On the eastern bank of the Hudson River lies the suburb of Troy, New York. With a population of almost 50,000, Troy is an affordable city with great rental opportunities. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Russel Sage College are two great universities in Troy.
Golfing is common in Troy with the a 247-acre public course with 18-holes, an ice rink, tennis courts, and a nature trail that surrounds Bradley Lake. Frear Park Municipal Golf Course is a great place for the family, located on Lavin Court. Closer to Hudson River on River Street, there are notable bars and restaurants such as Brown’s Brewing, classic American grub, and Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, southern-style meats and draft brews in a retro setting.
After you become a resident of Troy, travel over to the river and get a drink at Lucas Confectionery, an industrial-chic wine bar, and visit Riverfront Park to enjoy the picturesque views of Hudson River.

Property Ratings at Country Gardens Apartments
I lived here for several months, needed to move out early due to a change in life circumstances. Apartment was freshly redone with new cabinets, appliances, and flooring. 1 bedroom apartment was spacious and cozy, and walls were thick enough that you didn't hear everything happening in the building. Main downside was the laundry situation and cost. Granted it's cheaper than going to the Laundromat, the washers were small, requiring you to do more loads than typical. There's also an inability to use anything other than hot water, which can impact certain fabrics and clothes. Overall, a positive experience and I'd recommend to anyone.
I am on my 5th year of living here. In the past 2 years, under the new ownership, rent has gone up 40% and quality has gone down. There are dog satiations overfilling with poop bags, it takes days to get snow cleared, and walkways are hardly salted. I've had problems with my kitchen sink backing up for over a year and nothing has been done to fix it. The worst part is the THEFT. In the past 6-8 months, I have had countless packages stolen and the property owner refuses to put up security cameras in the mailrooms. Please look elsewhere and save yourself a massive headache.
I lived here for 5 years, and during the time living there it was great. Maintenance very responsive, outside area kept clean, and for the price I was paying it was very spacious. However when I left I was stuck dealing with the owner for my security deposit. My family spent days and money getting the floors professionally steam cleaned, cabinets scrubbed down, holes in the walls from portraits were spakled and ready for paint, but that was not enough. They owner claimed that he had to pay a thousand more to get the apartment ready and threatened to come after me for the charges. Reading other reviews online it seems like this is his usual tactic for not paying back security deposits. It's cheap and beautiful, but if you want your deposit back take plenty of pictures and prepare for a fight when you leave.
I've lived in this complex for 8 years now and I absolutely love it. I've lived in a one bedroom, two bedroom, and two bedroom with a den. The one bedroom is the perfect size for a single person or a couple. The two bedrooms are incredibly spacious and an absolute value for the price. The apartments are redone before you rent and come with nice clean appliances and carpeting. The maintenance staff is friendly and polite and always available when you need them. The office staff is equally lovely. The property is very well landscaped and a peaceful place to enjoy a walk or an outdoor cookout. It's one of the only places that allows cats without exorbitant monthly fees. It's conveniently located to several grocery stores and shopping centers, and only about 10 minutes to Albany. Every time I've called the office, someone answers right away, and if there's a maintenance concern they are so fast to respond. The winters are especially nice here because they are out plowing at the first sign of snow. Overall it's a really great place to live in a nice area and a whole lot of bang for your buck!
