Property Ratings at DeKalb
The location is great and there is a convenience factor to the property. However, I have been dealing with multiple problems since I moved into my apartment. The trash chute is frequently broken, the hot water is off multiple times a month, packages are left in the lobby unguarded, and they have a HUGE mouse problem. One person in the office is quite rude and maintenance constantly minimizes problems and jokes around without fixing them. The property looks great on paper, but be cautious because it is not as great as it seems (especially for the price).

Moved in 2018, loved it here. Now I can’t get out fast enough. Management will never respond, very bad mice infestation; think NYC before it’s sewer system??. Maintenance will never come, if it’s broke it’s yours to fix. Prices has increased exponentially, quality as decreased at the same rate. Save your money and sanity, look elsewhere!

This place used to be a great place to live, recently it became absolutely terrible, extremely loud residents come to the building at 1 to 3 am yelling and shouting, music blasting, cussing, most of the time the building smells like weed, the maintenance suck if anything breaks good luck trying to reach someone to fix, management never answers, all in all every single thing about living here is horrible

The carpet it's so gross it should have been replaced years ago. The rent increase is outrageous. Water constantly being shut off due to poor building maintenance. If you want live in dirty apt this is the place for you. I can't wait to move out! I would not recommend this place.

I've lived here for two years now and absolutely love it. I'm in one of the newer buildings which is in beautiful condition, and it could be a testament to the building construction itself, but I've never had an issue other than a faulty battery in a smoke detector (high ceilings - maintenance responded quickly and efficiently). I've also always felt really safe here - and as a young woman living solo for the first time, that's a really important factor for me. Everyone who works here - whether it's the maintenance team, grounds crew, or the leasing office staff - is so friendly and helpful. You can tell they take a lot of pride in keeping this place immaculate, and it makes you feel proud to live here. They do cute little pool parties and breakfast-on-the-go every now and then for residents, and you really feel like you're part of a community. And my favorite part of living here has to be the location and convenience to, well, just about anything. KOP Mall is 15 minutes away, the Norristown train station to get into the city is 10 minutes away, the turnpike/Blue Route/Schuylkill, a ton of other shopping centers, restaurants, and really anything else you'd need are within minutes. This is a fantastic place to call home.
Dekalb is one of the best apartments. I had many apartments on my list but Dekalb was the best. I even broke my prior lease to come to Dekalb. The management staff is amazing. They're very responsive and answer your calls immediately. They host various events and keep you updated on neighborhood news. The location is very ideal-having grocery stores and restaurants right across the street. They provide a safe, clean and friendly environment. I have never had any problems. The buildings are absolutely clean and up to date. They have staff coming in daily to keep it maintained. Definitely a wonderful place.
Safe, welcoming, comfortable, really a wonderful place to call home! You can choose between more upscale, newly renovated buildings for a little more rent, or one of the older buildings that are just as functional and great places to live! Tons of parking, fantastic gym space and I cannot wait to use the pool & invite some friends!
DEKALB D-Dream - (The Pillow that was given to me by the Leasing Office as one of the Welcome Package Gift. “Living the Dream”). E-Effort – The consistent and outstanding effort that is put forth of the up keep of my apartment, the buildings and the grounds from the staff to make my home beautiful. K-Kindness-The Leasing staff, Maintenance staff and Environmental Service staff shows kindness to the Residents and each other. A- Awesome Attitude- the Residents here are respectful to one another. The attitude is infectious throughout everyone at DeKalb. L-Living- “Living the Dream” the phrase on my pillow. I could not see myself having a home anywhere else. B-Beautiful- The Apartments are updated and being renovated with 21st Century touch of Classy Contemporary look, with State of the Art Fitness Centers and Community Center. Being a new resident to DeKalb, I am grateful of a wonderful place to live. Coming from a lovely established home to downsizing into an apartment home can be overwhelming, however, becoming a resident at DeKalb made my experience and expectations to be amazing and humbling. Thank you DEKALB-(Scully Company)
Been living in one of the older buildings for over a year now. The location is great, off the street and across from shops. It is also a very quiet and friendly environment! The people are friendly and I haven't had any experience at all with noisy neighbors. The maintenance crew is great too! They are super speedy with your requests, if I file a work order in the morning, it is always completed by that evening. And they are great about being on-call and reacting to lock-out calls (oops). Would love to stay in this complex and move into the new building (such beautiful apartments). Snow removal is also on point. We had a big blizzard last year and they were continuously plowing and salting even throughout the storm and even had the bob-cat out helping people dig out their cars. Awesome place. We love it.
I moved to Dekalb Apartments last August and I've really enjoyed my time here so far. It is my first time living on my own at 22 and Dekalb Apartments really made the transition pleasant. The apartments are clean, laundry and rubbish are accessible on each floor, and there are two gyms. The Dekalb representatives are willing to help and are quick to respond via email. The maintenance team has been very helpful too. The location is really convenient. I'm 20-30 minutes away from Philly and the highway is very close. I'm incredibly happy with this place!
