Property Ratings at Coral Bay
Never had any major problems here! some of the reviews are a little ridiculous considering this is apartment living! If you want better parking and other things buy a home! Apartment living does come with some complaints but this place has taken care of little things! The office staff is always helpful, and the property manager has personally came and check an issue I’ve had and made sure it was addressed properly! When we moved in everything was clean; and ready to go! No complaints!
I am almost 6 years here and the maintenance staff is wonderful. Miguel has been here many times over the years and goes above and beyond to complete any requested repairs. I always know they will be here for me and do a great job.
Unless you want to have your packages stolen constantly don't move here. I just had a $200 textbook stolen from my porch and I have seen mail theft here first hand. The price you pay monthly to live here and not have your own parking spot is not worth it. I have a video of someone hitting my car and the car behind them trying to get out of a parking spot on the street, and that happens all the time. In the laundry room closest to our apartment we had 2 out of 4 washers broken for at least 3 months, and management did nothing about it. If prices in San Diego were affordable I would move literally almost anywhere else. Also, the walls are paper thing and I can hear *all* the activities our downstairs neighbors are engaged in. Do yourself a favor and don't move here.
I moved into my new apartment at Coral Bay 2 weeks ago and I have really enjoyed my stay so far. The pool and gym are fantastic! The view of the canyon is beautiful and the location is amazing! I worked with Jayme during my application and move in process, I highly recommend her! Her professionalism and communication was excellent and she made my move easy and enjoyable !
I came across coral bay apartments, I had a couple questions and spoke with Jayme. She was so helpful and gave me tons of information regarding these apartments. Thank you so much for your help Jayme!

Thank YOU for the very kind review! We sincerely appreciate the love! :-)
Sit down for this! If you don't get any add ons like pet rent, a garage and a parking pass, it is very cheap, but it adds up quick. If budget is your priority and don't mind a hot, small apartment and plenty of noise. 1)Noise-I could hear my neighbor's alarm at 4 am through our shared bedroom wall. Sounds also echos very well from the street and units and you can hear people on the sidewalk and street as if they were in your apartment. So make sure your close your windows if you don't want to hear everything as loud. 2) Dishonest Staff- I was roped into signing the lease because I was promised an updated kitchen and new carpet. The one I was given intitally had stained carpet and smelled of cigarettes. The kitchen was not remodeled and the units here are for sure not up to code. Although their webiste lists A/C as a feature, the leasing agent that showed me my new place was surprised that it even was there and said they don't provide A/C at all. 3)Unprofessional- Leasing agents and management are not on the same page, like ever.I was also interrupted and treated very disrespectfully when trying to explain my situation or try to ask any questions. 4) Facilities- The door to the nearest laundry room to my unit had a broken door handle the entire time I was there. On multiple occasions, transient folks would use the facilities (I'm not mad at that, but for the price I paid here, I wasn't too thrilled. Also, there are 2 laundromats within a 10-minute walk in either direction) The "playground area" for kids was just an empty area with mulch. Other samples of how the actual unit was like: The heater in my unit never really turned off all the way, the summer is miserably hot (unit is a noticeably hotter than outside in the summer), the shower always leaked, toilet always ran, heavy condensation on the windows in the winter would leave puddles on the carpet and create mold. Parking is very difficult anytime after 4pm if parking on the street OR even if you have a parking pass. 5) Neighbors- Something is in the air here, I have never been surrounded by so many messy and loud people! Like I mentioned at the beginning, I have lived in a few different apartments around town, and this place was especially wild. Cops are always coming by, loud parties, domestic disputes, fighting dogs, and kids vandalizing public facilities.

I moved into Coral Bay last month and worked with Lani. She found an upstairs two bedroom with a water view. I love being able to jog or bike to the water. My dog loves all the grassy areas and seeing the other dogs on the property.

Absolutely infested with bugs. Will need multiple treatments at the minimum if they're ever gone.

