Property Ratings at Deer Wood Apartments
Would not recommend these apartments to anybody. The maintenance department is frequently incompetent, the management is often antagonistic towards tenants and both are very lazy. Here’s what you can expect if you move in: -Expect to go without water at least once a week for several hours at a time. The water is frequently turned off without warning during the day to accommodate ambiguous maintenance issues. While it is not uncommon for water to be turned off at apartment complexes to deal with such “maintenance issues” it has happened far more frequently than is normal and the managements gives no advance warning, instead preferring to email tenants after the water has already been shut off. I have had to go to work without a shower twice in the past because the water was shut off. -If you’re a responsible dog owner that follows the rules and walks your dog on a leash, expect to have other tenants’ unleashed dogs bother your dog but don’t expect management to ever contact residents about this kind of thing. -If there is a maintenance issue expect the maintenance men to need to come into your apartment several times over the next few months, they don’t know what they’re doing. If a pandemic is ongoing do not expect the maintenance staff to wear masks in your apartment. Instead of making their maintenance person wear a mask the office will just call and threaten to hold you financially responsible for any damages that might occur if you don’t let their unmasked maintenance person into your apartment. Furthermore, don’t expect them to replace anything. They’d rather blow money on building a grill area during a pandemic (!) than replace anything. -A friend of mine that also lives here referred a friend of their’s to the property who ultimately decided to sign a lease. In exchange my friend was supposed to receive a referral credit on their account but had to bother management about it for over a year. One of the managers of the property tried to stop the referral credit on the basis that the referred resident, who at this point had lived at the complex for a full year, was moving out due to their own dissatisfaction with the complex. Completely absurd. If you refer a customer to a business and they promise you something in return the business should uphold their end of the bargain in a timely fashion. It is not the fault of the customer if the business is so poorly managed that they are unable to maintain a good relationship with the referred customer.
The manager and maintenance staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. They get tasks done in a timely manner and make living here exceptional. Melanie

I would not recommend living on the 2nd floor. It gets too hot. The central air is horrible. It stays in the 80's in my apartment. I can't wait to move out, because the office clearly doesn't care. They have told me over and over it's hot because i live on the 2nd floor. That is a poor excuse. My poor 2 year old has eczema, and the heat makes her break out really bad. We are ready for our lease to be finished.

We haven't been here 3 whole months yet. Since the first week we moved into this apartment we have had issues. Leaks in the bathroom and kitchen multiple times. The bathroom actually flooded. Sewage water coming up the bathroom sink, on two occasions. There is evidence of previous water damage so this was a known issue with this unit. The AC unit leaks right into the bathroom sink, I've been waiting 5 days for maintenance to patch it up, nothing is fixed here. I put the request in online, since I can't get any one in the office on the phone or in person for the last 5 days. This is the second time I've had AC leaking issues. I contacted the property management company LumaCorp when we had the flood, still no response from them. The appliances are very old I've put in maintenance request twice for the refrigerator. The refrigerator is disgusting. The dishwasher has leaked twice. The tile in the tub was broken when we moved in and the faucet loose. The faucet is loose again. Once again we haven't been here 3 whole months yet. These apartments look very nice on the outside but they aren't. I do not recommend these apartments.

They moved us into an apartment that was full of bed bugs and were only willing to compensate me by taking $100 off my rent for one month. They did hire an exterminator but after fighting bedbugs for 5 months we decided to move once they were under control.

Not bad price range could have been a little more generous
I've never lived here, but I'm planning on moving here soon. Love the floor plans, affordable prices, and very nice apartments. Can't wait to move!
