Lafayette is located in southern Louisiana. It has the rich culture you would expect from a Louisiana town. Also, because it is a college town, it is very much concerned with education. People of all ages, cultures, and personality types will find that Lafayette is a pleasant place to live.
Lafayette has many beautiful neighborhoods. Different people like different areas of the city for their own reasons. However, the south side of the city is typically the most sought after. The area surrounding the University of Louisiana – Lafayette is known as the university area. This area, as well as Lafayette’s Downtown District, is more urban in nature than other parts of Lafayette. It is possible to walk to the school, local restaurants, shops, and art galleries. Broadmore is mostly residential and home to people of many different ages. This is also where the Thomas Park Recreation Center is located. Broussard, Youngsville, and Scott are small cities on the outskirts of Lafayette.

Property Ratings at Cottage Landing
Just sad and shady management. Will do anything to get you to sign a lease and give them your money. Lied to me more times than I can even count at this point. If i could afford a lawyer I promise I would win a law suit. Just live somewhere else, There’s much better places for much cheaper
If I could give negative stars I would. They Lock you in a lease and do not give you the option to buyout. Was originally moving to Lafayette to attend ULL so I was looking for a place to stay a year in advance. I called them and they said that I needed to sign a few documents to get on a waiting list to have the chance of getting an apartment. Months go by and I run into financial complications and am unable to afford going to ULL and an apartment with it. I tried to terminate the lease and they say that they cant do it and the only way i can terminate the lease is if i pay the first months rent with a few hundred dollar security deposit, which wasn't terrible. However the also said that I NEED TO FIND SOMEONE TO RENT THE PLACE IN ORDER FOR ME TO TERMINATE THE LEASE! I don't live in Lafayette and I don't know people in Lafayette so how would i know people who want an apartment. So now they are still charging me month by month taking money from me I don't have (Which is why I wanted to terminate the lease in the first place).
I lived in the Cottages for 2 years before moving out. I have never had a problem with the staff that works there, and they really helped me out whenever I had a problem. It is definitely within walking distance from UL, I would either ride my bike or walk. My biggest issue was parking, because there was hardly enough parking for residents and almost no parking for guests. Another issue was the "walk-in" gates were not secure, and broke often. Other than that I loved the two years I spent in the Cottages.
I have lived at the Cottage Landing since they opened. Within their rental price they include wifi, cable, and a clubhouse that has a workout room and free printing area. They are very attentive to their residents and we have never experienced a problem that was their fault. All of my issues have been roommate issues. The only thing I would change about this complex is parking! There is barely enough parking to fit all the residents. We only have 6 visitors spots and for a college student complex, that is not a lot!