Since my first day here (mid March of 2020) I have had nothing but problems. The problems keep continuing and it just keeps getting worse. The ONLY reason they aren’t getting just one star, is because the maintenance team is so nice. They aren’t good, (I don’t think it’s their fault but the companies fault for being so cheap) but they are nice. I absolutely hate living here and if it wasn’t so expensive to break lease, I would leave ASAP. If they win you over with amenities and parking, laugh while walking out. We had to get a garage and it’s too far and impossible to get into with how crappy parking is here and they won’t move me closer without charging me more. There is never anywhere to park and sometimes have to park over half a mile away and you can’t use any of the things they talk about in their ad. Save yourself and find ANYWHERE else because I can assure you, it’d be better.

Warning apartments smaller than advertised!!! After having my girlfriend move in and bringing her stuff here from New Jersey I discovered the apartment felt a little small. I decided to measure and the 810 square foot apartment measures out to about 700 square feet, pretty unacceptable in my opinion, I have contacted the leasing department about it and they told me they would look into it. As of today they still falsely advertise the size of their apartments. I believe the one bedrooms are also incorrectly advertised. Please correct your ads and stop misleading people. Apartment was not terrible but by no means nice either. My apartment didn't have a thermostat for the heater and had a broken exhaust fan for cooking. When I asked about it I was just told that that's how it was and parts were not available for the exhaust fan. Lots of spiders! Leasing department is friendly but definitely needs some improvement. I got a call one day that they had received a package for me months after they had gotten it.
I have no choice but to leave a bad review, as I was mislead by management, and not told about the broken heater for the pool. It will not be fixed until May, so I will be paying for an amenity that I can't even use. I also asked if the complex is under any flight paths, and I was told 'no'. There are airplanes and loads of helicopters that fly right over the complex. With very thin walls and single pane windows, it is very loud when they fly over.

I had good feelings about this place from when I fist walked in and Jessica greeted me with a great warm smile. She has very helpful form beginning to end and everything went to smoothly. The gym and the pool are my favorite places. I can see myself living here for a very long time.

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful experience! We also hope you will live here for a very long time :-)
I have moved here in June and I and very happy with my choice. Its a very central location, close to the beach, bay, restaurants and to the freeway. My apartment is adorable and It have a lot of breeze. I love the amenities and my dog loves the dog park. The staff has always been very helpful, specially Jessica. Since my first visit until today she's always been delightful to work with and always willing to help me in whatever I need. Great place to call home!
Cherie en la oficina es la mejor trabajadora. Atiende y explica todo muy bien y con paciencia. Siempre saluda con una sonrisa. Coral Bay le toca 5 estrellas gracias a la señorita Cherie.
Coral Bay was one of the only properties that accepted my 90 pound husky. After looking at many other places and being told my husky was too big Coral Bay was heaven sent. They have a cool fenced in dog park for my dog to play in with the other dogs. The dog park is next to Tecolote Canyon where we love to hike. There is also a golf course and they are next to Mission Bay so we never get bored. We will definitely be here for a while. Ask for Lani if you're looking for a place, she is happy to help you find the perfect home.
We are relocating to San Diego and came across Coral Bay Apartments. The leasing staff was highly informative and helpful and has made the relocation process seamless for us. Jessica was attentive to our needs and was such a pleasure to work with. We are thrilled to find an affordable space that meets all our criteria, is centrally located and only a 10 minute drive to the beach.
I highly recommend this place! Close to Mission Bay, major freeways, airport, schools, etc. Jessica in the office is amazing. Very patient and helpful in answering questions. I don’t think I will be able to lease here, but I am for sure going to let others know about the property
Yesterday my fiancé and I visited Coral Bay Apartments for a tour and we had an amazing experience. We were warmly greeted by Jessica who made us feel welcomed and answered all of our questions. The property looked beautiful, clean and it had everything we are looking for, specially great prices!!! We are excited about our new home and we feel peaceful about knowing we will have amazing people like Jessica and the other staff members that are always willing to help and facilitate the whole moving process for us.
Cherie in the leasing office is the best! She is so nice and genuine. Coral Bay apartments is located close to Mission Bay and a very central location at a great price! I highly recommend Cherie and Coral Bay apartments.
I highly recommend this place! Close to Mission Bay, major freeways, airport, schools, etc. Cherie in the office is amazing. Very patient and helpful in answering questions. I ended up not leasing here after all,due to personal reasons, but whenever I need to rent again in the future I will definitely be back! They have a pool, tennis court, even a theatre. Not a luxury apartment complex but definitely worth it and the cheapest around.
