Surrounded by some of Washington, DC's most beautiful places -- the National Cathedral, Smithsonian National Zoological Park, Glover Archibold Park, Rock Creek Park -- Cleveland Park is in no way overshadowed. In fact, this elegant neighborhood, with its historic Victorians and mature trees, holds its own as one of DC's prettiest locations.
Cleveland Park dates back to 1793, when an aide to George Washington built an estate named Rosedale. Soon, other residents followed suit. It was considered an upscale suburb at the time, and (aside from its name) not much has changed. While row houses and apartment buildings have lured new residents to the neighborhood, Cleveland Park is still home to many wealthy Washingtonians.
As you look at Cleveland Park apartments, be aware that the neighborhood features two commercial districts: Wisconsin Avenue and Connecticut Avenue. These streets are filled with restaurants, bars, shops, and entertainment venues like the Uptown Theater.

Property Ratings at Conwell
Let’s just say everything on the outside is great about this place. Pictures great. Great location. But the management, even though they’ve changed it about 500 times since I’ve moved in, sucks. So does Maintenance. My dishwasher, ice maker, washing machine, and tub were all broken when I moved in and maintenance took almost 2 weeks to come for each service. I, also, suggest some sort of surveillance when you’re not there because if maintenance comes when you aren’t there they do next to nothing. Also, even if you ask that they call before entering, they won’t. And to really put the CON in Conwell, should you decide to renew your lease, they will for sure try to make the price higher than what is allowed for a RENT CONTROLLED building. So you better know your laws and math.
Great location, very close to a Giant grocery store, good restaurants, the 31, 33, and 96 bus lines, a dog park, and the National Cathedral. Also a very kind and helpful maintenance person and cleaning person. That’s about it for the good. The management of this building is unresponsive and unhelpful (I know someone in the building whose AC broke in early May and it was still not fixed by October!), one of the two elevators in the building is always broken, the mailroom is a complete mess with disorganized piles of packages, and the entire building reeks of weed and tobacco-smoke.
