The Crescent is a great place to live. The location cannot be beat. The management and maintenance team are conscientious, contributing to my overall positive experience.

Wow - we're delighted you had such a fantastic experience! Thanks again for taking some time to about your visit to Crescent. Be well!
The location is great, but that’s pretty much the only good thing about these apartments. They are very overpriced for the quality. The amenities are basically nonexistent and the appliances in the apartment keep breaking or having issues.

These apartments are so overpriced! They claim that they’re luxury, but things break so easily! I’ve only lived here for 7 months, and I’ve already had about 10 maintenance visits due to things breaking. There are also a ton of fees that just make this place not worth it at all. Please don’t waste your time.

The maintenance guy is great. The office staff is incompetent and the noise is unbearable. This place is so gross. I’ve been eaten with bugs and the office staff is so unresponsive. I cannot wait to get out of here. Stay far away from this place.

The towing company used by this apartment building incorrectly tows cars. I pay to park in my building and they towed my car. It's AA Wrecker and they are terrible. Then I have to spend money on ubers to get to work and go get my car back. And there seems to be nothing I can do.

DO NOT LIVE HERE! Wanna pay for your parking and pay to get your car out of the tow yard? Want your stuff stolen and car broken into? Want this place to take even more money from you on a bullshit moveout statement? WANT TO JUST THROW YOUR MONEY IN THE TRASH AND GET RIPPED OFF? DONT LIVE HERE AT AT COSTS. MAY THE LORD HAVE MERCY ON THIS PLACES SOUL AND THEIR LACK OF INTEGRITY!!! Amen

This morning a very important car part was stolen from my bf’s car and Sarah (the manager) is still having issues with getting the cameras repaired so,no footage was taken. We had another break in w/ my other roommate almost a year ago & she gave the same excuse. There’s trash in the hallways and overflowing downstairs by the entrance. The whole complex smells like a sewer.

The Crescent Apartments is not a safe place to live! Do not live here! My car was stolen and when I requested to take a look at the security cameras, management's response was "the cameras have not been working for some time now we are working with vendors to get new ones". There was no care about my property in this complex. Management does not want to make any concessions about my stolen property and is doing nothing to help. There is no security at the Crescent apartments like advertised. Do not live here, you can get better living for the price somewhere else.

The previous maintenance person, Jesse, was clearly holding this place together. After he left in April, this place has rapidly become a dump. I put in a service order to have the pool cleaned in May (something Jesse always did and no one ever took that part over). It is now end of June, no one has changed the pool, and the water is disgusting. The laundry room is also declining at a rapid rate. I feel gross being in there, and yet it's the only really way to wash your clothes without going to a laundromat, because the machines in the units are small trash cans. The walls are paper thin, so you'll hear everything, including when the construction people talk about tenants. When the halls are infested with flies, so will your apt, and there will be nothing done to the halls to clean them. Look up previous videos and pictures of the place: a video of a rat chilling, a picture of the sign the city put up to shut the pool down, all within the last 2 or 3 years. Location is nice though.

Moving to this apartment complex was the best decision I have made. The on-site team helped me coordinate my cross-country application process after I had decided to move to Austin from NYC, sign the lease, and the day I arrived, made moving in not only easy, but pleasant. Coming from a leasing management position, I can appreciate how difficult it can be to have all the details and documents in order, so I want to congratulate this team for making this a truly flawless transition.