My husband and I moved from Indiana to San Diego about a year ago and moved into coral bay apartments and it has been the WORST place we have ever lived by far! First problem we had was the neighbors underneath us! They literally would call in fake noise complaint and bang on our ceiling nonstop even when we were sleeping, we have always been respect and do our best to be as quiet as possible but these walls are paper thin that you can barely breathe without getting a complaint. Second problem is parking, even though you get a parking pass but if you aren’t in the parking lot by 5pm good luck finding a spot. Third problem is there is a lot of hot headed people that live here, so unless that’s your thing then I wouldn’t recommend this apartment complex. Would not recommend to family, friends, strangers or even a homeless person. It has been that bad of an experience. Nonstop problems since we moved in. Just beyond stressful and not worth it.
I just moved in 4 months ago and realized right away what a terrible decision I made. I was short on time so I needed to rent a place fast and this one seemed nice enough but now I definitely regret it. When you come to see the apartments, they will only show you a model so you assume that the apartment you get will be similar. Wrong - the apartment I got is just gross. The appliances are from the 90's, the carpet is old and dingy, the bathroom is ridiculously small, it looks directly out onto a courtyard on both sides and to other apartments on either side so you have no privacy and hear every little noise going on. On top of that, you can only get ATT for your service and my service has been interrupted three times already, thereby requiring an ATT repair guy to come out so that means ~1 week with no internet, waiting for them to come. The ATT guy said that this is typical for new renters because other tenants apparently steal the cables and divert it to their apartments (?)! Additionally, the trash cans are always overflowing, there are homeless people digging through them or milling about the laundry area. For parking, there is nowhere to park after 530 PM within 4 blocks of your apartment so I had to pay additional rent for a garage but the garages are ridiculously right AND they arent even electric - you have to get in and out of your car to open and close the door, which is ridiculous for the price your paying for everything. THeir idea of an upgrade was to replace the old brown garage doors with, just as ugly, new brown garage doors. I have never hated an apartment this much and am even considering breaking the lease at this point to move, even though I will only be San Diego for another 8 months. Dont move here!!
Liked everyone up until my car got towed for being over the line. As crazy as everyone parks sometime u can't help it Or sometimes you need more space because u can't get your baby out of the car seat. Like my place not so much the office management. Customer service has became 0 stars. Also the garage areas should be remodeled to look like they're worth renting and not make the area look dump. Buildings need painting too!
I wish my cabinets were more updated, homeless didn't roam the property like 5th street in LA, and Dog owner picked up their poop. BUT the property is great, club house, gym, pool, and close to Fiesta Island. Great place to be! Rebekah in the office is so kind, and responsive in a great timely manor! I love this place! Have a down to earth staff member is great, I'm so over these stuffy, robot business lame-os!
I met with Rebekah, about a couple things that were upsetting me, Dog poop outside my place, a couple blinds needed replacement, and my garbage disposal was making a funny sound. I told Rebekah at 10 am, everything was picked up and fixed by the time I got home at 3pm. I was surprised. All the old places I lived at took at lease 3 days to take us seriously. I would recommend going to Rebekah, if you need anything looked at or fixed. She's great!
My places has been infested with cockroaches since I’ve moved in and they won’t leave because of the poor condition of the buildings. I did not sign up for this.
I love living here, and the staff in the office are all awesome people. They are very helpful and great people to talk to. Anything you need they are always there to help. Thanks Coral bay staff! You made my move much easier than I expected!
Nice place. Simple. Easy to access stuff. Pretty close to th bay. Nice gym. Rebekah’s cool
I love this place. Close to sprouts, the bay, the beach, and its quiet. I love how our windows have more than 2 feet from my neighbors. Its great. I moved from the city to over here and its great. Rebekah was the person who helped me. She was super personable.
I had the honor of working with Rebekah, she was very sweet helped me move in, in a snap. If your looking for a cheep place to go, building are kind of old but work well for a sinlge male. Go asked for Rebekah, she's great.
I came here last spring, and I have got to say, it's pretty cool. I love that the community park is within walking distance. This place comes with a gym too, I love running on the treadmill. If you want to know about the area, ask Rebekah, she was very helpful and kind. I'd recommend this to anyone who want's a decent sized living place to themselves, or a young couple.
