Property Ratings at Deer Crest Apartments
Deer crest has been a great community so far. The move in process was very smooth and our leasing agent was very helpful. We are happy with our Two bedroom apartment!

Hi Robert, Thank you for the great review! We appreciate all of the positive feedback and we couldn't be happier to know that your move-in went so smoothly. We are excited to welcome you and are here to help if there's anything you need. Thanks, again! - The Deer Crest Apartments Team
I love everything about living here with the exception of the people living above me!! They are constantly stomping, dropping and dragged something across the floor. At times it sounds like metal ball is rolling across the floor with a herd of elephants chasing after it. Every evening there is a very loud thump thump that sounds like a washer off balance above my head in the living room!! And they play loud music with a lot of boom, sometimes it sounds like an electric guitar and/ or drums? Possibly an electric keyboard , this goes on from as early as 6pm until well past midnight into the early morning hours

Hello Debora, We are sorry to hear that you're having some issues with the upstairs neighbors. We understand that noise can be a challenge in an apartment setting, however, we do have community rules and policies in place. If you have a moment, feel free to check in with our manager so that we can chat in more detail. We'd be happy to determine if they are in violation and can discuss next steps. We want everyone to be happy in their homes! - The Deer Crest Apartments Team

I love living here. It was a little bit of an adjustment to the new parking situation, however I do notice it has helped with being able to find a place to park at night. Thank you.

Its been great here the past two years! Love the new events and staff that has joined on! Even the maintenance requests are getting done faster! Really thankful for that!
Lowest pricing in the area with the move in special. Great location. Maintenance crew needs help, low priority/non urgent repairs take multiple requests.

If you have animals, this is the place to live. There are few breed restrictions on dogs and dogs weighing more than 10lbs are welcome. The apartment complex is community minded and strives to build that feeling.
Property Manager at Deer Crest Apartments, Responded To This Review
We definitely want our community to feel like home for our residents and their pets! Thank you for sharing a nice review about your experience here. We appreciate your 4-stars! - The Deer Crest Apartments Team
The office had a "Clerical Error" with the garages and threw our belongings in the trash. We found half of our stuff in the dumpster and the other half the staff took home. We dumpster dived for our belongings and they brought back the rest and put it into our garage. All of our bins were broken and had to be replaced. They decided to give us one month of the price of our garage rental fee. We accepted their apology but things are starting to feel targeted. They rushed a parking permit to the tenants and used email as their form of communication about this large change and have costed us $400+ in tow fees. Emails get buried by spam all the time, with no physical notice posted on doors and here we are having to pay hundreds to get our car back. All this right before the holidays with a 2 year old, and only one working parent household. We really won't be able to afford the holidays this year. I don't recommend moving here.
Property Manager at Deer Crest Apartments, Responded To This Review
Hello Isabella, We are sorry to hear you're frustrated with the parking policy change. We would like to clarify that we gave 2 ½ weeks notice and sent five emails out to our residents letting everyone know that they needed to come to the office with their current registration. We have given out over 300 permits. We would be more than happy to discuss this with you personally. We do not feel your comments are representative of our staff as we make every effort to provide professional service to the community. As mentioned above, notifications were sent out appropriately. Please do feel free to speak with our manager at your convenience. Thank you. - The Deer Crest Apartments Team
This is a safe welcoming place. Management is amazing. They work hard to keep the grounds clean. There are a few small issues, but what place doesn't.

