Property Ratings at Cornerstone Estates
DISGUSTING! No matter how much you clean, ROACHES are EVERYWHERE! it's disgusting. The parking lot sucks too. The big hill is terrible to drive up in the Winter. You got to have really good tires. NOT WORTH LIVING HERE.
I rented at Cornerstone about a year ago the 1205 building. It was a nightmare. I had floods, roaches, mice, etc. My heat went out a couple of times in the middle of winter! I finally had enough and left with 2 months left on my lease. I was very unhappy here, the roaches and mice were disgusting. If you want cheap rent and don't care about the issues I noted above go or it, but buyer beware don't put yourself through the agony.
Moving here was the worst mistake I could ever possibly make. The apartments are nice on the inside and are rennovated which is true. But on my first day here about a week ago we ran into roaches. My boyfriend and I have already put in our 60 notice to leave. I hate that I moved here no one wants to live with roaches that we knew nothing about an exterminator came out but none went away. 1205 building has them 1225 building doesnt. I would not recommend moving here. We tried to get out of our lease the first night here, but staff was not willing to work with us etc. They know they are wrong for keeping us, but we're making moves to get out asap. Save yourself the headache . Dont move here. Its cheap rent that cones with roaches. This is the 100 percent truth.
I have been living here for a month and I love the location and my neighbors have been wonderful. The main issue I am having is with management, the manager isn't available and even though she lives on site a lot of things do not get taken care of. Also, the manager forgot to mention that the unit I was renting was roach infested prior to me moving in. I am aware that will scare a lot of prospect tenants but to not mention it at all did not prepare me for my move. I have a 15 month old son and would of liked a heads up considering I put my security deposit in a month ahead of time. Management has yet to handle my complaint of the roaches and this place has new management due to the last ones not keeping up with code. I have to say they are not off to a good start. Now I am reconsidering if I should move to a new place after my year lease is up because I don't feel comfortable at all in my new apartment due to the roaches. I am highly upset about this and really would of liked some kind of communication but management has been avoiding me and is very unprofessional. I love the location and it has it's conveniences with kmart, gas station, bus line access, and downtown st.paul all within a 5 to 10 min walk/drive. Also, my neighbors are awesome but this issue is a bit of a deal breaker, I don't think I will be staying here long, I see that they have had about 5 new tenants move in within the month outside of me. That could be a concern also having a high turnover like that and there are still about 3 vacancies in my building alone, just be weary of the management. Places with sketchy management are a concern for new tenants I suggest know what you are getting yourself into before coming here and ask lots of questions.
The buildings have recently been renovated, so the apartments have been updated and look very nice. This is my first apartment: I have a one bedroom. I felt the price was reasonable for someone on a budget and since they had been renovated, I really felt like I was getting a fair deal. The staff I have dealt with have been pleasant and friendly. It's a smaller complex, just two buildings with about 60 apartments. I haven't had any issues with neighbors, in fact I can rarely hear anything through the walls (you can hear more walking through the halls passing by doors). I personally have only had one irritation: the people above me were kind of noisy, but with hard floors and young children, I didn't make an issue of it. In my opinion, there is plenty of closet space. The living room and bedroom are plenty spacious. As a female who likes to cook and bake, I find the kitchen and dining areas a little tight, but I can make it work. They are nicely done with newer appliances and there is no wall dividing the kitchen from the living area. There are laundry facilities on 2 of the three floors than function using credit/debit cards. I find this a plus; no worrying if you have enough quarters!) I have hard floors in all rooms except the bedroom (I assume this is true of the other apartments, too). Cats are welcome and garages are available for a little extra. The downsides: 1) the complex is right next to the highway, so in the summer if you have an apartment facing the highway and the windows open, you can hear the traffic 2) the neighborhood isn't the greatest, but is supposed to be improving, which brings me to 3) the doors to the apartments only have one lock (seems like there should be at least two) 4) only the first floor apartments have access to outside space 5) no dishwasher 6) the air conditioning unit is in the living room, so the bedroom can get too warm in the summer (I purchased two inexpensive fans to push the air into the bedroom, which helped significantly) 7) west facing apartments can get kind of warm in summer at the end of the day if the air isn't running 8) We have had issues with the outer doors not functioning properly, but they seem to get fixed fairly quickly. Overall, I feel Cornerstone Estates is worth a look. For me, the price was worth the location.
Nice apartment with a newly renovated kitchen. Decent amount of space with enough room for husband and I. Only things we don't like is the location and construction everywhere around us currently. The parking lot is also not the best because there is a big hill down and up to the parking lot which is difficult to get up in the winter.