Thanks for taking the time to say such nice things about our team. Let us know if you need anything. We're always happy to help! Have a wonderful day!
If I could give this place zero stars I would! They say these are “luxury” apartments, it is a crime to say that! This apartment complex is disgusting! Pigeons poop all over the pool area making it unsafe to swim. The garbage is constantly overflowing in the trash areas. Homeless people do their laundry in the laundry room. The gate to the garage never works ! My car has been BROKEN into 3 times!!! Thousands of dollars worth of damage ... and management replies with we are sorry. Multiple peoples cars have been broken into and management does not care!
My boyfriend has lived at the Crescent for 2 years, and I recently moved into a two bedroom there with him this week. I can say that the location is amazing - we walk to Rainey, SoCo, Auditorium Shores, 6th street, etc all the time. Being right by the riverwalk is also awesome. We have a dog, and the back fenced-in dog area is huge and perfect for him. I would also say that the apartments themselves are pretty nice - the two bedroom we just moved into is HUGE and has tons of storage. The concrete floors are kind of gross but that's really my only complaint about the apartment itself. Now the building...Management has been extremely nice and accommodating - I don't have any complaints about them. But the building itself leaves a lot to be desired. It needs a thorough power-washing - the entire thing. Main areas, stairwells, parking garage, etc are very dirty. At one point I actually took a broom and dustpan myself to sweep one of the stairwells because the amount of dirt, trash and dog hair that was piling up was becoming too much to deal with on a daily basis. All that being said, it is cheaper and the apartments are bigger than a lot of the other buildings nearby (I know because we just looked), so you kind of take the good with the bad. We've also met a ton of nice people here - I would not say it has a party/adult dorm vibe at all. I rarely even see people in the pool in the summer to be honest.
I've lived at the Crescent for three years and overall it's a decent place to live. Here are the pro's and con's: Pro's: Great location - walk-ability to a number of fast causal restaurants and Thom's Market, as well as South Congress, town lake, and downtown. It takes under 10 minutes to walk to some of Austin's greatest places. Decent pricing - a bit lower than surrounding buildings Spacious floorplan options - I live in one of the bigger units on the top floor and there's a loft space which works great as a second bedroom for guests and/or an office Great downtown views - nice rooftop Friendly and responsive staff Great outdoor pet areas Plenty of parking Safe - I've heard of instances with car break-ins but I think that will happen most places in a downtown area that's not staffed 24/7. Never personally had any issues. Con's Property isn't maintained very well. It's common to see trash and cigarette buds everywhere, the floors are constantly dirty, spider webs everywhere, etc. both inside and outside. It seems they are under staffed from a maintenance perspective because their staff is always around and working but they don't keep up with all of the needs of the building. Old building - though rent keeps going up, the building is getting older and you can tell. When it rains it's common to see flooding, parts of the roof are deteriorating, etc. Free onsite laundry room is great in concept but most of the machines are always broken and/or covered in mold. Pool is located in the center of the building and right next to the pet area so you can rarely get sun and it smells At first glance, the units are updated and have stainless steal appliances but once you live in you'll find a lot of the finishes and appliances are actually cheap. Parking garage isn't wide enough, it can very hard to get in and out. Recent building paint job - tacky bright colors everywhere and painted moons. Some nice clean, neutral colors could have really elevated the space but instead it feels like a college dorm.
Having traveled the world for the last two years I’ve seen many things and have a very specific standard when it comes to settling down. This complex truly makes me feel at home. Gives me all the stimulation I need with great amenities, amazing location and great staff.
This is a great building, filled with very well kitted out and functioning apartments. The location is amazing, next to the trail and within 15 mins walk from both South Congress and Downtown. The facilities are well maintained, nice pool, roof garden and gym and the management are extremely helpful and attentive. I would fully recommend!
The Crescent is truly in a great location - convenient walk to Soco district, downtown and Zilker park. The price really can't be beat and is an awesome value. Parking is never an issue, laundry facilities are well maintained and the rooftop view is an added bonus. Front office staff and maintenance are very friendly and respond in a timely manner. I would recommend this apartment to anyone moving to or hoping to relocate in Austin!
