Stretched along the Mississippi River, Saint Louis is the second most populous city in Missouri. Regarded as the Gateway to the West, Saint Louis was the starting point of Lewis and Clark’s infamous expedition. Saint Louis’ most iconic landmark, the Gateway Arch, is a memorial celebrating the nation’s westward expansion.
In addition to its rich history, Saint Louis offers residents access to exceptional amenities and culture. An apartment in Saint Louis affords you the opportunity to climb sculptures composed of reclaimed building materials at the one-of-a-kind City Museum, or watch the Cardinals play ball at Busch Stadium.
Hit the town and catch a performance at the Fabulous Fox, or indulge in some retail therapy at the massive Saint Louis Outlet Mall. There’s incredible architecture to admire in the Washington Avenue Historic District, or you could experience the flora and fauna on display at the Saint Louis Zoo and Missouri Botanical Garden.

Property Ratings at CWE
Where to begin….the paint is peeling, the elevator is always broken, and the freight elevator is extremely old, creaky, and sometimes fails. The parking gate was broken at one point and that lead to cars being broken into in the parking lot. Poorly maintained property, very overpriced.
It's not all roses at Chesterfield Apartments. First of all, the rental agent is rude and forgetful. Make sure you have all the evidence in an email. Both in person and by email, my daughter has been yelled at. The apartment wasn't move-in ready.
Everything is not picture-perfect when it comes to Chesterfield Apartments. First of all, the rental agent is a terrible communicator. My daughter moved there to start school. The apartment wasn't ready for her when she first moved in. It was disgusting! As I walked around the apartment, I noticed that it was not right. It looked as if the apartment had been neglected for a long time. There was urine on the toilet seat, and the refrigerator and stove were nasty. The bathroom was horrible. The bedroom carpet was not pulled up. The carpet wasn't clean. No one should live like this! As for the rental agent, she is very rude and forgetful when it comes to having a conversation. Make sure you have everything in an email to support your claim. My daughter has been yelled at numerous times in person and by email. She has been extremely frustrated because what should be a peaceful home has become a nightmare. In the manner in which this rental agent treats people, any parent would be outraged.
The elevator has been out of service for the majority of 2022. Several people have gotten stuck in it throughout the year. One time the freight elevator caught fire twice in one weekend. Sometimes BOTH elevators are down, essentially stranding residents who aren't able to use the stairs. The parking lot gate was broken for months, and during that time one car was stolen and at least five broken into. The recent chaos is that people are somehow waltzing into the building and stealing packages out of the mail room. How??? Management is doing nothing to address these issues, other than apologizing "for the inconvenience." It's been like this all year.
When Village Green had been taken over by Sansone, I met with the new manager who informed me there would be no rent increases and she would work with me on the last year of my lease as I was graduating and would require a shorter lease. Less than one month prior to when my lease renewal was due, I was told there was substantial rent increase along with fees for a lease shorter than 12 months. I feel the imposing a fee on short term leases specifically targets students to paying more. I have to pay an additional amount per every month less than 12 months. The management team was not transparent about this and I wish they would have told me earlier to allow me to have time to look at other places to live. I am also really disappointed with the current manager, Evette, as when I went to her with my issue, she didn't seem to care and would not give me the contact information to higher management. I'm really disappointed as it doesn't seem that she wants to advocate for her residents or think that caring about others is part of the job of managing these buildings. I also agree with the previous review about electric bills. My bills have ranged from $35-$215, with the higher numbers, being in either the summer or winter. Overall, I think the management team could be transparent with their policies and more open about the types of bills and fees residents have to pay prior to getting them to sign the lease as this did not happen for me.
The apartments are very cute and the neighborhood is great, but the buildings are very old and haven’t been updated. As a result, the HVAC systems are inefficient and cost a small fortune to run if you are lucky enough to get yours working. My apartment can’t get over 63 degrees if it drops below 40 degrees outside, so the management company’s solution is to have you run your heat at 70 nonstop in hopes it will eventually reach a comfortable temperature. This results in bills running $100-$200 a month for a 600 square ft apartment. The sister building has apartments with electric bills of $300 a month!! On the surface, this seems like a great deal but be prepared to pay big bucks for electricity and a poorly heated/cooled apartment.
I lived at the Chesterfield for a year and had an excellent experience. My unit was great, maintenance was efficient, all the staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely rent here again, I only moved to be closer to work. It's a great price for the area, too!
This building gives the perfect blend of modern living and the historic charm that is Saint Louis and the Central West End area. A historically beautiful building that has been very well maintained and even includes a leash free dog park, swimming pool, fitness center, picnic area, free Wi-Fi and an entertainment room. On top of that, it is so close to Forest Park, The Saint Louis Zoo, The Science Center, Downtown Saint Louis, The Delmar Loop and Maryland Plaza. Simply put, it's everything you need out of an apartment.
