Property Ratings at Cooper River Plaza Apartments
This place is awful and overpriced for what you get. The building is extremely outdated and in desperate need of repairs. The stairwells, hallways, and walls on each floor are dirty, have chipped paint, and smell. There is always something out of order in the building. One week it will be the elevators the next week they will shut off the water unexpectedly and you’ll have to go all day without hot water. The parking is also a nightmare if you come home after 7 pm you will have nowhere to park your car. They do have a paid garage that is extra on top of the already high rent but there is a 2+ year waiting list. The amenities you get are all overpriced such as the pool which is not included in the already higher than average rent price. I also hated the washing machine room most of the machine are extremely dirty when you open them up they had brown water and hair, lint, and who knows what else in there. They should really have a crew come and clean them weekly. We ended up taking our clothes elsewhere because everything we tried to wash ended up smelling dirty and moldy after using the machines: We’ve also had several emails in the past of crime in the area. They have had several attempts with people doing smash and grabs in the parking lot. We had to move out since we have kids and we didn’t feel safe or comfortable in the apartment. Would not recommend renting here it was a nightmare living here.
While living here we had a car broken into. There have been several smash and grab attacks at this building. and multiple attempts with people in masks looking into cars late at night. Leasing office wants to pretend like the area is safe when it’s not (so they can keep hiking up rent prices for new renters every year). These apartments are extremely outdated and have serious water damage. You can tell they just paint over everything instead of updating the facilities. Under the kitchen sink we found mold and water damage from previous renters. These units also have really bad water flow issues because of old outdated pipes. If you’re unfortunate enough to get a unit with bad water issues don’t expect them to ever replace anything. You can tell they couldn’t be bothered to fix up the place properly the only thing you will get is a new carpet when you move in. Most things will be smothered with white paint to hide issues. Also the hallways everywhere constantly smell awful. There are several dark stains on most of the carpets in the hallway which are embarrassing to have guests walk through when visiting. Certain areas of the building reek of moldy water and BO. This is on top of the whole exterior and interior of the building looking run down and dirty. Besides the first floor lobby which they actually fix up with cheap arm chairs so people don’t see anything run down during tours every other floor in the building is falling apart with moldy dirty carpets, walls with peeling paint, and bad smells especially from the trash rooms on each floor which reek of rotting garbage. Most of the washers and dryers are run down and out of order. You’ll be lucky if you can get one they are constantly in use for hundreds of people they barely have any machines and that’s if they are all working (usually at least 4 are out of order for parts for months). Also when you open the washers they smell of mold and dirty water and are brown and discolored from never being cleaned so your clothes end up smelling worse after washing. To make matters worse there is always an elevator out of order meaning you’ll have to wait several minutes if you live on the higher floors or sit in a packed elevator like a sardine. The worst part of living here for me was the water boiler not working for several days at a time. No joke they will randomly shut it off with no hot water while they made “repairs”. I remember the boiler being broken at least 3 or more times a month!
Location is great, but that’s where the positives end. I’ve lived here since 2016, so I have 8 years of experience to share. I moved to this apartment suddenly, after a breakup, without reading reviews. I’m writing this review to give prospective tenants an honest assessment of living here. 1. WATER SHUT OFFS: (THIS IS NOT AN EXAGGERATION): The water has consistently been shut off 2-3 times a month on average, usually through the entire work day, almost always for two or more hours, often without notice at the least convenient times. Even when the water hasn’t been shut off recently, the bath water is often dirty or rusty when I first turn it on. 2. ELEVATORS IN DISREPAIR: Expect one or more of the three elevators to be out of order. It’s not unusual for two of the three elevators to be out of order at the same time, and they regularly use one elevator to carry trash down to the dumpster. It’s even worse when a tenant reserves an elevator when they move-in or move-out. I have personally been stuck on one of the elevators for 10-15 minutes when it stopped between floors. 3. LAUNDRY ROOMS OUT OF ORDER: I have never witnessed all of the washers and dryers working at the same time. There are almost always three or more machines out of order, and I’ve seen more than half of the machines out of order at the same time. 4. STAFF: The Maintenance Team, Doormen and Rental Manager are good and decent humans, doing their best considering the circumstances, but the Building Manager is disrespectful and ignorant. 5. SUMMARY: I DO NOT RECOMMEND Cooper River Plaza Apartments to anyone who expects the most basic amenities.
