Property Ratings at COLLEGE PARK
It was hard to get myself to even give this place one star. There was a lot that went wrong this year- the attached pictures show many (not all) of the damages that were present before I even moved in. One of which was a leak on the ceiling of the shower. The entire ceiling was sagging and the water leaked into the shower. It took about three work order requests (a week or so) for them to come and fix this problem which was a health hazard. Not long after moving in, I also noticed a frequency of mattresses that other residents had put in the dumpster, it was almost a weekly thing. My neighbor informed me this was due to bedbugs - which she had also had because of the apartments. Despite my best efforts, the bedbugs made their way into my room in early spring. I had brought in all new furniture, yet the apartment management claimed that I did not have enough evidence to prove the bedbugs came from their complex. After my wife and I had disassembled the bed frame and moved the mattress and box spring (both of which had protective coverings around them- which we had to replace with new ones costing us $115) slept in the living room for about a month. We had to wash all of our clothes twice to ensure the bedbugs had not gotten into the clothes (costing us a total of about $150). We ended up throwing out our brand new bed frame since it had gotten so infested. For treatment options, the complex could bring an exterminator in to spray the room- an option that they would not guarantee to work. They conveniently did not communicate that this would cost us $300 until they already started treatments. On top of all of this, the exterminator could not even get into our room because the apartment office had lost their key, asking if I had changed the lock- which I hadn't. I had to give them my key so they could do the treatments on the bedbugs that they were responsible for. Living here was such a nightmare, I do not recommend this place.
I moved in to these apartments because there was nothing else available at the time. They are way too small and way over priced. During the move-in process, Tonya the Office manager, and Kim the Property Manager were nice and really seemed like they care for their complex, I thought maybe this wont be so bad. Nope. As soon as I moved in, that completely changed. When I moved in to my apartment, their was sitting water in the cabinet under my sink. the wood was horribly warped and molded. There were items left in the apartment by the maintenance dept. There was even rice and a dead roach in the kitchen cabinets that got painted over! they couldn't even be bothered to clean the apartment before I moved in! After living here for a little while, I noticed there was a strong smell of marijuana coming in from my vents. I do not smoke, and this was very off putting and made me sick to my stomach. I called the office to inform them that residents are smoking weed (which in illegal in this state) and I was told "What people do in their homes is not my business". Seriously?? This is your complex?! Roaches everywhere. the office just says "We know about it and are working on it" but I never saw any evidence of them working on it. Break-ins happening all the time. Nothing gets done. The staff doesn't care about any of their residents. They just want your money. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. I broke my lease and moved after just 6 months, I couldn't stand it anymore. STAY AWAY FROM COLLEGE PARK.
The appartments are substandard with small living areas and are completely over priced due to the location across from the college. The only saving grace is the polite maintaince man who tries to make wine out of water working on the grounds. The woman (Kim) who is in charge of the office is for lack of a better word, wretched. She over charged me on multiple occasions, refused to update my name in the system thus forcing me to pay under a previous tenants name and was down right rude. When asked questions she often wouldn't even respond back, ignoring me to my face or would shout from around the corner from her desk. If you have any self love, do not move here.
Several break-ins (we assume by previous tenant that has a key), many times we have come home to the keyless deadbolt locked with no one inside! Our complaints are met with "oh that's terrible" from management... DOGS OFF LEASH EVERYWHERE. Tenants let their dogs out from their back porches to go to the bathroom and don't pick it up and responsible pet owners get blamed because they're the one's seen taking their dogs out... ROACHES EVERYWHERE. Management takes at least a month with several notifications to send someone to spray (could legally break lease due to this)... Loud neighbors, barking dogs left on porches, rude management in handling complaints and work orders... Do not live here.
I have lived at this apt over 8 years and I had enjoyed it. Located across the street is Weatherford College, and the stores are just down the block. As far as living here goes, I can not think of anywhere the managers take a personal interest in their clients.Last summer, my AC went out and it took only two days for them to get me a new one. Also when my dish washer went out, it took them a week to order and install a brand new one. I am disabled and use a wheelchair, and there is a lip at the front door when I frist moved in they made a wooden ramp for me, then about 7 months ago they made a cement ramp for me. Another reason that this is the place for me to live, when I had to go the hospital back a few years ago, the managers made sure that when I got home I was okay and had enough food and anything else I may have needed. I can not think of a better place to live.
I Have lived here for about 8 years and never had a problem that was not fixed in a timely matter. They have fixed my ac with new parts and bought me a new dishwasher. They also clean my carpets whenever I ask them to plus whenever I have bugs they get the pest man right to it.I have a wheel chair and they made a cement ramp to the front door and an wooden one to the back porch. They always make sure that whenever I am in the hospital, that when I return home, that I am ok. I do not know of anyone else that would take the time to do this. I live down the from walmart and supersave, big lots. and across the street from the weatherford college.
This year was me and my good cousin Esteban's first year at Weatherford college. Like any other college students we were a little late on things, and one of those agendas was our living situation. We waited probably till the latest minute to go out and look for an apartment, with only a handful of them in this town we ended up taking the best we could which is College park apartments right Infront of the college. Not too shabby, but it by far wasn't the best of em like we planned. Well right off the back of living here we get the cops called on us for playing Xbox, while me and a friend were on the computer doing assignments that were due that night. We asked who was disturbed and it was a lady 2 building away staying we were being absurdly loud and obnoxious. Well we asked around and no one in our OWN building heard a noise. So we let it go and said sorry won't happen again, eel that was strike number one. Couple of months later me my roomate and a friend strolled in around 2 that night, when out of nowhere a drunk man, comes and punches our window walks in our apartment and just sits there. I call the police, inform the manager.. Who was sitting outside smoking a cigaritte when the accident happened, she does nothing until the cops come out and the man runs off to who knows where. All the manager told us was that it was all our fault so we had to pay 50 bucks for a broken window that was not even our fault, and as well as a strike number 2. After realizing how the managers handled things me and my roommate do nothing but watch tv at our apartment and let no guest over because it seems as they honestly dislike us. Also about 2 weeks ago I was on my way to work, when I realized I left my keys inside my apt, so I go to the managers office and ask can someone open my door I'm late to work please. Tonya the manager says its 20 dollars. I wasn't gonna hisitate because I was already stressed so I handed her the money.. That she put in her own wallet, grabbed the key and rudely opened the door. The reason for bringing up that scenario is because just last week I witnessed her opening a apt for a man who did the same thing as me, but I overheard "don't worry about it I won't charge you anything" can you say unfair? Anyways going in with my rants, the water is mocky, the apartments smell like straight smoke and waste. I could go on and on but this is why we are moving to holland lake Apts at the end of this month. :)
