Property Ratings at Deer Run Apartments
Poor maintenance. No hot water. No office help. Dirty mailbox area

Not a pleasant transfer experience, and I've lived in this community almost 10 years. What should have been a smooth transition into the townhouse, has been a nightmare.
Property Manager at Deer Run Apartments, Responded To This Review
We sincerely apologize for the conditions you have been experiencing. Please know that your concerns are important to us here at Deer Run. We are pleased to inform you that we have a new maintenance team in place that is dedicated to rectifying all outstanding issues. Additionally, we have already addressed the water heater problem you reported. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to improve your experience.
Deer Run used to be a good community to live at until the new management took over. Since the new management has taken over they have added charges that are not part of the lease, they do not respond to emails or calls, the fire alarms constanty go off and they do nothing to reach out to the tenants to inform them if they are doing anything about it, and if tenants leave trash out when they move they do nothing to deal with it even as animals are started to go through it. The provided a new community support person and within 2 months the contact information for that person is no longer working.
So Far No Complaints, Our Privacy Is Important To Us And So Far It's Been Great
Deer run is not worth it. Over priced units thrown together.
I love the yards, private entrance, the amazon hub. I love the closeness to trails. I like my neighbors, and it feels safe and inviting. I've lived here a long time and want to stay for many more.
My experiences with Deer Run are not very positive. Beautiful unit, but make all the repairs done before you move in because once you are in, no one cares about you.
I Love It Here! Clean, Safe, Quite community to live in.
I like the location and the attached garage and the quietness of the area.
This is no longer what I would consider a top-notch apartment complex. I still consider the adjoining garage and wood fireplace as important amenities for me, but having the pool shut down for most of last summer and not addressing the broken equipment problem in the fitness center are inexcusable for a facility that considers itself to be a luxury apartment complex..
I would not recommend Deer Run Apartment to anyone. Rent is extremely high and since the new management company came in, service has been horrible.
Office personnel is excellent! However, maintenance is subpar. It takes too long to have repairs done, items are marked completed and not started, work has been started and not completed, and the repair person seems unconcerned of the multiple requests submitted. Although the property and location are nice, the lack of attentiveness from maintenance makes living there unattractive!
The apartment is dated with gaps in the windows and doors yet my rent was raised almost $100 a month. All appliances are outdated. I’m staying because I feel safe but overall I would not recommend Deer Run.
I haven’t lived here very long, but it feels like a very safe community and upkeep seems like a priority.
The property is beautiful! Office staff is amazing, however, the maintenance crew is the worst you could every imagine and the property is going down as a result! If they hire more people, or tighten up the maintenance this property would be the best!
Property management has excellent customer service skills. They took their time with explaining anything I had questions about, a joy to talk to. The experience felt like a breeze.
Apartments not worth the rent amount charged. The whole complex looks run down and shabby!!
Deer Run has been "dear" to me and I love my home here. Although all changes I have experienced have not been the best, management is putting forth a valiant and purposeful effort to maintain an 'A-One' for this community.
The new management at Deer Run is excellent. Multiple projects going on, many things are being taken care of. Lighting has been restored throughtout the property, the pool grounds are being upgraded, ground crew hired. The property looks great. The office staff is very friendly and will listen to any concerns you have. Maintence is efficient. Im very pleased with the new management here. I highly recommend Deer Run.
Overall, Deer Run is a great, though expensive, community to live in. I've lived here for quite a few years and enjoy the security and safety of the community.
Completely horrible property. There are bugs everywhere inside apartment. Under previous management I was able to get an exterminator. Under this group I was told to purchase something from the store. That’s unacceptable to me. The entire property is unappealing and unkept. Previous management made sure the property looked nice. If you try to email management about anything there is no response or acknowledgment at all. It’s just completely horrible and I only continue here so my daughter does not have to change schools but that may change because it’s horrible.
The place looks very run down especially around the mail box area. Stop signs need updating, litter never gets picked up and dog station rarely has bags.