Thank you for loving this wonderful community! It is so nice to hear your positive feedback and know how much you're enjoying the beautiful property and service from our staff. We appreciate your kind compliments and are always here to assist you! - The Deer Crest Apartments Team
Staff and residents are friendly. Management fails to enforce smoking policy in lease, so make sure you don’t have neighbors that are chain smokers. I am unable to go on my deck without being blasted with smoke from downstairs neighbors smoking at all hours on their deck.
The apartments are ok, cute. Everything is overpriced so I can't fault them for that. Some of the staff is super friendly while others aren't so much. The apartment was in decent shape when I moved in. A little dirty and a few things are missing/ broken.
Property Manager at Deer Crest Apartments, Responded To This Review
Thank you for providing our team with your feedback. We want you to have a great apartment and exceptional service from our staff. We apologize if we fell short in any way. If you need any assistance with repairs in your home, please don't hesitate to let us know and we'll be happy to work with you to ensure everything is resolved. Thank you, again. - The Deer Crest Apartments Team
Very quiet and nice neighborhood. I really like the layout of our apartment. Good communication with office staff. Easy to apply. Washer/ dryer combo in unit is just a bonus.
Property Manager at Deer Crest Apartments, Responded To This Review
Hello, Thank you for sharing such a nice review! It's wonderful that you're happy with the layout of the apartment and that your interactions with our staff have been so positive. If you need anything at all, we're always happy to help! - The Deer Crest Apartments Team
Do not rent here. Trust the negative reviews, it’s all true. Management will lie to your face and tell you what you want to hear, but never follow through on anything. Management does not care about the residents, they demonstrated that time and time again based on their unprofessional conduct and utter lack of communication. Police are at the complex a lot. I had to call multiple times because of suspected domestic situations in the middle of the night; arrests were made. Management never rectified the issue with that tenant. Amenities are also constantly broken (pool, hot tub, gym equipment, etc.). Management will tell you it’s being fixed soon, and it will take weeks or months. When I moved out, I was charged exorbitant, unreasonable amounts for pre-existing damage which maintenance did not fix before I moved in, and normal wear and tear - like a scrape on the wall. When I disputed the charges, management said because we didn’t have a move-in checklist on file, I couldn’t say anything was “pre-existing.” However, they never gave me a move-in checklist. How convenient for DeerCrest. Total move-out bill including “cleaning” and “damages” was for $1100+. They refuse to provide receipts proving that they actually made the repairs to the unit they are charging me for, surely because they didn’t actually make those repairs - just like they didn’t make them before I moved in. For current residents: DOCUMENT EVERYTHING, ASK FOR A MOVE-IN CHECKLIST if they didn’t give you one, and ASK FOR A MOVE-OUT INSPECTION so you know what they are going to charge you for in advance. Take photos of all pre-existing damage - management assessed us a $325 charge for small, pre-existing dents in the textured countertops in the kitchen that we barely noticed. Also, $300 for a pre-existing small pint chip in our bathtub. They won’t check to see if they already charged previous tenants for the same damage - they’ll just charge you for it if you don’t have photos or the move-in checklist.
Property Manager at Deer Crest Apartments, Responded To This Review
Hello Nick, We would be more than happy to review the move-out charges with you in more detail. We are very sorry to hear that you felt they were not inline with what you had expected to be billed for. We make every effort to outline the process in our lease agreement. We do follow industry standards when charging for damages at move out. If a resident did not document the condition of the apartment at move-in, we have to use our own documentation. In this case, our documentation indicated that the damages we charged for did not exist before you took possession of the apartment. We will charge for items above and beyond normal wear and tear, and items like scratched counters, broken blind rails, holes in walls, and debris like firewood left in the apartment are not normal wear and tear. Again, we certainly would be happy to discuss the details with you. We do appreciate you having been a resident with us and we hope that we can clarify any outstanding questions. Thank you. - The Deer Crest Apartments Team
This place is nothing more than a poorly managed campsite. If you need something fixed (takes weeks) good luck with getting ahold of the office also. They seem to screen phone calls and decide if they feel like calling back. But if you walk over there, they are always there? Weird. The office manager also had NO PROBLEM with sharing tenants personal information. Last week she told me everything about another tenant: his name, how many people are supposed to be on the lease and how many animals he is supposed to have. She promptly followed it up with, "don't tell anyone I told you that, I am not supposed to share that." So that's cool. The stairs look like driftwood, the dogparks are aweful and barely have any grass so they turn into mud pits with rain. Oh, and most of the outside lights are burned out and when I requested they be fixed for safety, they fixed one next to my apartment and called it good. All that and a $320 rent increase within the first year. All I have to say is RUN!
Property Manager at Deer Crest Apartments, Responded To This Review
Hello Anna, We are sorry to hear about the challenges and frustration you've expressed in your review. We would like to assure you that our staff always wants to provide our residents with professional service and we would in no way retaliate for anyone sharing their feedback. Our staff works diligently to maintain a clean and safe property and we want to address any areas you feel need additional care. We would be happy to speak with you personally about the issues you've outlined and assure you that we are always working to improve the community. Our manager is available and would like to chat in more detail at your convenience. Thank you. - The Deer Crest Team
cheaply built and gross, all the wood on the stairways and porches are rotten with paint flaking off. often the wood snaps with any pressure applied. this should have been my warning. the demo apartment is much much more put together than the actual apartment we were given after we signed the lease. the doors fell off almost immediately after moving in. water has been sleeping through our floor the entire time we’ve lived here and it smells like sewage. despite telling maintenance for several months they just pretend to do work for a few minutes then tell us nothing is wrong and leave until we complain again. the pool is always dirty and un-swimmable. the hot tub is down most of the year. there is no dog play area, that is a lie. the walls are cardboard thin and the our neighbors on all sides of us throw loud parties every night where often times somebody calls the cops and they sit outside with their lights on for hours. They increase the residents rent by a substantial amount after the first year. they attempt to charge luxury apartment prices for cheaply built and very poorly managed apartments. For what they are charging here you can get a decent apartment near by or in the surrounding areas that are much nicer and worth the price. this has been the worst living experience I have ever had, avoid this place at all cost.

