Property Ratings at Continental Gardens
I would not recommend living in this apartment there’s cockroaches everywhere one time I got locked out of my apartment and I tried to call them and they didn’t even call me back or help me a person help me thank God for her I raise this apartment a zero out of 10 don’t live in here there’s a lot of roaches and there’s all so bad parking lot and there’s weird noises at the night so I wouldn’t recommend living here and the ceilings are messed up and so are the walls so I wouldn’t recommend this place.
Have no where to park your car and no garage that you have to pay additional money for? Sucks! Consider where to put your car first before renting or you'll get a neon sticker on your car that is nearly impossible to come off.
This apartments says that heat and water is included...not all true... the heat in winter time is barely on. They control the thermostat so they can turn it on and off when they feel like it.. and they set it like low so it’s always cold in the apartment.. then every year they increase your rent 3%. If you’re having issue in the apartment, it’s very difficult to get anyone to address the issue because you can’t get them on the phone! And when you go to the office in the premises.. there’s nobody there...so you just leave your name and apartment number and state your problem? My suggestion is don’t go here... find another apartment and pay a little extra and you get a piece of mind and better service and heat! This place will suck your money every year but they don’t do anything for their tenants!
The Good: Location is great. A few blocks from Trains and Buses to the City. 1/2 Mile from RT 4 and Paramus Shopping (Though the area is a nightmare during the Holidays) The Grounds are pretty, lot of grass and open Space. The Bad: Property was purchased a few years back by Kriegman and Smith. Since then the grounds are unkempt and Maintenance is basically non existent. Entry Doors and and Awnings are basically falling apart and walls will start to crack after the cheap spackle job they before you move in wears off. Buildings are very old and apts are relativity Small. Heating is by old radiators which make a lot of noise and cannot be controlled by thermostat. I can be ice cold all day, then the radiators go on at night and it gets so hot you need to open windows in the middle of winter. Parking is a nightmare. They do not enforce parking permits and you most likely will need to park blocks away if you get home after 6-7PM. Dumpsters are overflowing with garbage most of the time and is disgusting. Used to be a great place.
I've just recently moved out of CG only because of a new professional opportunity that required relocation, otherwise, I'd still be living there. I wanted to be sure I let anyone and everyone interested in CG know what a great place this is to live. Make an appointment and talk to the Regional Leasing Specialist, Allyse. She's simply wonderful. She'll answer all of your questions, no matter how many, and she'll ensure that your move in is easy. Once you're a tenant, Vinny is THE MAN! He takes care of anything and everything you might need in your unit. You ask once and it's done. I can't say enough about how amazing Vinny is but I'll say that I'm grateful he was there and everyone at CG is lucky to have him. I'd also like to say that I had wonderful neighbors, I enjoyed the neighborhood (the proximity to the city, shopping, transportation etc. is the best) and if I return to Jersey, I'll be back. Thank you to the entire staff for everything!
It's a shame I can't show you pictures, what a deal breaker that would be for you. I had to go purchase bug spray because management does very little to help. Centipedes the size of your hand, spiders when you kill the centipedes and even when you don't, parking is horrendous(don't be fooled), your neighbors are what you make of them, very old and creaky floors, very loud floors from second floor, mailbox area smells like a dead animal, and good luck sleeping if you move into our apartment. Not done. Pipes are very loud and the heater is disgusting, I don't even want to put my phone on it. I wondered if someone had literally moved out seconds before we had moved in. Neighbors are inconsiderate people who park in two spaces and you just have to try to not let it get to you as you circle around the block a few times for a space or park a couple blocks up. Mailbox area is nasty, bugs everywhere and idk if that was a waterbug or some massive cockroach but we have those inside the mailbox area and near the door. If you get two bedrooms, you'll have to install your own AC unit in the second bedroom. I am really suffering and so are my pockets from having to run the living room unit. I don't want to have to go and buy an ac AND a dehumidifier for the bugs when we're not going to be here for long. What a disappointment and waste of money, but we were able to get the apartment on short notice. No stars for that, you're just money to them.
My apartment was very clean. Alyse, the manager ( I think she's the manager)was amazing. Very professional and helpful. I love the area. Parking in the evenings can be a little hard but overall I'm very happy with my decision to move here.
Close to everything, awesome school district. Great management, very helpful with any questions I had. Love the layout of the apartment! Only downside is parking after 8pm is tough but I haven't had any issues.
One of the best locations to live in. Excellent school district, good location to travel to NY. The apartments are very well mantained. Very friendly office management and so professional.
I recently moved in and love my apartment. The apartment was clean, updated and within my price range. The leasing agent was helpful, friendly and very professional. She responded quickly to all my emails and calls and also answered all 20 of my questions. The entire process was easy from start to finish.
Property Manager at Continental Gardens, Responded To This Review
Thank you Very Much for such a great review! We work really hard to always make sure that you receive this kind of quality living and we love hearing from our residents. We also made sure that our Leasing Manager, Allyse received the proper recognition for her efforts! She's awesome isn't she! P.S. - WELCOME HOME!!!
There are reasons why the rent is cheap, that's because the apartment is poorly managed and the facility is sub standard. 1. The parking space is limited. They don't enforce parking. That means anybody can park in the apartment. If you come home late, you can rarely find parking space. You need to walk long distance from street parking, if you can find one. Alternate parking regulation becomes active in surround streets when it snows so you have even less parking spaces in snow. 2. Property manager rarely picks up the phone and replies your call. I have tried many time to communicate with the property manager. She rarely picks up the phone or replies to your call. 3. Insects are everywhere. Unless you become a friend with insects (ants, spiders, etc.), you will have a miserable time at the apartment. 4. Virtually no sound proof. If you rent a first floor apartment, you need to put up with the loud noise of people walking upstairs, not to mention their TV and music noise. 5. Heat is scarcely on. Yes, heat is on, but very briefly. It becomes very cold late night when heat is off.
My brother and I moved in here as first time apartment renters and the process was nice and smooth. Good size apartments for a good value and great location near shops and public transport (bus stop right out the door).
Sizeable living room and bedroom. Kitchen needs serious tlc and it's quite small. Bathroom is adequate but also needs updating (pink tub and sink) Corner unit at fairly busy intersection, so loud. Lots of windows, because of corner location. Location is good, otherwise: near a school, church, park, and shopping. Parking available for one vehicle, but lot fills up most nights.