Deer Run is overrated been here 9 months and still waiting on them to fix stuff, trash everywhere, smells like trash for a week, because the garbage is picked up at random.
Numerous issues with these apartments. Be prepared for old outdated appliances, all types of spiders and pantry bugs. Hornets nest all over the property. Very overpriced, poor management that is money hungry.
I am most impressed with the professionalism and friendliness of the staff, both management and maintenance. Anxiously looking forward to enjoying the summer months here at Deer Run.
I have lived here for 16 years and 6 months and the accommodations and amenities have always satisfied my needs. When compared to my previous experiences at other residences, the most outstanding feature here is the responsiveness of the maintenance department, even under less than ideal circumstances like during the pandemic. One thing I would like to see addressed in the future: replacing the trees that have had to be cut down. The more greenery in the landscape, the better I like it. Another outstanding feature is the upgrade to the fitness center and the common room - nice job.
Love my attached garage, in unit washer/dryer and especially my natural fireplace!, most importantly I feel safe living at Deer Run apartments.
I applied for an apartment and paid $150 to hold the apartment. My application was denied but my promised refund has yet to hit my bank account and it has been 6 weeks. I have gotten no answers from the property as to why as the manager will not call me back. I have gotten contact 6 involved.
I applied to Deer Run, called to follow up on my application at least twenty times in a period of two weeks and no one answered the phone. I had to drive to the property, just to find out if I was approved and the manager gave a million excuses for not answering. In addition, before applying, I was told that if I chose another apartment, the price would stay the same, however, the manager stated that they have a new system so they can’t honor what was told to me and that I would have to pay whatever the new apartment is going for. Therefore, I decided to withdraw my application as the management of this property is unprofessional and non-responsive. Do yourself a favor and choose another place for the price you’re spending. You’ll save yourself from a massive headache.
Overall, my experience has been very positive and I enjoy living here. However, having lived here since 1998, I have seen some less than positive changes in the community. I do believe GreyStar will return this place to it's glory days.
I like living here at Deer Run, its clean and safe and when I need maintenance done it's done in a timely fashion and and if they can't get the work done right away they usually let us know why .There's nearby shopping stores which makes it convenient.
My family and I have been leaving here for 3 years and every time you turn around it’s something. I would not recommend anyone to stay here. Every since the grandson has taking over it has been horrible
Parking is ridiculous!! They are now going to be charging for surface parking. The back half is where most of the parking problem is since there is no townhouses back there. They have plenty of grassy areas that they can tear up and make more parking but are choosing not to go that route. Probably do to the cost! I see they raised rent $200 more on the website. These apartments are not worth it! They are far from luxury! Everyone is upset about the parking that live in the apartments. Their has been a lot of people calling up to the office asking for corporates phone number and address to address our concerns and they are refusing to give it to us. It would be a huge mistake if you move in here. We are regretting it! Please do not make the mistake we made!
The amount of money an individual sheds out monthly in the place definitely not worth it. Outdated appliances. You need something from the office count on receiving a bad attitude and poor customer service. Office staff treats tenants like trash. Count on your electric bill being through the roof. Apartment poorly insulated, neighbors dogs pooping all over. I can’t wait until my lease is up I will be leaving. You would think for the price you could receive decent customer service.Notttt!! Save yourself some trouble and look elsewhere. Also doors are tiny so moving in requires going over the balcony. Good luck with that one.
Deer Run Apartments in Brown Deer, WI Currently in temporary housing here the past 3 months through Home Networks after moving from Florida. We like it so much we have rented a townhouse here and moving in this weekend. Nice quiet complex, with spacious rooms at affordable rent cost with trash, water and sewage included. Plus a wood burning fireplace. Friendly neighbors and friendly office staff.