I live in one of the older buildings (classic) and the apartment is nice for the price. Maintenance requests are usually a quick turnaround. Rent bill is posted online & can be paid online (for a fee). The electric (classic buildings are Monitor Data) can be paid online (for a fee) as well for added convenience. The area is convenient because it is close to shopping (Giant, Weis, Aldi, Walmart etc) and other restaurants. One of the biggest plus points is the gym in the newer building. It has cycling classes available to stream and "ScullyFit" which allows you to virtually run through other cities!! The team in the leasing office is very courteous, helpful, and quick to respond to questions via email. Also, it's impressive that they remember residents by name.
I leased a studio apartment at DeKalb for 6 months and overall I am happy with my stay. The office staff are friendly and accommodating and the gyms are in good condition. I can't comment on the pool as I have not even seen it. I lived in one of the older buildings and it was just fine for my needs. Very quiet and clean. The couple of times I had to call for a service request the maintenance guys did their jobs just fine. I did have an issue where my refrigerator apparently died and I had to back-and-forth with them a couple of times. Ultimately it was replaced - not with a new one but one that worked just fine so I'm happy - and I was compensated for my spoiled goods. Would not hesitate to extend my stay here if it were only closer to where I work.
I had a wonderful experience living here for 2 years. The location is convenient as you are near KOP, Conshohocken and all major highways. It is a really nice community to live in with some nice perks (gym, pool, onsite washer/dryer, storage, etc). Most importably the staff were very friendly and attentive….right down from the folks in the office to maintenance. Overall this is a well managed community that truly makes an effort for their tenants. I highly recommend and would have lived here longer if I didn't have to move.
I have lived here for a little over three years. I work in retail and have a very busy, changing, and random schedule. The offices are open normal business hours everyday (no closed days which is nice!). The pool is beautiful and reminds me of all the best parts of going to visit my grandparents in flordia. The gyms are in each building. Which has a little of everything. The main building has the biggest gym that is open to anyone. Each floor has a laundry room. The apartments are decent size. If you're not going to use all the perks (gym, pool, etc) there is definitely cheaper out there. But you won't find cheaper that has everything that's here and as nice. I had a problem when I first moved in with the apartment I was given that wasn't noticed until a few months in. The complex handled it beautifully. They are always checking the apartments (all of them) for pests and such. Which I have yet to encounter due to their diligence in this matter. I hardly ever notice I have neighbors. I definitely can't hear them in my apartment. I'm pretty loud with my TV and have never had a complaint so I assume they can't hear me either. My only complaint is the parking. I really wish we had assigned parking. Because sometimes I come home very late and there isn't a spot to be found near my building. There is always empty spots near other buildings. But I can't really complain about that. They always fix things quickly and I never see them doing it.
The staff here are wonderful. Everyone that I have met is more than willing to help you if you ever need it. The maintenance team is very quick when you put in a work request, it is completed within the day sometimes an hour after you submitted it. It really does feel like home here. The only complaint I have is that the power goes out a decent amount. I have been living here for 2 months and it has gone out about 5 or 6 times since I moved in. Overall, nice price for the area and what you are getting in an apartment.
I've been living at Dekalb for about 6-7 months now and I can say I'm glad I chose to move to Dekalb. I've never lived on my own. I can tell you that it was the atmosphere which helped me decide to move to Dekalb. All good vibes!!! The leasing office was veryyyyyyyyyyy helpful, understood my needs and helped me through the entire process (from multiple apartment tours, answering my endless questions, and finding an apartment that fit me and my budget). I live in a studio. The storage and floor space I have in my apartment is great!!! The added bonus I love is the gym facilities! Also management is great! I can't speak for everyone, but the manager and his team are very efficient when it comes to maintenance requests.
Dekalb apartments are very conveniently located, with easy access to major highways, grocery stores and to King of Prussia. The management has been great too, and they have taken care of maintenance issues promptly. The premises and the general areas are always clean, and they remove snow immediately. I strongly recommend Dekalb Apartments after having stayed here for five years.
Great place to live. It is very quiet and clean and the maintenance staff are great.
Property is well maintained. Office is very responsive and the staff is very nice.
These apartments are beautiful! I've lived here for a year and everyone is so nice even all of my neighbors! It's so quiet here and it's a huge community so much to do!
Lived here for 4 years in 1 of the older buildings, and it's gone downhill quickly thanks to a new manager who thinks the tenants work for him and not the other way around! TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE! If you want to be harassed 24/7 if you step out of line in any way, this is the place to live!
Apartments are beautiful. Grounds are always kept immaculate. The fitness center was newly renovated and features the latest equipment. They even offer free workout classes for the residents. I would love to see them offer yoga or Pilates the classes they offer are a wide variety but do not include those. Maintenance issues are addressed immediately as well. The location of the apartments is great and close to the turnpike, KOP, Plymouth meeting and minutes from everything! I also rarely hear my neighbors which is a lot to be said for newer construction!