I love this place. Rebekah showed me the property she was super helpful honest and sweet. They have a huge pool and dog run it's great!
Save yourself a ton of hassle and rent elsewhere. This property is poorly managed. Lie, cheat and steal must be the motto. While the paint on the outside is fresh the units are disgusting! Paint so thick it peels off the wall with the humidity. Counters so pouris that anything spilled will stain. ZERO parking after 6pm. Shootings nearby, drug/alcohol paraphernalia and public intoxication all the time. Loud, dirty, unsafe....the list goes on and on. If you by chance read a positive review, don’t believe it. The negative reviews will be your actual experience here. Don’t be fooled. Save yourself a horrible living situation and don’t rent here. It is a NIGHTMARE!!
I've lived in these apartments for 6yrs and I strongly do not recommend considering living here for the following reason: 1. There is absolutely no parking available after 7pm on a weekday -- good luck finding a spot after work and don't bother inviting company over. 2. These are renovated naval barracks from the 1950's and the walls are paper thin -- you hear EVERYTHING. 3. There is frequent loitering of Clairemont tweakers in the area and the garages are often burglarized. 4. The swimming pool is always full of mexicans and they bring their entire family, moreover there are always people coming to the pool that are no longer resident but kept their pool key. The jacuzzi is broken more days of the year than fully functional. 5. Coral Bay increases your rent 6-8% EVERY year. 6. Being that they are price competitive in this oppressive housing market, your neighbors tend to be drug addicts living 4 people to a 2 bedroom. These are just a few reasons I can think of off the top... do yourself a favor and spend the extra $200 a month and find a more enjoyable place to live as I am now.
please do not live here .when you go they will show other apartment and they will say is exactly the same but after you sign the contract and they give the keys you will found the apartment is not the same all the kitchen stove and all the cabinets are very old just they paint for cover just a little bit, included the bathtub and moldy bathroom .since the first day the cucarachas will came .(i see cucarachas in the kitchen since the first day i open the apartment. (was really a nightmare for me and my family)no matter if you are very clean .(one day i let just 1/2 cup of tea and the next day were maybe 50 cucarachas inside) i see cucarachas since the first day (i move from other state and i did not bring nothing here) i buy all new and i have to put all in the garbage ! i loose all my stuff here other thing .the parking is very bad !never you will found.the gym is a garbage only the pool is good ,but still always is full and if you have kids please don't send them other thing the bill water ,garbage disposal.and all other stuff that they charge always is different they over price....they really no matter still if you speak with the manager they don't think that we are human. i leave the apartment the day 31 .they already rent to another family ! they only paint and no disinfecting no change the rug!!!! still when i said that i loose all my stuff! i can't believe!
This place is terrible. Roughly a third of the washing machines are broken and they don't replace them, they just move them around the complex. They also can't keep the dog bags stocked so there is constantly dog waste everywhere. You pay 100% of your rent but never get 100% of what they promised.
I went to see these apartments, a woman named Rebekah showed me around the property. They have a dog park, pool, and a gym that's opened until midnight. Its so close to this wonderful Pilates studio, right within walking distance. If you are thinking about renting a home here, make sure to request Rebekah!
Rebekah is a super helpful person who helped me showed me this apartment when looking for a new place to live.
Rebekah was very respectful and kind when looking at apartments. She wasn't pushy and very honest and welcoming. The apartments are very clean and nice looking. I like the style and architecture of the building itself on the outside and inside. I would definitely live here
Coral bay apts takes the helm when it comes to the convinience . One thing tthat seperatesbthem from many is that they allow pets!!!. They have a kind and wonderfull staff that are very paitient and would do their best to work with anyone regardless of their current status. They understand. They have an excellent gym, tennis and basketball court and a really amazing swimming pool that goes all the way to 11feet. And their jaccuzi is always clean and well looked after. They have alot of garages and parking spots that are conviniently by your apartment. the apartment comes clean with everything from the bathroom to the kitchen refurbished and the wonderfull trees that bear oranges are a bonus aswell. All in all i give it a 9/ 10.
