Property Ratings at Colony Oaks
The maintenance does not take care of the houses properly which has lead to 3 fires in 2 days. Now they try to blame it on the tenants. Never rent here.
Absolutely horrible. I've lived here 7 years and this place has done nothing but gone down hill. They don't clear the snow properly or maintain the amenities. The last two, going on 3, years the pool has been consistently closed. They say we can use the neighboring complex pool but when we went there, they wouldn't allow us to enter because they were having a residents party. So while Colony Oaks pool is closed the neighboring complex is over staffed with extra lifeguards and they are treating their residents to a BBQ with DJ. Huge slap in the face. And managment is a joke, they dont respond to emails nor do they care about their residents. Shameful, the only thing this property maintains is the landscaping. Constant...constant landscaping noise, mowers, blowers early mornings into late afternoon. This place has become a joke, can't wait to move.
Where do I even start? First and foremost the person who gives the tour of this property name is Valentine, she's a nice person when she wants to lease you the property but that's about it. She'll come off as condescending whenever you call and ask for any help or anything in that nature. They have a online portal where you can request maintenance to your apartment but don't expect any thing in a timely manner. our upstairs neighbor decided that it was smart to leave the water on in the sink which resulted in leaking in our house, anyone with common sense would know that the entire dry wall needs to replace because it would result and molding but not in this case, not at this property. They decided to simply paint over it. Weeks later the ceiling began to chip but assistance was given. also, there's a reason for all of the cats around the property. It's rat infested. Our apartment was decently clean so it wasn't us. The rats chewed holes in our food, no exterminators or any aid. Also the security deposit, don't expect to get that back. They will nitpick everything, they won't even allow anyone to walk through the apartment to advise you what you should clean. Make sure you clean with a high-powered flashlight because anything that they see they will charge you a cleaning fee for it. Including the rim around the sink, soap scum. The dishwasher, even if you use a dishwashing agent to help clean it, the oven, everything needs to be scrubbed to basically brand-new, in other words you have to leave it better than you got it. The charges aren't light either, they are pretty hefty. Nearly $500. LOOK ELSEWHERE.
I lived here between 2014-2019. Overall, the place wasn't bad. There were areas that were dated. The downstairs neighbor was a "crazy cat lady" that fed the feral cats and smoked cigarettes all the time. We couldn't open the windows very often. I would have given this a a better review if they didn't nickel and dime us on our deposit. They charged us $250 for "damages" that were explained as "kitchen floor, oven, cabinet door, and freezer were dirty". Knowing the maintenance people, I worked extra hard to make sure everything was clean and we cleaned the apt every weekend while we lived there. Please take pictures of everything when you move out. They are a bit shady once you leave.
I was living in this apartment for more than 2 year, then moved to different state due to job. It is the best apartment to stay in NJ. I will surely live in this apartment if i move back to NJ.
I wouldn’t rent here again. It is overpriced for size and amenities such as pool can’t be shared with friends without a fee. When you move out they will charge for nonsense in order to take money back from security deposit which to me is just low.
WE HAVE A ONE BEDROOM APARTMENT IN THIS COMMUNITY AND THE PRICE WE PAY PER MONTH IS RIDICULOUS COMPARED TO THE STATE OF THE APARTMENT. THESE APARTMENTS ARE OUTDATED UNLESS YOU PAY AN EXTRA $50 TO $200 A MONTH TO PAY FOR THE RENOVATIONS FOR AN UPGRADE. WE HAVE THE WORST QUAD IN THE ENTIRE COMPLEX, PATCHY GRASS, BENT LAMP POSTS, UNEVEN AND CRACKED CONCRETE SIDEWALKS. NO NEIGHBORS ARE FRIENDLY AND THEIR POLICY FOR SMOKING SHOULD BE CHANGED. NEIGHBORS UNDERNEATH SMOKE LIKE CHIMNEYS AND IT RISES INTO OUR APARTMENT (BEDROOM, CLOSET, BATHROOM ETC). I CANNOT WAIT TILL OUR LEASE IS OVER.
