Property Ratings at Crowne Park
Their online application system is a mess and forces you to fill out irrelevant information in order to submit it. Had to contact them after the application was submitted in order to add an applicant and they informed me that the “new application fee” was suddenly more than the one I paid hours before. It took them two weeks to process the application before they denied it (of course, after already accepting the deposit) and they wouldn’t provide any reason for denial. I make enough income, I have a good credit score, my rental history is clear, and I’ve never had any issues renting from a number of places across the country. The only response I’ve gotten about the reason my application was denied is that it’s an “uncommon situation” which tells me NOTHING. If it’s such a weird situation, why can’t I be informed of the reason so I can fix it for future situations? Seems like an excuse. I’d be careful when applying here, as they are not responsive and change their fees around as they see fit. I’m happy to find a place that doesn’t engage in shady and unclear practices, so I’m considering this loss a dodged bullet.

Thank you so much for your comment! We are delighted to hear that you and your family are enjoying living at Crowne Park Apartments! We hope you stay for many more years to come. Sincerely, Crowne Professional Management
I lived here for two years and maintenance and management were always very responsive and effective. I had no complaints during my time living at Crowne Park for any reason. However, when I left, Crowne Park created unreasonable and exaggerated charges to my account (ie unclean bathtub, stains on walls, etc.) when I had thoroughly cleaned my apartment before I left. Thus, they did not return my security deposit. Do not expect to get your security deposit back; it is more akin to a fee.
I absolutely loved living here, and I am very sad to leave. I lived here all three years I attended law school and never had any major problems. The maintenance team is very helpful, courteous, and professional. They are willing to help in any way they can. The women in the leasing office have always been very helpful, and very nice. The only issue I had was a notice issue. There was a letter left on my door for a missed rent payment, and when I called I was told that they had notified me three times. This was not the case. The letter was my first notification. I had my payments set up automatically through Wells Fargo Online Bill Pay, so I never knew that the office did not receive my payment. This occurred a couple of other times (still don't know what happened as Wells Fargo claims they did everything they were supposed to on their end and the leasing office claims they just weren't receiving the payments), but every time it happened after, the leasing office was great at keeping an eye out for my rent payment and notifying me if the payment did not arrive when it was supposed to or ever, so that I could take the appropriate steps. Let's see, what else? I did not have any serious pest problems, experience weird smells, etc. The appliances were in perfect working order. The walls were a little thin. If my neighbor's tv was too loud beside me or below me I could definitely hear it. It was only really bothersome at night when it was otherwise super quiet. Also, I do not know what my neighbor was doing above me, but sometimes it simply sounded like he had a bowling alley up there. It could have been his dog, maybe he had hardwood floors? I don't know, but it really annoyed me. Every morning I would wake up to what sounded like he was bowling or building something. Something that would have been nice: Lights in the closets. I started out with touch lights I purchased from Target, but they were not sufficient for me. If you go to Wake Forest or work at Wake Forest, this is a great place to live in terms of proximity. Additionally, the population is a mix of graduate students, families and professionals. OVERALL: Great place to live, I would live here again. Affordable, convenient, quiet, serene. I wish I did not have to leave, if I could take this place with me out of state, I would. Bonus--there is a nature trail that goes in two separate directions. It's nice for a quick run/walk/bike ride/hike. I enjoyed it. 4.75 stars.