Management not great at all beware of this apartment complex will not recommend and they too overpriced for how they are kept terrible the head Management doesn't care about anything that goes around at the complex terrible has been terrible for years but it is getting worse.
Pros- The doormen are very respectful and always speak to me when I see them. The entryway door lock after 6pm so people can’t just walk into the building. The building itself is very clean and it’s in a great location. Love that they have washing machines and utilities are included Cons- the walls are very thin!!! You can literally hear your neighbors even if they aren’t speaking loud. This is honestly the only serious annoying thing for me so far. Parking after 7 pm can be difficult. Overall great 1st apartment. I would definitely recommend
I have been living here for almost a year now and I absolutely love it! The people are nice and the management office is on cite in the building. It's a very comfortable place to live and affordable. You just have to worry about one bill, which is rent, since the water, the gas and the electricity are all included. The only issue I have to be honest is the parking!! There are too many cars and not enough parking spots at times... You can sometimes see people parking on the fire lanes since they can't find a spot, just like me since I work late and get home late. I would give it a 5 stars, but the parking ain't good for the most part.
I HATE LIVING HERE and it hasn’t even been a year. Looking for a new apartment and to break this lease ASAP. Even applying the lady in the office is rude. There’s never enough parking. They have well over 300 tenants but only like 100 spaces. It’s ridiculous and the cops will come around and give tickets to people parked on the side. They shouldn’t be allowed to do that. The maintenance staff is sweet, they’re the only thing I like about this place. The doormen are decent but if they disappear for 2 hours there’s no way to get your packages! The rent women are idiots. I pay with checks and I’m not sure how many people do it. No one told me there was an online option so I had bought checks so now I just use them. I always make it my business to pay my rent early, never made a late payment. My rent was due and it fell on a weekend holiday so her staff got lazy, didn’t empty the rent box and now you want a late fee? It’s Christmas time. You’ll get it when I feel like it and that’s only because I’m a hothead, I’d rather pay then go to jail for hurting everyone in that office, morons. As I type, these jerks have been running the fire alarms for over an hour, it’s 8:30-10a. I understand you guys want us to be safe but this extremely inconsiderate and extra. Especially since it’s the 12th and the flyers posted around the building said this test would be ran the 10th. The building is dated and since I’ve been here for these past few months, the middle elevator and random things in my apartment have been broken, like my front doorknob. I noticed under my sink there must’ve been a past leak that molded and they just kept covering it up with wood. Who knows when the heat will ever kick in but I have no way of controlling it. Walls are advertised to keep sound in but let me tell you they’re paper thin. I hear my neighbors kids screaming like banchees. Tune it out with the a/c. I only recommend living here if it’s your last option.
Pros-Apartment has good location, by the river and shuttle to city center. Cons- it has worst management. No matter how clean you leave the apartment, they will find some or other way to deduct heavy amount from the security deposit. Heavily infested with rats - highly dangerous and unhygenic. Management doesnt bother.
I have lived here for 3 years, one bedroom apartment on the first floor. It was good as a first apartment being a single professional, however lots of pros and cons: Pros: excellent door staff (Marty is great!), clean mail room, quiet for most part, great location, maintenance was prompt for minor needs, utilities included, affordable, most other tenants are friendly. Cons: the “fire” exits are disgusting, specifically the one closest to the parking lot near the pool. This was how I got to my apartment and how my guests came in, I was embarrassed always bc it is filthy. The cement walls are covered in black dirty marks, it looks like a parking garage in Camden City, not an entry way to home. The garbage room was in the hallways and in the summer it would reek and even make my apartment smell like garbage, trash left in stairways and took several days to clean up, pool is extremely overpriced for nothing special, laundry is in basement and the only way you’re getting a washer or dryer is if you’re up at 5am- not nearly enough for the amount of tenants; also have to pay to use the washer and dryer. Hallways smell of cigarette smoke. Bathrooms don’t have ventilation and walls start to peel from hot water. Other than that, this apartment serves its purpose for me but I’m ready for something more mature and clean!!
