Finding an apartment for rent in Hilliard, Ohio is one of those things you can look forward to. A quaint town, with just over 30,000 people calling it home, it is the ideal place to raise a family, go to school, or just spend time relaxing. It is the largest suburb of Columbus, Ohio, the state's capital city. And, with that proximity (and ease of drive into the heart of Columbus) Hilliard is one of the best places to call home. Finding an apartment here is rather easy to do, and you'll have your pick of a variety of styles, ages, and communities. Yet, Hilliard has much more to offer than just a residential area. It's popular with just about all age groups and is rather affordable compared to living in the heart of Columbus.
What's interesting about this city is its passion for sports. You can look to Columbus, Cincinnati, or even Cleveland to the north for the professional football, baseball, and basketball teams, though. Here, in Hilliard, it is all about the local sports teams.

Property Ratings at Crystal Lake
They say they have zero tolerance for smoking within 25 feet of buildings but no one listens. My neighbor smokes on the balcony. I tried reporting but they did nothing. Buildings are shabby, maintenance repairs are cobbled together. You get what you pay for. There’s a reason they’re the cheapest in town.
Greg and the maintenance team are amazing. They care about their residents and make you feel important and heard. I lived here as a transition between moving across country and finding my permanent home - They were extremely accommodating and helpful with anything and everything. Location was perfect.

Hi Krista, Thank you for the amazing review! We are glad we could make your transition an enjoyable one!
I have lived here for just over a year and am transferring from a 2 bedroom garden apartment to a townhouse. Greg in the office is a superb property manager. He always makes time to talk about and address any concerns I have and has made the transfer process very smooth. The maintenance team is also excellent. All issues are addressed promptly and completely. I don't see myself leaving here any time soon.

Hello Christopher. We appreciate your positive review! Our team strives to deliver an excellent experience, and we are glad you find this to be the case. Congratulations on transferring into a townhouse. We hope you love your new home just as much as your first one! If you have any further needs or questions, please reach out.
I rented a 2-bedroom apartment with 2 others for 1.5 years with no complaints. The unit was up-to-date and had plenty of space. We only had to call maintenance once and they were quick to respond. Property is well-kept and I enjoyed having a balcony next to the lake. The neighborhood is quiet and the general area of Hilliard was a nice change after living in Central Columbus. The staff and front office were easily the friendliest I've rented from, and were extremely accommodating. If I ever moved back to Columbus, I would certainly consider renting again.

Thank you for taking the time to write your awesome review Conner. We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed living with us and that our staff provided you with great service. Have a good day!
After having been a home owner for over 40+ years, then having to temporarily (5 years), move into an apartment community until I found another home, I was initially concerned about "apartment living". Greg and his staff at Crystal Lake made the transition to apartment living as comfortable as possible. Always professional and with a level of tenant commitment I appreciated. Most times I forgot I was residing at an apartment community. I strongly recommend Crystal Lake to any apartment hunter. Margie W.

Hello Margie! We are excited to hear that you enjoyed your time at Crystal Lakes and appreciate the great review. Thank you for taking the time to write about us and for being such a great resident for all of those years! I hope you are doing well!
I've lived here for 7yrs Great schools Good pricing Nice community Nice buildings Current office (Greg) and maintenance (George) are the best I've ever had. And a huge part of why I've stayed here. They will always get issues fixed, and check in to make sure we are satisfied with the solution. They always listen to my concerns and handle them appropriately. And if you need an ear, I can tell you they are great to chat with as well. (There is another office person, but since Covid limits a lot of interactions I haven't had the chance to get to know her as well yet. But she is pleasant to talk to) Covid has created a few challenges, but staff has been amazing here and found ways to try and keep our little community going. Working with people, keeping up little games like Bingo, decorating contests, even opening the pool last summer (a huge hit because a lot of pools where closed) I have recommended this place to friends and will continue to do so. There will always be a naysayer and a complainer posting reviews. Come talk at the office, see how awesome they are and how nice our community is for yourself.

Thank you for the 5 star review, Kate! We strive for 100% satisfaction and it is great to hear that you have had such a pleasant experience living at Crystal Lakes for all of these years. We value you as our resident!
You have to bug these folks to get things worked on, almost to the point of getting mad, or else they'll just ignore you. They're riding a wave or greater prosperity nearby and raising their rents alongside the newer, fancier apartments, but not actually improving theirs - at least not while they've got you renting from them. The turnover among their staff is high, and every time new folks come in they want to wipe the slate clean from whatever happened in the past. There's no accountability for their failures, but you're expected to dot every i. They never cut you a break or reimburse you for their sometimes massive failures. You pay them - full stop. If you want made whole by them - sue them. It's the only way. Document every interaction you have with them from day one.

My wife and I have been living at Crystal Lake for over a year and a half now. We are renting a two bedroom and two bathroom apartments. The location is great and these are the cheapest apartments in the area. The apartments are spacious with walk-in closets in both bedrooms. There is a nice view of the pond from the balcony. The staff has been fairly good about maintenance requests. Most requests are fulfilled within a day or two. There is no reserved parking, but finding parking near my building has not been a problem for the most part. As for negatives, no utilities are covered in the rent. Not even trash and sewer. Expect to pay $150-$200 per month over your rent. The buildings look a bit old on the outside because of the wood frame staircases and balconies. And the biggest annoyance for me is that in the non-winter months there are a lot of bugs and insects outside due to the pond, specially at night. If you're not careful at night, giant moths and beetles and other bugs might get in if you keep your door open too long. But I don't know that the apartment management can do anything about that really. Overall these are good apartments for the value in a nice area.