Living here has not just been an all around negative experience, but I have felt consistently that my health and safety were at risk. My primary complaint is how they have dealt with a rat infestation, but I have had numerous other issues as well. I have been complaining about rats for 6 months -- they make a ton of noise in the air conditioning vents and regularly keep me from being able to sleep at night. Rat poop is falling out of the vents, strange mildew and stains are seeping out of the vents, and there's a really horrible smell outside of and in my apartment -- I'm sure from a rotting rat carcass. I began complaining about this in January but saw nothing done. After there was a fire sprinkler leak in the ceiling, the maintenance staff cut a hole in my ceiling and leaving it unrepaired for several days (after I asked them to contact me before cutting the hole and to follow up on plans to fix it -- which they failed to do), finally allowing the rats into my apartment. I came home from vacation to a rat drowned in my toilet, rat poop everywhere, and more rats on the loose in my apartment. I came home from work to a rat, a very big rat, stuck in a trap (set without my knowledge), screeching, on my bathroom floor. The maintenance staff left a list of rat related complaints in my apartment (again without me being notified they had been in there) -- so I know it's not an isolated incident, but affecting numerous other residents. When I have talked to staff about the situation, I've only gotten excuses. It took me crying in the leasing office to get any action beyond "they'll add it to the weekly pest control visit". They also charge for parking, despite the parking spots being too small to park in without inducing panic attacks. On "security" -- there has been a door that has remained unlocked for about a year now. I found a homeless man living in that stairwell several times and finally had to call the police. The only real good things I can say about this building is that the location is nice and the rooftop has a nice view. There is rat poop raining from my ceilings, my apartment smells like a dead animal, I can't sleep at night. Would not recommend.
We moved in from out of town without seeing it mostly because it's a great price for the location. The units are great, awesome kitchen, spacious bathroom and closet. There were quite a few things that needed fixing, and all got fixed within a few days. There is always someone available in the office which is helpful. Parking is pretty ample so we can always get a spot on our floor. The roof is a huge plus and the view is incredible. We were quite disappointed with the bike storage. It's just a rack in the garage with some very old and ransacked bikes hanging off. Cleaning up the old bikes and putting up a gate would make a huge difference.
Living here for one year was an ongoing nightmare. First and foremost, the building floods during hard rainstorms. My apartment flooded more than 10 times in one year and was never effectively repaired. Some of these floods were severe, causing property damage including a destroyed laptop (side tip: make sure you have thorough renter's insurance coverage - my laptop wasn't covered and the Crescent was no help). The Crescent is managed by the Connor Group, a national property management company, although not as big as some of the other management companies that are big in Texas (Gables, AMLI, Graystar, etc.). So, you get all of the headaches of a national property manager and none of the benefits. The building staff is turning over constantly. There were three different property managers during the year I lived there and similar turnover among the leasing office and maintenance staff. The staff was typically very nice, but often new to the building and given very little authority or resources from the company to deal with onsite problems. The Connor Group relies on contractors for maintenance and repairs beyond the most routine issues, but no one is responsible for supervising those contractors' work. The same contractor came to my apartment 10 times to "fix" the flooding problem and every time it rained hard, my apartment flooded again. No one onsite had authority to seek other repair options and no one in the company management cared that the repairs were totally ineffective. There was one excellent onsite maintenance person, Patrick, at the time that I left. But one excellent maintenance person can't fix the structural problems with this building. Because the onsite staff has no authority to deal with bigger problems, I got stuck in the purgatory of the Connor Group's middle management. I waited weeks for a regional manager to call me back about the ongoing flooding problem, only to be told that I couldn't be transferred to a different unit unless I paid a lot more in rent. I couldn't even be moved to a smaller apartment without paying more. The flooding problem may be limited to units that face Riverside Drive, as mine did, but this horrible management is not. After my apartment flooded the first time, I found out that it had flooded before with the previous tenant! It flooded twice more during heavy rain in the week I moved out, and I can only imagine that now there is another tenant in there living this nightmare.
I've read other reviews that this apt complex is nothing more than adult dorms. I agree. The location is great, but I won't be staying here. The complex permits dogs, lots of dogs, large dogs. They roam, without leashes, around the halls, around the pool, IN the pool... Owners do not clean up after their dogs. The building is only about 6 years old. I have had to request HVAC repairs nearly every month I have been here, sometimes multiple times a month. My electric bill is as much as my former house that was 3x the size. Late night loud parties and people running screaming down hallways at all hours is not uncommon. Office staff are friendly and generally helpful. The elevator always smells like wet dog. The in apt washer/dryers are these European wastes of money; 30 minutes to wash and 4 hours to dry to a smelly damp. The Complex has recently installed community washer/dryers which is helpful. The parking spaces in the parking garage are very narrow so don't expect your car to last long unscathed. Even parked properly you can barely fit to get in and out of your car when a vehicle is parked next to you. It's quite irritating. There are extra monthly charges for parking in the parking garage, for trash, for elec in common areas, and I can't remember what else. Count on close to an extra $100 a month for just water, trash and common elec charges. Yea, I'll be leaving at the end of my lease. There are nicer properties for less $ over on S Lamar.