The location is the best thing about this place. Right above Mission Bay and 10 minutes or less from everything. On the downside, the parking is a nightmare. Don't expect to find any in the lots or on the street after about 7 or 8. I had spider issues from day one so spraying for bugs every couple of months is a must. These apartments are old and the bedroom is very small. Trying to fit a full bedroom set is out of the question. There isn't a lot of counter space in the kitchen which can be annoying if you cook everynight. There is quite a bit of cabinet space in the kitchen but the pantry is very small. The bathroom has a pedestal sink and only a medicine cabinet for storage. There are 3 closets in the hall that can be used as a linen closet and extra storage. If you live on the ground floor you can hear the neighbors above you. It doesn't really bother me but we have had our neighbors complain about our music being loud when it really wasn't loud at all. Another thing is that I know there have been some break-ins in the neighborhood. The maintenance guys are great and really friendly and always fix any problems you have quickly. The office people aren't very helpful most of the time. There is a pool but its always packed with families until 9 when it closes. There are several laundry rooms on site and sometimes the machines act up or your card won't work and you have to buy another one. This isn't the best place but like I said, the location is stellar and you won't find anything cheaper in this location. We deal with the little things and overall it's fine.
This is the best apartment complex if you want a very quick walk to the bay, quick drive or cycle to the beach, and beautiful scenery with lots of outdoor space. It has a business center with free 24-hour wifi and many computers to use, a recreational room with free yoga, zumba, and work-out classes for residents, a gym with lotss of machines and flat-screen TV's, and a pool jacuzzi. This place is awesome for families looking to save money but get great quality, or even just college kids who need to live somewhere affordable and close to school. Also, maintenance staff is always happy to oblige with free fixer-uppers if something breaks or needs replacing. And it's pet-friendly! It makes me not want to move away - cheap AND nice, spacious places are almost impossible to find in coastal San Diego.
Very poor administrative staff. Extremely unresponsive and honestly can be quite rude. The apartment is alright. Basically what you ask for nothing special. The toilet is against the wall with the toilet roll dispenser so if your ever sitting down the roll is smashed against your body.
Apartments are a little small and overpriced for what you're getting. Did the dishes one time and realized the sinks were clogged. This is something that should be checked before a new tenant moves in. Majority of apartment is carpet except the kitchen area. Parking is terrible. Was given one parking pass to park in assigned parking area. The second person can park on the street but this could be many blocks away in a not so safe area at night. If you're parked on the street and leave any time after 4 p.m. to go to the store you will most likely be parking at least 3 to 4 blocks away. Hope you don't have groceries... I guess there are two positive things about this place. The windows are huge to let in sunlight. The downside to that is only a small portion of the window opens up to let the air in. The second positive thing is how close it is to the beach.
This apartment offers wonderful apartments, and is a very family friendly place.
The apartments are nice to live in but the outside appearance is something that definitely catches your eye, but not in a good way at all.
let's just name a few things.... BLACK MOLD, faulty plumbing, disposals that do not work, dog feces every where, trash over flowing, and horrible parking. my car was hit several times, and the apartments do not assign paking spots. Laundry facilities are always broken and never clean your clothes.
Although we did not end up renting from coral bay we looked into this apartment extensively. The staff in the front office were extremely helpful. They sent us many pictures of the apartment and complex. This was very important to us since my fíance is deployed and I am out of state at the moment. We had a friend go and look at the apartment to measure out the neighborhood and he said it was a very nice neighborhood. We ended up not going with this apartment because it was a little too far from my job, but we wish we could have. The apartments are very nice and clean. The complex looks great and you can't ask for a better location when wanting something by a beach.
Parking is impossibly and and management has no plans to improve it. They will tell you to "rent a garage." They don't tell you that garages rarely become available and the chance that they are in any proximity to your apartment is very low. If you come home after rush hour you will not find a spot even though the permit dangling from your mirror suggests that one should be available to you. Good luck finding on street parking, that is un-permitted and hard to find as well. Some apartments have been outfitted with new kitchen cabinets. It is not worth the premium they charge for these "updated" apartments. The garages and the exterior of the apartments are badly maintained. Pealing paint, leaking roof overhangs, loose moldings, termites in the garages, and flickering lights. The landscaping is nice though there are fleas in some of the areas.
