Copper Beech has been an amazing place for me so far. My apartment has been great, no serious issues and any small issues I did have, the leasing company resolved quickly! Definitely recommend, especially if you have a pet, my dog loves all the open outdoor space

I just moved in the staff was so friendly in helping me navigate everything, my apartment has beautiful new floors. I also love that my dog is super welcome he even came to sign my move in papers with me at the office and got all the pets! The pool is also a huge plus! First year living at copper beech and I have to say I love it, the community is great, the management team is so awesome, and really try to communicate when there are issues with things that can affect residents. Management holds fun community get togethers and are so helpful and friendly. Great Place to live all around.

This is a great community! Management, staff and maintenance are always so helpful and caring! They are pet friendly as well, which is always a plus!
The office staff are friendly and helpful, maintenance go above and beyond, and they make a great effort for the upkeep of the property.
I have had a great time working with this team. They are always quick to answer my questions and make any adjustments needed in my unit. The location is perfect for students or singles or families. They have a good mixture. Definitely would recommend.
All the negative reviews you will read are true. Apartments are not well maintained and some don't even have air conditioning. They will charge outrageous "damage" fees when you move out even if there are none (close to $1500). They charge nearly $500 to "paint" even when the walls aren't damaged or scuffed. $500 to clean... $100 to shampoo carpets that will be filthy when you move in, so clearly they just pocket that money. There are countless other reviews documenting the same situation. They don't prorate and will charge you a whole months rent for 1 week and kick you out way before the 12 month lease time frame. The whole property has fleas and there's cockroaches in the stairwells. They send eviction threats for as little as $5 on your account (even though I was told I could pay it with the next rent). The maintenance people are nice but not very good at their jobs. The sinks back up filthy water and it's poorly insulated so your electric bill is high. My first week living there, a new tenant used their key given to them by the office to enter my apartment (they mistakenly thought it was their unit). Me and my guests watched the deadbolt turn from inside the apartment. They gaslighted me when I asked them to change the locks because I didn't feel safe. If you bring your concerns to them, they are rude and condescending because they have obviously never done anything wrong. In fact, they will likely leave a rude, invalidating, and gaslighting response to this review; as they have done to others. It seems like they are just taking advantage of young college kids who don't know any better. Their greed, incompetence, and animosity really casts a negative shadow on the town of Radford.
Friendly community and staff. Rates are just right, the wifi is fast and great location plus they have a pool.
The staff is always so helpful and willing to go the extra mile! The resident events are super fun, thought out, and almost always have food!

This place is a hole. The one they show you when you take a tour is well done. Not so much the other apartments. I have 2 sons attending Radford, the eldest using his GI bill to cover some of the cost so this place looked attractive as far as the pricing, but the attraction ends there. My wife and I moved them in last weekend and the first thing we did is spend 2 hours filling out the existing damage sheet. Stained carpets, holes in the walls, appliances from the early 70's and counter tops I would not wish on anyone's mother-in-law. On the outside of the building the gutters are falling off, vinyl siding too. Every exterior surface is stained. Noting a decent pressure washer would not fix if one had the inclination to use said pressure washer. The road and parking lot is more hole than asphalt and it is fairly tight quarters. Our kids will be there a year and then move on to something else. Beware this place may be affordable in price but it is cheap with everything else.
So where to begin on how horrible this place is well first they show you an apartment and swear its gonna look like that (one of the key reasons i chose this was you could lock your bedroom door with a standard key to keep roommates out of it) well my apartment looked nothing like the one they showed me. The carpet was uncleaned none of the doors had locks the patio door didn't have a lock most of the light bulbs were out and the walls were filthy. nothing was cleaned the AC doesn't work half the time and the maintenance guys cant be bothered. Then the kitchen has a fridge that is too cold and the stove is from the 70's. Then the parking is a wreck so you need a pass in your window or they tow you simple enough. Well problem is they do not tow people from the main lots. They only have a handful of visitor spots and they are in a secluded area. Well they are always are full and then they will tow you if you park next to the spots that are filled in a secluded parking lot that no tenant parks at. And they use a shady towing company and it is $160 a night. So please take it from me DO NOT RENT HERE!!!
The rent is reasonable for the size and space of the apartments, but leasing office staff is terrible. They are very rude, unprofessional, and clearly don't care about the safety of its residents or issues that go on within the complex. They frequently just don't respond to emails or phone calls. There's absolutely no security of the buildings, anyone can walk in and a single deadbolt is the only form or secretly. I've lived in a number of "student" apartment complexes and this by far the worst. Maintenance staff was great, but that's about it.
I’m giving this apartment rental place a semi decent review because when I lived there I didn’t have too many issues considering it was 2 years. But I will say absolutely do not rent from this place if you care about your money and hard work. Copper Beech refuses to believe your honest and will charge you rent twice even with proof of receipt because still “lack of funds” on your account, even though you paid exactly the rent total... also move out is a nightmare. I took pictures and disputed a charge for a hole in a carpet they charged me and even with proof they denied my request (also Carpets aren’t placed good to begin with). I moved out of state and started a job so I do not have time to fight it furthermore. You’ll also get charged for cleaning regardless as well as anything maintenance fixed for you while you were in the apartment such as a microwave fixture breaking. All I can say is Pay more and live somewhere with honest and trustworthy staff that care if you can afford it... never again.
Apartments are so old with appliances and flooring over 50 years old. Absolutely nothing has been updated! When moving out, residents are expected to have the carpets cleaned by a professional and provide proof!! Who expects this of college students??? Especially when the carpets (and everything) is so old! All this is a set up so they can keep your security deposit. I guess this is what you get if you don't figure out your housing early enough
The apartments here are in need of updating and the management is inconsistent and unwilling to work with tenants. Due to the holidays and being away from town I had previously been advised that rent was due by the 5th or otherwise late. After making a special trip back to town on the 5th to pay rent I was advised I owed a late fee. After never being "late" before they were completely unwilling to consider the circumstances or discuss what I had previously been advised. If you are looking for a place to call home look elsewhere.
Let's see. I went in for a tour of the two bedroom duplex's and i ended up loving the duplex well then I moved in to a two bedroom duplex august 2014. Worst decision of my life. When I first walked into my duplex, the whole house smelt of cat urine not to mention the carpet was sticky and looked as if it hadn't been vacuumed or shampooed, these are easy fixes i thought and went on with my walk through I then noticed the very thin (unsafe) windows and a back door which was off its hinges, i went into the kitchen and noticed a leak under my sink with at lease 2 inches of standing water (HELLO BLACK MOLD!!!!). Our cabinets were broken and multiple drawers! I then started upstairs... I went into the bathroom to notice a leak under the sink and feces on our toilet seat.. AS IF THIS WASNT ENOUGH i went into the bigger bedroom and opened the closet to be smacked in the face with a horrid odor of cat, THEN i went into my bedroom (the smaller) and noticed my closet had no knobs and there were holes in the celling. My roommate and I put in 32 work orders for the house.. and by September only 4 had been fixed. FOUR out of 32. We had to dry our clothes 7 times before they were dry in our dryer, our sink has leaked since we moved in, Our electricity bill was 500 dollars FOR ONE MONTH with the heater on LOW! MIND YOU MY RENT IS 340! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY unless you are renting a newer townhouse, DO NO RENT A DUPLEX!