I lived in the apartment for 2 years. Getting maintenance to fix anything was a project and they would just show up whenever they pleases with no warning. The apartment I was living in had no kitchen ventilation so everything would get greasy and sticky no matter how hard you cleaned. I loved the door staff and the leasing manager and the rest of the building was very nice. My apartment experience was just a little underwhelming
not smoke free as a matter of fact you may get a contact high
Nice place to live, great office staff, maintenance staff and grounds. apartments could use a little updating/ renovation overall great experience
Cooper River Plaza Apartments are minutes from shopping malls, restaurants, movie theaters, ect.. The apartments have amazing views of cooper river, and Philadelphia sky line, and only 5 minutes away from the Walt Whitman bridge! All utilities are included in your monthly rent, even ELECTRICITY!! My apartment has modern upgrades, a breathtaking view, and is very quiet. All of the neighbors have been friendly. There are onsite laundry facilities, and a mail room. Mail slots are also located in the hallways of every floor if you need to mail a letter! The maintenance staff there is wonderful, and always willing to help. This is also a secure building with a doorman. Parking lot fills up quickly on the weekends and late night, but I still love calling this place home!
Pros: Great views of the Philadelphia Skyline or Cooper River Park depending on which side of the building you live on Close to all major highways (70, 38, 130, and 295), bridges ( Walt Whitman, Ben Franklin, and Betsy Ross), and the PATCO highspeed train line Near all the high quality restaurants in Collingswood and Philadelphia Located right next to the scenic Cooper River Park, a great place to run or exercise. The park regularly hosts festivals, 5k races, boat races, and outdoor concerts Located in a safe area The staff and residents are very friendly and polite (especially Marvin and Chester the maintenance guys!). In 3 years I've never had a noise complaint, and maintenance promptly fixed any problems I had Plenty of parking around the building Rent is fair, barely increases each year, and ALL utilities are included in the rent (except cable) Cons: It costs money to join the pool each summer No gym Its an older building. Not falling apart by any means, but some of the decoration is dated Only 3 elevators, so there can be crowds and waits during peak hours No central air. Units have wall mounted air conditioners provided by the management Some of the bigger units have the option for washer and dryer, but otherwise you have to use the public laundry room which is small, expensive, and usually has a machine or two out of order Overall I really enjoy living here, and would recommend it to anyone. The positives outweigh the negatives in my mind, Especially for the reasonable rent charged
I have lived here for 23 years and wouldn't think of moving. It's the best address in Pennsauken. The building is elevated, with a huge laundry room on the first floor and a 24 hour mail room. We have doormen and wonderful staff both for maintenance and in the office. My closets are roomy and large. One closet is large enough for my washer and dryer. We are in a rent controlled section, so the rent is great for the young and aspiring, the middle aged who are ready for an empty nest and the senior citizens who need fixed expenses without a nursing home environment. Lovely place to live. My friends are always asking about my address.
When I was searching for an apartment, I was extremely nervous since I was moving out of Philadelphia but was still employed in Center City. I have a modest wage and was pleased to see all of the extra benefits that come with being a tenant. First of all, utilities are included! That is always a plus. Second, there is a deli/coffee shop/dry cleaners in the basement of the building which is so convenient! For someone like me who relies heavily on those things I was extremely grateful - especially since I do not have a car. That brings me to my third point, they have a free shuttle for tenants to multiple drop-off locations in Philly! All I had to do was mention I was interested and the next day I could hop on and be dropped off two blocks from work. The staff is friendly, particularly the doorman, but they give you enough privacy to live your life and not feel watched. Other perks are a pool (with membership), a parking space included with the rent, and close access to the interstate and Cooper River Park! I feel away from the city even though I get to watch the sun set over the skyline every night. Highly recommend this to anyone living in New Jersey but working in Philadelphia.
