Tucked in the northwest corner of Cook County, suburbs such as Hoffman Estates, Palatine, South Barrington and Schaumburg vary widely in personality and composition. Schaumburg, the largest in population, is home to Ikea and Woodfield Mall, the largest mall in the Chicago area. Palatine, developed on a wooded marshland, comes in at a close second in size. Hoffman Estates, while smaller, is the most densely populated of the four suburbs and is home to AT&T's Midwest headquarters and Sears Holding Corporation. South Barrington, tiny in comparison, and arguably the most affluent in the area, is home to the famous mega church, Willow Creek Community Church.
Heavy traffic can double or triple commute times, so area locals know to check the highway reports before leaving home. Normal drive time into the city from this area is about 30 minutes via the Interstate 90 tollway. An easy 20 minute drive will take residents to O'Hare International Airport.

Property Ratings at Country Glen
I've lived at the Country Glen Apartments for eight years now, and finding this location has given me a very happy lifestyle, meeting wonderful people in my building who became my friends. It is convenient to all the major highways, shopping centers, and anything anybody could possibly want in a friendly safe neighborhood. The rent has always been affordable, the maintenance staff are exceptional, and the manager of the building is always available, friendly, and helpful to resolving any issues quickly with professionalism. I can honestly say without reserve I wouldn't want to live anywhere else, which is why I continue at Country Glen after eight years and foresee living here for many more yet to come. It has all the conveniences inside the apartment, the closet space is enormous, the washer/dryer is conveniently located right within the building, and the parking lot is spacious.I would and I have highly recommended this apartment complex to friends who are seeking a new place to make their home where they will be well taken care of for years to come. Bugs everywhere And no proper pest removal services ..... maintenance is poor on the grounds or doesn't exist all together, graffiti on buildings and entertances .... parking is a nightmare ..cant have friends or family over for the weekend without parking passes or the will be mercsisly towed without hesitation. ... rent is to high for the units... laundry facilitys are always busy and very dirty or they don't work...
My lease is almost up and its an ok place if you're just starting out but the parking only has 1 assigned space (not 2) and sometimes you have to park a few apartments down from yours just to find a spot at night. It was built in 1975 and not much has been upgraded (appearance wise). I've never had a bug problem though so that's a plus. I don't think every apartment here is the same either. Mine is all carpet minus the bathroom and kitchen but others have hardwood in certain rooms. Just make sure you pick the right one.
This is my first real apartment in life besides the apartments I lived in in college, which don't count. The apartments aren't bad. I appreciate the wooden floors although you can tell they were cheaply made because with the humidity, the floor rises. I know it's more common, but I know it's more common amongst cheaper made floors as well. I could usually do without carpet in the bedrooms as well. Especially because I feel that the carpet in the bedrooms isn't of good quality either. There are these carpet balls that were there when I moved in and I've only lived there for about a few weeks. As with a lot of apartment buildings, you can hear a lot of what is going on upstairs. The apartments come with a fridge, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and a wall unit for air-conditioning. The neighbors aren't bad. Although every friday and saturday night, expect some bachata to be blasting in the evening hours. Thankfully, not into the morning hours. Every apartment comes with a balcony area and one assigned parking space. There is ample parking space for a second car in your household, however it is harder to find a parking space after 9pm when everyone has come home for night. The area itself isn't so bad. This is part of a huge complex in the suburbs (safety central), and apparently there is a pool within the complex although I've never come across it. I think the only real drawback in living here so far is that it's right off of a very busy street, Lake Cook Rd, and attempting to turn left onto Lake Cook Rd to get to highway 53 in the mornings, usually takes about 5-10 minutes due to rush hour. So plan ahead in the mornings as always. Happy Renting!
