Referred to by its residents as “Ypsi,” Downtown Ypsilanti, Michigan is a progressive city with a great community to back it up. The downtown area is separated into three distinct districts: Downtown, Depot Town, and W. Cross/Campus Town. It’s historically this way and has stayed so to preserve the beauty of the historical districts and the cultural variety. Downtown Ypsilanti’s residents pride themselves in the cultural abundances of art, music, and shopping.
Once you’re a renter in Downtown Ypsilanti, find time to visit the non-profit Dreamland Theater for local Puppet Theater or the Michigan Firehouse Museum, the town’s preservation of firefighting history. Order a cold beer at Ypsi’s Alehouse, or maybe taste a freshly baked scone from Terry Bakery. And be sure to tune into AM 1700 for Downtown Ypsilanti’s best community radio station. You’ll never miss a beat of downtown living with all of the wonderful attractions Ypsilanti holds.

Property Ratings at Cross Street Village
They don’t tell you that this is living for ages 55 and up. On the about info, it says “active adults.”
Cross St Village has been my home for eight years. I am extremely happy to live here and plan on living here for years to come. The building is full of history and many happy memories. I enjoy the outside patio and beautiful flowers and herb gardens. My apartment is full of natural light and is well maintained. I feel very safe and cozy here. This is a great place to live. Come for a visit you will enjoy it.
Cross Street Village use to be a nice affordable place to live for those 55 and older. Rent was determined by your income and apartment size. Now the rent is hugely increasing to market value with no consideration to the residents income. You either pay the price or move out. Simple for the owner, not so simple for those who live on a fixed income and no longer can afford to call their apartment home. I get a few dollars of rent increases, but $50.00, $100.00, even $200.00 a month....outrageous!!!! Greed is all I can , the apartments aren't maintained, the windows are a fire hazard(will only open maybe 4-6 " if you can even get them opened. The entry way is a trip hazard, and every body and there brother has the code to get into the building. Secure.....Not!! All I can say if you want to live at Cross Street Village, you better bring lots of money and your own tools.
Property Manager at Cross Street Village, Responded To This Review
Thank you for your comments, we are sorry to hear you are upset. We became a luxury market rate apartment community in September 2017, which does mean that our rents are no longer based on income. Our average rental increase over the past year have been $38.00 per month. We are not bringing residents to the market rents for three years to give our residents time to prepare and plan. We manage affordable communities in the area that can accommodate residents on a fixed income. We are a historic building and there are guidelines as to what we can replace however, we are happy to repair any window that needs it. Please contact the office and we can schedule your repair. We have put a new intercom system on the building and only residents have access, no other codes have been given out. Our maintenance supervisor has been at the community for 17 years and he takes wonderful care of all of the residents and the apartment homes. We would love an opportunity to talk with you and address your concerns, please feel free to contact the office at your convenience. Thank you.