I probably would have moved there but if you have a dog, you are relegated to a few apartments on the bottom floor, in the back of one building staring at the parking lot with absolutely no choice of a view and being on the bottom floor one would surely, rightly or wrongly, have security issues. People walking by could always see what you are doing and probably would make the dog bark every time a person passes by. There policy is just not updated enough to provide properly for people that have dogs. Therefore, I had to pass on the apartments which is a shame because I really love Cooper River Apartments.
From the beginning the manager and the office staff worked with us they were and they are awesome. The location is great right across from Cooper River Park. Our neighbors are great, maintenance staff are just wonderful, everything get fix promptly, doormen are great. All utilities are included so you just write one check and you're done. The only one thing we wish was different is that we could pay our rent through the Internet. Again we love it, love it, love it!!! Recommend to all.
I originally came here because it is: -Close to work -Across the street from the park. -Close to stores, friends and family. What I didn't anticipate is what I got. When it comes to the main office. Make sure whatever they/she tells you she is going to do, get it in writing or it will never happen or she will not remember. I've been here for almost a year and when i first moved in, the carpet was so dirty, but was told that it would be replaced. Getting it replaced was easy once your get corporate involved. There is no type of ventilation in the apartment. You want to take a hot bath, forget about it. The water comes out brown and has yet to be fixed. Jerry is one of the maintenance men and he is so awesome. He will help you with whatever you need. He's always there when you need him. they need more people like him working here. Rich and Bob work the door and they are also awesome people. these three people alone make me want to renew my lease. they make it mean something because this place is dull. It has no liveliness what soever. The carpet in the main lobby makes you feel like your living in the 1950's and the dullness of the lobby makes you tired as soon as you walk in. Even the hallways on each floor are dull and boring. there is nothing that pops out to make you say wow this place is nice. More like, oh this place is DULL, BORING AND DEPRESSING. DEPRESSING DEPRESSING AND DEPRESSING. The price is ok but I'm pretty sure you can get more for your money somewhere else.
I live in East building of cooper river plaza. I like the apartment in all aspects. But only thing which is of a concern is the MODE Of RENT Payment. Why do we have to write and give Checks every time? It would be great if online payment is made available like other apartments do.
-Was there for 3 yrs. reasonable rent price. -All utility included and free transport to philly. -must need car for grocery and school. u can get basic things nearby dollar general and public transport is nearby for grocery and school. -maintenance is good. -ladybugs will come inside the apt through window. It will not hurt anyone. -mice is there. must need mouse trap. u can get it in apt office. if u have kid must put them in crib or bed. It may hurt kid sometime if they sleep down. -full safe and secured. -Indian community is also there. -nice place to go for walk. -overall cheap and best place to live. -must keep ur apt clean to get back ur deposit.
I have been living here for almost a year now. And i love it more everyday. Honestly, yes, the building is on the older side, but if you're not paying the amount of money you would for a 5 star penthouse, don't expect it to be one. For the money, you're getting great values. You can't beat the price, the location, and the friendliness of the staff around here. And i did have to report a shower issue when i first moved it, it was fixed the same day and the maintenance staff did the job promptly. Most of the people who live here are also very friendly.
My daughter & I visited last month. We got to the building and were trying to find the office when we saw a worn woman smoking outside of the front door. She said "oh, you must be looking for me". It was downhill from there. We viewed 2 different apartments that were run down and smelled like smoke. We were told by woman sales agent that the hallways are not air conditioned in the summer or heated in the winter. The day we visited it was 95 degrees and so was the hallway. The carpet in the apartments were worn and dirty, the air conditioner vents were damaged and the bathrooms were old. The agent then showed us the laundry room- it was the best room we saw- clean and brand new. So long and short- unless you absolutely need to move here, look elsewhere.
Policies change daily. Hard to get repairs done in the apartments. When going to office to report issues in the building, management does nothing about it. I would not recommend this apartment complex.
