Located just a few minutes south of Hartford along Route 2, Glastonbury is an upscale community with a great family-friendly atmosphere. The local schools earn high ratings, the crime rate is far below the state and national averages, and public parks abound all over town (including several scenic areas on the banks of the Connecticut River).
The town’s history as an industrial hub is still visible in many of the local buildings—the old soap factory in particular has been repurposed into high-end condominiums. The town likes to have a good time, and community events like the Apple Harvest Festival and the Glastonbury Art Walk draw big crowds from all around the area.

Property Ratings at Colonial Village Apartments and Townhomes
The apartments and townhome were overpriced and falling apart. Dealt with mold, leaks, water damage, cracks in walls and windows, and medicine cabinets falling out of walls. There was a lack of help from maintenance, though I would blame those who oversee operations. Kids were loud and ran rampant, leaving toys everything and screaming. Management just wants to take money wherever they can. Front desk was friendly, but that was the only positive. There’s so much turnover there too, probably because of the poor management. Also, there are clearly fake positive reviews everywhere… embarrassing.
The layout of my apartment is great, its updated and the kitchen has granite countertops and new appliances which I love. There's a lot of nice greenspaces, trees and lawn areas to walk my dog and get my daily steps in. The staff is friendly, responsive and maintain the property well. It's in a great location too! I'm very happy here.
At a first glance this place looks amazing, after you live here for a while you start to see what makes this place not so great to live at. I spent a little over 2 years here, and while it wasn't the worst place I've ever lived, I certainly would NOT recommend it to anyone else. There's absolutely nothing luxury about this place, the only thing it really has going for it is the location the bad: they just jacked up rent this year for a 1 bedroom by nearly 300 dollars lol. The parking situation is horrible here, they are by far the worst snow removal in all of snow removal, the plow would go through once to plow a small path, not even take care of the parking lot. When I first moved here there was no numbered parking and it was just one giant free for all. They for some reason added numbers to all the spots but then made the decision to not assign parking, so in the winter I would shovel out my wife's spot she was parked in only for when she moved someone else would park there and then often my wife would get stuck because she only has a 2 wheel drive car. They would not go back day later to clear out the spots that no one was parked in, and visitors would just park anywhere during the year and they would never enforce towing them after multiple weeks. The maintenance is nice, but very slow. I've only had 1 bad issue with them in the 2 years I lived there, both my ACs broke in the same week and the one in the living room they wouldn't replace at first because it was blowing air (not cold air). Needed to complain twice about it before they would replace it. There's often kids running around and screaming in the parking lot and also they would play in the downstairs storage areas when they didn't even live on our side of the complex. Better hope you have no neighbors surrounding you because you will hear their every movement. The "gym" is a joke, it's like 2 treadmills and a 5 pound weight. The laundry here is terrible, It always seemed like their was always a broken machine and then you have like 24 units or so competing to use 2 machines. People would never be courteous and take their laundry out on time, that's more on the other people and not the complex itself tho so I won't hold that too much against them, nonetheless it's still very annoying The good: great water pressure in the shower and hot water for days! location, and the neighborhood is very safe. Not once did i fear for my safety in this complex.
Ok place to live, you pay for location. If you are open to receiving condescending emails reprimanding tenants and hanging pool privileges over your head then this is the place for you. On a positive note I will say that staff that fixes anything wrong with your apartments are usually great people, but back office and the management company can usually care less.
Easy access to things like restaurants and stores, or serene and quality life is what you need to pick. This place doesn’t offer both. Other than convenient location and schools for family with kids, there is nothing good about this apartment. Poor management and penny pincher owner is also annoying. Smelly carpet in the stairwell and squeaky wooden floor in the units are not replaced for ages.
The only thing this complex has going for itself is the location to the center of town however, everything else makes it not worth living here. There’s constant noise from the highway depending where your unit is, the property manager never cares to let tenants know when work is being done around the property which can lead to excessive noise during work hours, they have an ant problem in multiple units and hallways, the apartments are poorly kept up which means maintenance will need to be called constantly, the plumbing here is terrible, there’s tons of dog poop left around, garbage will be a huge issue, and even the washer machines can’t even work properly. Considering the area and rent, we were hopeful for this apartment. However within 6 months, we decided we didn’t want to resign a lease. Your money could be well spent elsewhere.
These homes despite the good price are horribly maintained. Maintenance is slow or blows you off. The places are poorly built, the laundry machines are over priced and don’t wash your clothes well enough. The homes have poor insulation. They leave things broken and half-complete. Children are constantly running around screaming, leaving food everywhere, and playing in the parking lots. And parking is a free for all. DO NOT MOVE HERE. I am so glad I left.my mental and physical health are better because of it.
Moved in recently. You get a lot for your buck. Good sound barriers roomier than I thought. Updates are great and quick response to any concern.

Thank you for the kind review. We are glad you are enjoying it here!
We have lived here since october and love it. You get a lot included in the rent you pay. They are newly renovated with stainless steel appliances and hardwood floors. You can also walk to several restaurants. There is a whole foods within walking distance too!