I currently lease an apartment here, all I have are nice things to say. Deer run Apts are nicely kelp, quiet, with a friendly staff. I just recently lost my mom, and I must say Deer run has truly been understanding in my time of need. Hats off to Deer Run Apts
Deer Run apartments has every thing that a single professional or a family can ask for. The apartments style is unique, since it's not clustered and gives you that condo/ranch style spacious living. I dislike apartments that are clustered together like a hotel and everyone shares the same entrances. These apartments have their own entrance, enclosed attached garage with entrance to the apartment and a nice patio. Deer run community is very quite; in terms of people and traffic. The community is surrounded by many restaurants, shopping, groceries and medical facilities. It's a short 7 mins to HWY 43. The staff at Deer Run are very friendly and helpful. Maintenance is always available in a timely manner. I'm going into my third year at Deer Run, and I must say there is nothing else in the area I would moved to. Before I moved into Deer Run two years ago, I searched 17 apartments in the area and non compared. I'm a pleased and happy resident of Deer Run. Richard
Private entry, quiet, nice size rooms & closets. Wager & dryer are older but do the job. Fireplace & garage are nice touch. Good rental office maintenance staff. Not as updated for the price. Must pay extra for updates appliances.
Office staff can be rude. Unclean facilities, too many bugs.
The good: Large dogs allowed. Split bedroom plan is great for roommates. 1-car garage with 1 garage remote per apartment. Satellite receivers allowed. Two of the 3 bedrooms have double doors. Small storage room off balcony/porch. The bad: Advertised as "luxury" apartments but not even close by my definition. No alarm system! Lock on entry doors is single-cylinder deadbolt - no chain for extra security when you're home. Old-fashioned coil burners on stove won't sit flat so we can only use 2 of the 4 burners. No icemaker! The range hood doesn't suck up cooking odors, it just disperses them to the master bathroom. No coat closet. The washer/dryer is located in the second bathroom instead of stand-alone. The second bathroom frequently smells like garlic or whatever our downstairs neighbor is cooking. Only one towel rack per bathroom. Shower surface isn't smooth so suction cups won't stick. Trim is beat up. Closet doors are on rickety track system. Because of the bizarre arrangement of entry door and set of stairs to get to apartment, we couldn't move our standard length couch or our entertainment system to the living room! They now sit in the garage... The ugly: You have to watch maintenance like a hawk to make sure repairs are done to satisfaction. We told management about the paint on our door being cracked and they just painted over it without removing the old cracked paint first! Management is not very responsive and aren't friendly. Mail isn't delivered on any sort of a schedule as far as I can tell. Some days it's here by 12noon, other days not until 4pm. Packages that don't fit in the centrally located mailbox have to be picked up from the leasing office. Management allows dogs to be off-leash, contrary to city ordinance. That's UNSAFE for people and other animals. If you have a truck or SUV don't even think of parking in your driveway on trash or recycling day because they won't pick up your trash/recycling unless it's at least 3 feet away from any vehicles...
I enjoy renting due to not having to worry with shoveling and cutting grass. Also, those unexpected expenses such as appliance repair, roofing, plumbing, etc. I also enjoy the amenities such as swimming pool, workout area, whirlpool, bike trail, clubhouse, etc. I would never consider being a home owner again!!
"3 Bedrooms with plenty of closet space" I was so excited, yes we do have 3 bedrooms, but not closet space. Our stove only has 2 heating elements we can use because the other 2 are bent and our pots slide off! When we use the oven we have to lower the temp by at leaat 100 degrees because it isn't "calibrated"? and they have tried to "calibrate" it many times? Oh well if I close my eyes and make believe it really is "luxary" and it is better then being homeless!
Currently in a temporary corporate apartment but like it very much. Love the spacious rooms. Thinking of staying in the complex if they have any townhouses open. Right now on first floor and guy upstairs walks very heavy and slams doors.
Beautiful apartment community in a great location. Love the amenities!
Very attractive place to live. I almost signed a lease. The major downside is having electric heat, electric hot water and gas heat all at the same time.
My experience visiting/touring Deer Run was none short of spectacular. I felt it was a beautiful, warm and inviting family oriented community. I felt a sense of serenity and comfort. I am so excited about this journey that I am about to begin and possibly making Deer Run my new home. Thanks.
