first apartment I rent when I came to US for my job. I was having a lot of bad experience finding a comfortable and affordable apartment at many area that is close to UMD campus. The moment I entered this building, it just feels good and the leasing manager, Sumintra, is just amazing. She really go all out to help me especially when a lot of my document was still processing as I just came to the US. The staffs are all very friendly, the neighbors were polite and nice. Well, there will be some pros and cons, and honestly I personally think it all depends on what you prefer. For me, other than the washer and dryer is at the basement, everything is good. By the way, I have never had problem with the laundry facilities after staying one year here. Also I’m always at home after work and during weekends, I never have trouble with noise. It’s a good experience. Too bad my job requires me to move to another city, otherwise I’ll definitely stay for another year.
Property Manager at Cole Spring Plaza, Responded To This Review
It makes us truly happy to hear that you are enjoying your living experience at Cole Spring Apartments! We are grateful for the kind words and if there is anything you need, please feel free to reach out to us!
My experience has been very disappointing due to management. I have mainly dealt with the male manager. He has been completely unprofessional in handling questions & concerns I've had. After we moved in, he has not responded to ANY of my emails or requests to contact me. Even on an occasion when I emiled at 2a.m. because I thought someone had been in my apartment while I was out. It took me having to call to the office the next morning only to discover he had passively read the email already & didn't care to call or respond to a concerned, fearful resident, or at all address the issue. Please note there are no security cameras on elevators or the floors where residents live so it very possible for a break-in to happen. I know someone came into my unit, & the situation was not handled properly on the side of managment. This apartment does have ROACHES & RODENTS, he will lie & say it doesn't. In the 6 months I've lived here both have been in my apartment, (20 roaches, 1 mouse that is STILL here) & all I was given were sticky traps. He was very inconsiderate & nearly came into my unit unanounced (no call, no email, NOTHING, and he woul've come in had we not been home) with maintenance. He also failed to inform me there was an extermination list I had to be on to get my unit professionally sprayed, so a rodent issue that could've been resolved in days is now prolonging to 3 weeks. The fact one must sign to have their unit exterminated in the first place is foolish & unsanitary; in a large, older complex right outside the city the entire building SHOULD be exterminated regularly anyway. This apartment supposedly only allows cats, however, before we moved in he said it would be ok for me to dogsit my mother's small dog in our apartment, but after we moved, in he switched up on us & said we were "breaking our lease," when I had the dog over. The crazy thing is, my mother's dog was only here for 2 days, but I have since seen 2 other dogs that actually live in this building! Management overall has a lack of consideration for residents. We are notified only the day/night before construction is being done in the building or blocks off the parking garage. Again no email notification, no nothing. On the topic of construction, do not live here unless you want to be awakened by loud, booming construction across the street. Overall I am VERY concernced about the way management is operating Cole Spring Plaza & handling issues with their residents.
Overall, the apartment and the building are nice. While they have made upgrades to the apartment by adding new kitchens, they are still somewhat dated. I also have experienced electrical power issues while staying here - eventually, it was fixed by management. Besides being dated, I can say that overall the building is clean and there are little to no rodent/insect issues, which is a win in my book! Great location with close proximity to Downtown Silver Spring, friendly concierge staff, and responsive management team. I think I can deal with the outdated-ness of the building :-)
All utilities included but no washer and dryer. Hard to make time for washing.
Nice apt building, awesome management team but we missing the laundry in the apt.