Hello, We value feedback from the community as it helps us identify ways to improve our service to our residents. Unfortunately, we do not feel your review is at all representative of our property. The pool is cleaned on a regular basis and is certainly not dirty or un-swimmable. The dog play area is a beautiful, clean and grassy area. We take great pride in our property and we would be more than happy to share current photos with you of all of our amenities. If you would like to discuss these unfounded claims with our manager, please feel free to contact them at your convenience. Thank you. - The
Office staff, Location to parks, trails, and epic view of mountains, shopping center, highway. 5/5. If you are looking for super high end luxury apartment living, this is not for you. This is not a new construction but the price and location and staff are 5/5.

We appreciate you taking the time to let us know that you enjoy the community and have had a positive experience. If there is anything we can do for you, please don't hesitate to let us know how we can be of assistance. - The Deer Crest Team
This is not a well maintained complex. Maintenance requests are ignored until you have hounded them and put in numerous requests and even then work is shoddy. Snow removal is basically one pass through the parking lot and sidewalks and then it’s just ice. There is also not enough parking for the residents, often have to park far away. At lease renewal expect a large increase.

Hello, Thank you for your feedback. We're disappointed that we've not met your expectations in providing an exceptional living experience. Your feedback is very important as it will help us prioritize our improvement initiatives as we continue to improve our community and services to our residents. We would be more than happy to discuss these concerns with you so that we understand the specific issues. As an owner managed community, we have a vested interest to ensure that our community is well maintained at all times and consistently evaluate our policies and procedures. We invite you to contact our community manager at your earliest convenience. Thank you. - The Deer Crest Team
I wasn't sure I was going to be happy here after reading some of the reviews, but I have to say, I have had a great experience and I'm not sure I understand what the issues are about? I have had a few minor maintenance requests and they've been taken care of almost immediately. The office staff has always been friendly and helpful. I guess there will always be people who find things to complain about!

Hello, Thank you for sharing your perspective as a resident of our community. We're ecstatic that you are enjoying your home and the community and we appreciate your kind words towards our team. Please know that we're always here for you should there be anything we can help you with. Thank you for your 5 stars! - The Deer Crest Team
This apartment community is terrible. The apartment manager Julie and Maintenance supervisor Erick are not good community leaders for this place. Snow removal is always late, sometimes not until the day after a storm. Maintenance requests take weeks to be completed. Trash, cigarette butts, and dog poop everywhere. Missing fire extinguishers in hallways. Broken lights and covers throughout the community. Flag out front is hanging by a thread close to the ground. A neighbor said their apartment had a leaking ceiling and water seeping up through the floor on the day they moved in and it's still not fixed months later. Not once has there been preventative maintenance done. Still the same furnace filter. No one has checked the carbon monoxide or smoke detectors. Don't move here. Even if it's free, it'd be better to live in a shanty.

Deer Crest recently switched management within the past year. We have lived here for four years and they have raised our rent substantially every year. This leasing company has little to no respect for their residents. Maintenance requests are not responded to unless put in a minimum of three times and when the request is finally answered it takes about three weeks for anybody to show up. The people who work in the office are rude and often misplace packages. With the exception of one man who works at the front desk who makes the visit to the office pleasant, but he is unable to assist with anything related to rent or leasing questions. The complex is constantly under construction that they begin with no warning. The old leasing company maintained the grounds and landscaping. This new company left all of the flower beds empty with weeds growing in them and did not maintain any of the shrubs. Living here has been a stressful and miserable experience.

