Property Ratings at Cottages at Chapel Heights
I regret signing a lease here SO much. Don't move here - many issues, CHEAP construction and scammy business practices. The apartments look really nice, but it's just that -- looks. They are built as cheaply as possible. These units were prefabricated and shipped here. They have cut every possible corner they can, saved every penny possible. There aren't even standard sized water heaters, they literally don't even hold enough hot water to fill the bathtub. There are condenser type units outside that are literally attached to the outside of the bedroom wall and they are EXTREMELY loud. They actually shake the wall and the floor. I can not sleep in my bedroom. I literally can not use my own bedroom as a bedroom. This is absolutely ridiculous. They charge $60/mo for satellite internet that isn't even in your own name, the account is owned by the complex, and you can't even call customer service if you want to. You have to call the leasing office, which is open until 5pm Monday-Saturday. I've had an issue with an Ethernet jack that hasn't been fixed for 5 days. The leasing office keeps telling me "we will update you when we can". There is not even a coax jack in the apartment. There is a massive gap in my front door, I can literally see outside. I told them about this 5 days ago, but I'm told for some reason they can't purchase the required tools to fix it yet. The HVAC system is what is called mini-splits, and they're terrible. They're loud, they don't work very well, and you can't even ever turn them off. My washing machine was broken when I moved in, and they gave me access to the apartment above mine to use the one in there. When the washer hits its spin cycle, it shakes THE ENTIRE BUILDING. I can literally feel my couch shaking while it is running. It is so loud in my apartment. I can't imagine what it will be like once the one in my own apartment is fixed (its been 5 days). Not to mention the crazy loud refrigerator. The pictures they have on the website of the park are not a part of the complex, that park is at the church down the road. It also says on the website there is central HVAC, and "Beautiful Landscaping", when in fact there are literally just piles of rock surrounding each unit. The apartment descriptions also say "Hardwood Floors" and they most certainly are not hardwood floors. Seems they do not care very much about ethics here. All in all, the places look nice, but don't let the looks fool you - it's not worth it at all
