In many ways, Arlington’s Clarendon/Courthouse neighborhood leads a double life. On the one hand, the mix of upscale single-family homes and swanky apartments combined with the super-convenient access to Washington (just a mile away and served by multiple Metro stops) make this an ideal location for DC-area commuters seeking a more suburban home environment. The abundance of parks and playgrounds reflects the family-friendly nature of the community, and the local public schools are among the best in the region. Parts of the neighborhood also contain several corporate high-rises, giving many folks the option of walking to work.
However, Clarendon/Courthouse also has a lively, fun side. The neighborhood is generally known as the nightlife capital of Arlington – the robust bar and club scene along Clarendon Avenue attracts partiers from across the DC area on weekends.

Property Ratings at Courtland Park
I moved to a newly renovated Courtland Park apartment approx. three months ago. I have been incredibly satisfied with the building and the people operating it. The front desk people are always willing to help and are kind and friendly. I had a maintenance issue and the front desk person went out of their way to ensure it was resolved quickly. And maintenance was excellent as well in resolving (even a different, low impact request for fixing the screen I broke). I would recommend Courtland Park (And the Court House/Clarendon area) to anyone looking for a fun, beautiful area outside of DC.
This building is undergoing a large apartment renovation project and is often quite noisy inside. I would not recommend living here until that's finished, which could be quite a while given how many apartments there are in the building.
If you like to shop, eat, socialize, exercise, commute easily on the orange or Silver lines, or just sit in your apartment all day, this location is great. Apartments of various shapes, sizes, and prices - with private balconies. If you get an apartment that faces west, you will be able to grow a garden on your sunny piece of property. Apartments are cleaned pretty well between rentals. They also may have some deals going - so don't be afraid to ask. Parking is available for an additional $50 per month for the first car. There are also storage spaces available for rent - though you could choose a apartment with larger closets. The people who work the front desk are very friendly. Maintenance requests are taken care of quickly. Gym in building isn't too busy, and there is a red room and a community room. Water, trash, and sewer are included in the rent. You are responsible for the electricity (electric appliances and heat and air conditioning), and if you get cable, phone, or Internet. Building currently only has ability to get xfinity cable and Internet. Verizon available for land lines (not cable based). Washer/dryer and dishwashers in units. The only drawback I have found is no pets allowed in the building. I didn't have a pet before moving in, but now want one (probably because I cannot).
CP is well placed between metro lines (10 min walk to Clarendon, 5 min walk to Courthouse) and is adjacent to a number of bars, restaurants, and other venues. Whole Foods and Trader Joe's are a 5-10 min walk away for all your grocery needs. The staff is courteous and someone is always at the front desk monitoring access. The building is a little older, and needs a few updates, but is otherwise a solid place to live.
Courtland Park is overall a great place to live. The apartments are spacious and in good condition. Some of the appliances are a little date (i.e., the oven does not have a self-cleaning feature, the dishwasher is not as strong as a more modern model), but in the balance it's excellent. Master bathrooms also come with a whirlpool tub. The walls are thick enough between apartments that noise does not carry, but within apartments they thin enough to hear loud conversations. Other amenities: Maintenance is excellent and always comes within 48 hours to fix issues. The gym is fully equipped with every possible cardio and weight lifting machine and rarely crowded. The apartment offers a community room with free wifi. The concierge receives packages (and never loses them, in my experience). Trash shoots are on every floor, but recycling has to be taken to the garage. Most importantly, the leasing office staff know who you are, are very willing and able to help, and fair with lease renewals.