Hello, Thank you for providing your feedback. We are pleased to share with you that this property is now under new ownership. We are excited to make this community a beautiful and safe home for all of our current and new residents. - Deer Crest Apartments Team
Deer Crest lures you in with their beautifully-remodeled units, overly-accommodating staff, great scenery, and convenient location, but once you sign that lease, you’re stuck in a cheaply-outfitted apartment, and the staff members that were once so attentive want little to do with you and are slow to respond to any requests, if they respond at all. Maintenance staff members are in our unit on average of at least twice per month. Repairs on critical items are often done poorly, and turnover in the office is high, so a lot falls through the cracks. The glossy paint that initially makes the unit look so appealing is a curse. It sticks to everything. If you put anything on the mantle, it sticks to the glossy paint, ripping the paint off and leaving paint on your possessions. The doors also stick to their frames when you close them, so that when they’re opened, they make a disturbingly-loud popping sound. If you’re accustomed to sleeping with your door shut and you live with anyone else in the apartment – forget it. The noise is THAT loud that it wakes everyone else up in the unit. There is a horrible amount of dust in the ductwork, so if you have allergies, you should definitely stay away. And the longer you live here, the more you get to enjoy the nicotine-saturated walls. With every shower, the nicotine seeps through the thin paint more and more. The bathtub lining is also painfully cheap. Within a couple of months of living here, it’s peeling away, and clogging your drain, and no matter how often you clean it, mold and mildew builds up underneath the liner bubbles. To repair it, you have to forego a shower for about 48 hours, which you’d have to do every couple of months considering how quickly the liner breaks apart. There are large bugs (including wasps) that frequent the units, and even when you call to get on the list for pest control, they often forget to stop by on the one day a month that they’re here. Rent increases each year at a shocking rate. Our neighbors moved out shortly after we moved in because their rent had been increased several hundred dollars per month. If rent was half the cost, it still wouldn’t be worth putting up with this living situation, and if you dare to want to break your lease because you want to move elsewhere to actually get the value out of all that money you’re spending on rent each month, you are assessed a fee that is approximately equivalent to three months of rent. Stay away from Deer Crest.

I've lived here for a little over two years now. The apartments: a little outdated, but for the most part they are decent. Upper floors have vaulted ceilings, washer/dryer available in-unit, kitchens are a little small(not too much storage), bedrooms are fairly large, walk-in closets are decent size and have built-in shelving, wood burning fireplace, mine has a really nice walk-in laundry room(one of my most favorite features, but not in all units), outside storage via closet off the back porch. Maintenance: Sometimes things are a little patched over, but they are VERY responsive and dependable. Rent prices: Absolutely ridiculous, but actually a good price in comparison to similar apartments in the area. Amenities: Pool and hot tub, both resurfaced recently. Workout facility, in good condition. Dog park, nothing special , but a good fenced in area to let dogs off the leash. Front office: Super friendly, lots of fun neighborhood events planned throughout the year.

Hello, Thank you very much for your 4 star review!
Good price for the area. The staff is friendly and generally responsive to requests. They climbed onto my patio when my door lock broke and fixed it within 20 minutes. They have a small dog park and keep the property looking nice. The buildings are ok and unless someone is being really loud the soundproofing is good.

We live in a 2br, 2ba. It's a decent price for the area and for what you get - we have a dishwasher and a washer/dryer, in addition to the two full baths (including a tub and a shower in each!). When we moved in, the carpet was brand new, and I have seen them working on the apartment across the hall for new carpets, so I think they're pretty consistently doing work to refresh the apartments. The woman we worked with in the office, Ms.Florence, is absolutely amazing and we kind of wanted to be best friends with her. The maintenance guys that we've seen so far have been polite and I assume they did their work well since we haven't had continued problems. Also, there's a wood-burning fireplace! One problem, though, is that there is very little overhead light, and the ceilings have that popcorn thing so you can't really hang lamps. We're also very close (10-15 minutes by car) from a Target, a great community center gym that is very cheap, and an express bus stop to either Denver or Boulder. Overall, I would say I like it, as far as living in the suburbs goes.

Hello, Thank you very much for your 5 star review!
I have lived here since 2013 and this is one of the nicest apartments that I've lived in. I live in a garden level apartment which does have its drawbacks. There are vents in the window trim that leak air in the winter. I was forced to put plastic over all of the Windows and from what I can tell all of the apartments are probably like that. Other than that, I have nothing but praise for this apartment. The staff is very friendly and helpful and will do anything they can to make sure you're satisfied. The walls are thick enough that I've only heard the neighbors twice in the two years that I've lived here. The fireplace does work but will not heat any more than just the living room. Some of the garden level apartments flood during heavy rain and my neighbors had to be put in a hotel for a week. Overall this is a good place to live but there are much newer and presumably nicer apartments just across us 36.
