Property Ratings at Cornfield Apartments
We just wrapped up 5+ years in a one bed, one bath ranch and had a wonderful experience overall at Cornfield. I would recommend living here to anyone. While there are some cons as I will mention below, no apartment complex is perfect and the good most certainly outweighed any bad. We loved our time here and feel you get a great bang for your buck! Pros: - Safe and convenient location - close to gas stations, grocery stores, mall, highway, etc. - Private entrances, patios, and basements with washer/dryer hookups - Amazing value compared to neighboring complexes - Easy going neighbors & friendly office staff - Could barely hear neighbors next to us Cons: - Could use some updating overall - appliances and ACs are older, walls were rough with spackle patches, windows leak a lot (window plastic is a MUST). - Snow removal is stressful if you are unable to get a spot away from the fronts of buildings and quality of snow removal is subpar.

While the apartment has a few nice features - private entrance and full basement, there are many things lacking. There is mold in the buildings and no sign of it being powerwashed any time soon. The asphalt is badly cracked and it would be nice if some kind of road sweeping was done atleast annually after all the salt in put down in the winter. The property has declined in the 3 years I have lived here and many of the people who live here are disgusting. Their back patio areas have so much junk in them it feels like I live in a project. The staff does a good job and is very responsive to our needs but 2 maintainance, men is not enough for a complex this large. Sadly, it is like every other complex run by a management company - it's all about the budget. THe rent goes up annually but I see nothing to show for it. I would love to have my appliance upgraded to something newer _ I have the originals but only new tenants get that opportunity. The windows don't fit properly and with electric hit the bill in the winter can be in excess of 300 - ouch!.... all in all, I will be looking to move
I had the misfortune of moving next to someone who not only smokes cigarettes but constantly grills and the smoke and fumes infiltrate into my apartment. The cigarette smoke permeates into my unit through heating vents, pipes, cracks, etc. and the grill smoke flows in through the sliding glass doors. It has been a nightmare! The rent is overpriced for the substandard construction, poor insulation and lack of amenities. Buildings are not insulated properly -- if at all. It is freezing in the winter. There is electric heat so the bills are sky high with an average monthly winter bill of $300 Windows are poor quality and have actually come out of the frames when I've tried to close them. They don't align properly with the framework, so there are unprotected gaps. I've had to put tape around them bugs don't get in.
The apartment complex is quiet and very well up kept. Very friendly management and staff. The apartments are clean and spacious. Didn't have any issues moving in when we requested an earlier move in date. We where lucky and the apartment came with updated appliances. Great place to live. Very close to the mall and restaurants.
I absolutely love living here! I live with my boyfriend and its a great size for two people. The bedroom is spacious, a little weird of a shape but we fit our Queen size bed and 3 dressers still with extra space. The kitchen is a little miniature sized but fine for one or two people. Definitely recommend living here!
