West Hartford combines small-town charm with a big-city feel. The downtown area features plenty of historic buildings, while contemporary additions to the area include a mix of apartments and homes and a revitalized retail area at the center of town. West Hartford has a village atmosphere just 120 miles away from New York City.
This area sits six miles due west of Hartford's city center, and a short drive east on Interstate 84 gets you to Downtown Hartford near the banks of the Connecticut River. Hop on Interstate 95, and head south two and a half hours to reach New York City.
West Hartford Public Schools services the area. Several private institutions provide educational alternatives, such as the American School for the Deaf, Hebrew High School of New England and Kingswood Oxford. The University of Saint Joseph, University of Hartford, UConn Law School, UConn Med School, and Trinity College represent the local institutions of higher education.

Property Ratings at COVE West Hartford
I have lived here for almost a year and I love it! The residents are super kind, everyone minds their business and management is great. Everything is about a 10 minutes distance either way you go which is very convenient. Maintenance comes promptly whenever something needs to be fixed. My deck has been redone and I can use it now. Parking is not assigned but I've always been able to find a spot.
so I've seen some pretty mixed reviews about this place, and I genuinely believe it's not as bad as they make it out to be- as long as your expectations are managed. pros- 1.Renovated units with an energy efficient AC/Heating system 2.no issues with contacting leasing if there's a problem 3.good value for apartment size 4.balcony (currently getting renovated...I guess this could be a pro or a con) 5.decent location with easy access to Blueback Square and the WestFarms Mall 6. pet friendly AND they have a cat in the leasing office :) cons- 1.Depending on what building, parking can be a little bit of a hassle. there's no assigned parking and sometimes it means that you'll have to park in the auxiliary lot. 2. some of the residents are LOUD. I mean like blaring music at 4am and having arguments in the parking lot loud. 3. I have a renovated unit and there is some damage from poor installation. (overall though it's minor and it has been documented) 4. no laundry in unit BUT laundry is in the building. there are only 4 washers and dryers though. and they can get full quickly some things to be aware of (and if things change i will update this review)- 1. I have not had a single bug in my apartment. according to other reviews, some people have had issues with bugs or mice in their apartment. I personally have not experienced this. 2. Be aware that the windows and sliding glass door let a lot of heat/cold/sound in. I winterized my sliding glass door and that seemed to help with the heat escaping. 3. the leasing office is fairly responsive to emails. I haven't had to call for anything, I've been able to reach them via email during business hours. they have also been pleasant to deal with, I'm not sure if the other reviews are referencing the same management team One last thing! this apartment complex shares the parking lot with another condo complex. I think that's why a lot of the reviews are mixed. this review is specifically for Cove West Apartments NOT Westwood apartments (or whatever the condo complex is called). overall I would recommend this apartment as a STARTER apartment. the price is fair for the square footage and location. hopefully this helps!
I've lived here for a year and half. They only have one maintenance worker who takes care of four buildings and his work is luke warm at best. The grounds and buildings are maintained poorly; the water is constantly shut off without notice. The office staff is unprofessional and very rude. If you submit a complaint they are quick to say that you are harassing them and will call the police on you. Convenient location but not worth the issues they have to live here.
The rent is cheap for a reason..The walls are so paper thin, the ceilings are barely there that you can hear every step of your neighbors, every sneeze and conversation. The management never does anything about the constant noise. Fake promises..they never built a gym like they promised, the balconies were supposed to be fixed after a year but now you can’t even go on them, the club house isn’t even open for residents. And good luck finding a spot at night! The laundry machines are constantly flooded with water and the elevators are so outdated you can barely use them. Hot water turns off after a few minutes, try having only 5 minutes to shower before it gets cold. It’s overall an unpleasant living experience here at Cove. Live here if you want cheap rent and pretty appliances but after a while, you’ll want to run for the hills too.
So many reasons. There is NO security whatsoever for a property this big and crime rate going up the area. Cars are being vandalized and stolen every night and the cameras either don't work or don't cover the parking lots. The office had made it clear that they are not prioritizing the residents safety at all by refusing to install proper surveillance or hire security guard for the empty security booth. Our porches have now been banned from use by blocking our doors only being able to open 6 inches for air. They charge extra for apartments with porches and won't reduce the rent for that even though it will likely be At LEAST aa year before porches are restored. There are rats, mice, roaches and bedbugs in EVERY building on the property. Water leaks and shut offs are regular. And on too of it all, they have the NERVE to consistently raise the rent. The ONLY good things are that the apartments are spacious and the location is convenient. I have been here 6 years and never seen this bad
Nice community , very nice apartments giving you the cozy at home experience. Staff are very friendly and helpful
Cove apartments has a bad rep for a few reasons. There are condos owned by other associations within the complex that are not newly refurbished and they do not have access to the brand new club house. The parking lot is noisy at times in the morning/night and garbage maintenance can be an issue sometimes with squirrels and mice getting into it - although the mice seem to have disappeared recently! Like any first, second, or third apartment, there are some bugs. No shocker there but you squish them and move on with your life while saving hundreds of dollars compared to other apartments in the area. My biggest issue is the pigeons that leave droppings all over the deck, rendering it almost useless. The reason I live at cove and chose to continue living here through the epidemic is the location, appliances, renovated apartment and the price. Just seconds from I-84 and minutes from the west Hartford center and downtown Hartford make this location key. Want a midnight snack? Golroc diner and fast food joints are a brisk walk away. Plenty of neighborhoods to walk around and a park right next door make this location even more attractive. The appliances are top of the line with a new stove, dishwasher, fridge, faucet fixtures and a mirror that glows...literally! The Newley renovated hardwood floors and carpeting add a lot of value along with the beautiful granite counter tops and spacious cabinets. There is no lack of closet space here with 2 in the master bedroom and an extra in the second bedroom. At a price point you can’t beat, this is the perfect place for young couples who are starting up, or an individual looking for a nice place to save up money. No apartment is perfect, but your home is what you make it!
Infested with cockroaches and mice. There is always some idiots screaming and fighting for hours at night, until the police are called. Would not recommend this property to anyone.
I went to see the apartment in person and it was so beautiful in person. the kitchen was so nice and had a lot of shape. the bathroom was nice as well.
my family and I went today to take a look at the renovated apartments and they look just like the pictures maybe even better. I really love everything I say in the apartment we looked at and it was very spacious.
