Largely due to its relative isolation from other major metropolitan areas, Sioux Falls has developed thriving local culture with robust shopping, dining, and entertainment scenes, delivering homegrown cultural resources that would be the envy of any city its size. The local rental market offers a diverse range of options -- the historic homes and apartment buildings of the City Center are popular among young professionals seeking to participate in the thriving downtown community, while the quiet suburban environment of the Shindler neighborhood tends to attract folks seeking a tranquil home life. No matter where they live, all residents enjoy the benefits of an exceptionally low crime rate, which sits at roughly half the national average.

Property Ratings at Dakota Pointe
I lived at Dakota Pointe for almost four years, and I must say, the experience went downhill when Cornerstone Residential bought out the place. They seemed to stop caring about the residents entirely. One of the most frustrating things was the lack of enforcement of policies in the apartment complex. People let their dogs defecate on the sidewalks and grass areas without consequence. The maintenance of the apartment also suffered greatly. The management started charging a "fee" for snow removal, but the actual snow removal efforts were minimal. Many residents complained that they couldn't even walk or get out of the apartment safely during snowy conditions. The hallways were consistently dirty, and it seemed like they were only cleaned once a year. There was a persistent smell of dog waste and marijuana in the building, making the living conditions unpleasant. To top it off, there were rumors circulating that the management was intentionally increasing rent to push people out of the apartment, with plans to increase it even more in the future. Furthermore, there was one incident where my wife lost her keys. I purchased a new set, and when she went to ask the manager for them, they hesitated and displayed a disrespectful attitude. Overall, Dakota Pointe, under Cornerstone Residential's management, was the greediest and most unethical apartment I've ever lived in. I would strongly advise against anyone staying in this apartment complex.
Right next to Costco’s employee parking. Uncomfortable with neighbors. Dirty elevator buttons. You may want to venture elsewhere if you value your “living room.” Want to be neighbors? Sure let’s mind our own business though ok?
After living in a house for 30 years, it was time to move on to an apartment. My friend recommended Dakota Pointe. I moved here April 2019 and I love this place. It is clean, spacious and has a great location. The staff are friendly and helpful. It has very nice facilities such as the pool, hot tub, fitness and community room. This maybe an apartment but for me - it feels like HOME.
Very convenient location and easy commute. Lots of amenities including pool/hot tub, fitness and theater rooms that are all super nice. Community area with large outdoor patio space and all new furniture . Love the in-unit washer and dryer. New appliances. Large bathrooms. Management is friendly and helpful and maintenance is done quickly on site and in a timely manner.
The hallways and doorways are bigger then normal making moving in or out easier, the pool and hot tub are nice to have to relive some stress and relax, management has been very nice and makes sure things get fixed quick, the location is great close to everything, lots of room, washer and dryer in the apartments make it easy to do laundry, the elevators are nice to have, inside garbage dumpsters make taking the trash out easy without going out in the snow, cold or rain
They are super nice and super efficient! We haven't had any problems with our neighbors, everyone has been super helpful and kind when we were first moving in. The pool is really nice and so is the gym area! We have loved this place since day one and especially as a new couple starting out this place has been a safe haven! I am so glad that we decided on this place and I think if you are looking for a good priced place this is definitely the right apartments to rent from!
YOU MUST BE BACK BY 5:30 OR YOU WILL BE TOWED. When I moved in underground parking was included, now they removed it, increased rent and the underground fee. Now NOBODY can afford to park underground and all the outdoor parking is gone by 5:30 or sooner. So no going out when you live here. We have called the new management co. but they will not call you back on any parking problem.
Property Manager at Dakota Pointe, Responded To This Review
Correct, parking has been an issue, however, we just added an additional 20 parking spaces and there will be more added once the exterior garages have been completed. The underground garage fee has always been the same. The rent prices were lowered when underground parking was no longer included with the rent. This made the apartment more affordable and still gave people the option to add underground parking if they wanted.
At first this place was great, but with so many dogs that are now here it sounds like a kennel. The smokers stand out side the doors or smoke in the parking garage. It has gone down hill fast.
Dakota Pointe is brand new and gorgeous!! The location is close to everything. The property manager Nancy is so nice and always available!! The Pool and gym is always clean.
Dakota Pointe Apartments are in the heart of Sioux Falls, SD. The location is ideal for people looking for a short commute to work, easy access to shopping, and proximity to the social settings in town. The apartment interior is modern, small, and well maintained. Even in the busiest part of town, noise is minimal. The view from the individual decks is poor as the apartments are in a commercial neighborhood. Other great aspects of the community include a pool, free parking, outdoor patio, and small recreation center. At this time, the residents are quiet and reserved. Demographics includes small families, young couples, and retired adults. Prices are high, but worth the laundry in each unit and cleanliness of the complex. All staff are helpful and prompt about responding to concerns.
Very new building. All new appliances. Washer and dryer in unit. Very quiet complex. Location is perfect right next to the interstate and center of Sioux Falls. Indoor pool and gym is very nice. Decks are great size for grills and patio furniture.
Clean, new apartment one of the few in town without animals. Has a pool that is open early and late not just while you're working. Has roomy community room, very large patio, guest room, open layout, nice appliances, and a nice sized deck on each room. Rent is very reasonable for what you get.
The location is perfect. The unit is amazing - I love the space! The only thing is that construction is still going on and so it's currently a bit dusty and noisy during day time. Otherwise, I have no complaints.
I moved in to a friendly and AWSOME facility.. It immediately felt like home..:) The manager and the maintenance answer all my questions immediately.... The building is clean, SAFE,friendly, convient to all my needs..I was especially impressed when I did my walk through that they made sure all was handicapped accessible... I am not handicapped but I think that this is a plus for the future tenants... Not all buildings have this or even consider this...the atmosphere here is a family one...even for the new tenants moving in, if someone needs help there is always a neighbor willing to do so...this is somewhere I plan to stay for awhile.. After owing a home for 22 years and now moving to an apartment I was apprehensive, this place put my mind at ease and I looked at several in the city....I have everything I need right here or within walking distance... I would recommend Dakota Pointe to anyone looking for a clean, safe, and HONEST building to move into...I am happy
