The downtown heart of Escondido, Central Escondido, is an artistic blend of historic and new. It’s the location of the city’s oldest park, Grape Day Park, and the California Center for the Arts, Escondido. The brick-paved sidewalks that line Grand Avenue run past a variety of boutiques, gift shops, and bakeries. Maple Street Plaza, located off Grand Avenue, is an esplanade that hosts events. Other great destinations in Central Escondido include the San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum and the Escondido History Center, which features a historic Victorian farmhouse complete with weathervane.
Central Escondido extends from Centre City Parkway east to North Juniper Street. You’ll discover ample apartment communities in the neighborhood, along with several bus stops for car-free commutes. The Escondido Transit Center includes the Sprinter light rail as well as bus service for those traveling to nearby cities, including Oceanside, Encinitas, and Carlsbad.

Property Ratings at Crosscreek
The apartments were super clean when boyfriend and I went to tour and the property was well maintained. The staff was so kind and property management Robin was very helpful and answered all our questions!! Overall, beautiful property & only good experiences.
When we first moved in there was guest parking available, after a few months they added "reserved" spots for $30 extra a month and painted over what used to be guest parking. And CONTINUED to add to these reserved spots. About half the parking is now "reserved". Good luck finding a spot if you have a second car after 4pm and any at all weekend afternoons. You'll have to park next to the sketchy looking "crazy charlies" car wash down the street. I've seen other reviews on here say they're clearly only interested in taking your money, and I'd say that's absolutely true. They're hard to get a hold of at the office, they've closed sooner than they're supposed to, regularly. At times 30-60 mins before their posted time. Worst complex we've lived in with poor management. So much more to add but We're happy to move out soon.
I feel that apartments.com should not be able to list these apartments due to the fact that a employee of apartments.com lives here. I see their apartments.com car parked here constantly. I've taken multiple pictures of their company car parked at the complex day after day and overnight for 5 months now. That being said, I'll give you an honest opinion. Crosscreek is well maintained, there used to be a huge problem with homeless people raiding the dumpsters and cars of the people that lived here. Cathy and Robin "the office managers" have worked very hard to improve the quality of life here at crosscreek. When my family first moved in we had some complaints about everything mentioned above. The staff here at crosscreek responded to everything accordingly. No not every single wish of ours of was granted, like replacing the original AC unit so our power bill wouldn't be as high. BUT!!!! they always responded to any issue that would affect your family's quality of life. I also don't agree with the way they have structured their parking, all non covered parking used to be free, now most of it is paid parking. I understand why they had to make the change but I don't agree with it. My family has lived here for 3 years now and would continue to do so if we could. The only reason we are leaving is because my new job is just to far away.
Re-signed a lease on the explicit understanding that my unit was acceptable for satellite installation (which I need for work), then after I signed, was told my unit was, in fact, in the wrong location, and the apartment would not allow any of the many technical workarounds that would have made installation possible.
I guess it would be an ok place to live if you could get management and/or maintenance to actually do anything about the widespread sorry condition of anything/everything. Earlier in the year 2 of our windows wouldn't go up. Maintenance came over took one look at them and told us it was "a safety feature"... actually they had painted the windows shut. Gas furnace has metal parts LOUDLY rubbing together... that's ok, we know it's a fire hazard, but we'll use zip ties to fix it for you. What's that? When will we properly fix it..? How about never... Both bath tubs in the unit will not hold water... There are no screens on two of the windows.. hope we don't plan on opening them... ever. We've called the office 3 times. The first time we were advised that they would be fixed in late March/early April... well it's mid May now and nothing has been done. There's a giant rip in the flooring in the kitchen... they of course said they would fix it... haven't yet. This place is a joke. The only thing they are interested in is taking your rent check each month.
The Location is perfect for a walk to the store. Right across the street is a Pharmacy, Coffee Shop, UPS Store, Frozen Yogurt and Vons. I am 5 minutes to the 15 south for my commute to La Jolla for work. The renovated apartment is very nice with all the upgrades and I love living on the greenbelt at the back of the property.
Ive been living here for 4 months now. Its really not good to be honest. I didnt have a parking spot for 3 months due to "renovations" to the car park. After 2 weeks of moving in I wake up to a huge sticker on the windshield of my car telling me if i did not move for renovations I will be towed. I had to scrape the 4 x 6 sticker off with a Razor... Even though the carports were really only worked on for about a week. I've had my water shut off TWICE already since ive been here, with less than a weeks notice. And im talking shut off for an entire day, like 10 hours. Just now I started to take a shower and the water goes out, So i call the front office and the lady tells me "oh yeah he just shut the water off for a few minutes it will be back on in 15-20.." wow really lady? These are awful awful apartments. I would not recommend. The only redeeming thing is the location.