Never seen such a people friendly apartment – Be a tech savvy or a retired veteran or a home maker etc., this place is apt for you. With all high-tech gym equipments (My favorite pick is the top cities-simulated thread mill), complimentary Wifis, digitalized mobile calling door features, diversified nationalities, walkable to 10 restaurants & shopping complexes, well connected public transportations, next door Mercy Suburban hospital, you’ll fall in love with the first sight of it, like I did. The management also doesn’t forget to commemorate their residents – there are pool parties, year-end parties, themes and fun filled games held to keep people engaged and socialized. One additional advantage is the facility manager resides in the same apartment complex and the response time is awesome. I believe I’ve already found a real home with a lively community which exceeded my expectation!!!
The staff at the leasing office is very helpful and friendly. They find the right balance between running the business and a community atmosphere. The complex is well kept and the maintenance staff is helpful, friendly, polite and clean! Neighbors are neighbors. There is a friendly atmosphere but people will also keep to themselves and respect others' privacy. I've lived at Dekalb Apartments for 15 months and plan to stay. The rent is very reasonable for the area and for a single women, it's important that I feel safe and it is. Shopping is plentiful and there's public transportation nearby as well. The pool and gym are looked after as well. 4.85 stars out of 5.
Living here has been a pleasant experience thanks to the respectful and efficient staff members, prompt maintenance work, clean lobbies, great amenities (we appreciate the nice gym and pool!) and the availability of various grocery stores, shops, restaurants, and fast food all within 10 miles of this location. We are also, of course, enjoying our beautiful apartment unit.
Located in the perfect spot for an easy commute to plenty of restaurants, malls, and downtown. The staff has always been kind and helpful and the building is well maintained and cleaned. The pool is extremely nice with plenty of lounge chairs and even a hot tub. The price is very affordable and I would absolutely recommend to friends and family!
I am extremely happy to stay in this apartment , calm and good location. Wish to stay here ever.
I Moved into the Dekalb last summer. After living here for a year I am pleased to say that I am happy to call it home. The building is clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. I have had minimal work orders and they have all been handled in a timely manner. It's a homey environment. The parking is great. The location is right near almost anything you will need. I have lived in other apartments and I don't encounter the noise from upstairs neighbors as I have done in the past. It's a huge plus! The buildings sit back off the road so the traffic is drowned out making it a peaceful place to live.
Being 22 and moving out of my house and into a new area and a new apartment was tough. But the staff at DeKalb made the transition an easy one. The apartment they had for me feels like my home now! I have a studio apartment at the moment and I love it. I haven't had any issues and the leasing office is very helpful when I have questions! Also, I do have to say the distance to shopping centers and the King of Prussia Mall is great it's less than 10 minutes to anything you need, even the Turnpike is very close! It is definitely going to be my home for a long time.
Living at the dekalb apartments has been a pleasure, leaving here almost a year and I couldn't be happier, easy access to every place with plenty of food and shopping around,? Planning on moving into the upgraded building! If you like night life and covinence then this is the place for you!!!!!
I recently moved in and so far I am very happy. The community manager is very helpful and gets back to you fast. Whenever you have a problem with anything it gets resolved fast. It's a very nice place to live. Also they started a fitness group which is also awesome.
I LOVE MY APARTMENT, so when my mom got ill and I fell behind on my rent I thought I would lose it. Thanks to the staff that worked in the leasing office that kept encouraging me that it would be ok, and assuring me that all would be well their kind spirit pushed me to do what I needed to do to keep my place. I love it, so clean, professionally run, call it what you want. I call it home and I will never give it up.
At DeKalb Apartments, there are two types of buildings you can choose from: the Premier Buildings (fully renovated apartments) and the Classic Buildings. I chose an apartment in one of the Classic Buildings because it's a great value for the money. My apartment is a great size, with ample closet space and lots of natural light. There are a lot of things to love about this apartment. The balcony is spacious. No outdoor view from balcony or windows is a bad view--DeKalb has planted lots of trees to help make the views look pleasant. The bedrooms are also a great size, as are the closets (my apartment includes a master bedroom walk-in closet, a very large hall closet, plus a linen closet and a nice-sized closet in each of the other 2 bedrooms). There is an air conditioning unit in each bedroom as well as the living room, allowing me to control temperature (and electric bill costs!) easily. Speaking of utilities, DeKalb actually pays for many of them--things like water, sewer, trash, and gas and gas heat are covered. You're responsible for your electric, cable, and internet bills (another nice thing is that you can get Verizon FIOS or Comcast in these apartments). The amenities are nice, too. The pool is great, and the revamped fitness centers (the main one has virtual classes) are fantastic. It's never tough to find a good parking spot. The grounds are well-maintained, and if you have a problem in your apartment, maintenance responds promptly and gets the job done well. (Out of all the apartments I've ever lived in, DeKalb's maintenance is by far the best I've experienced.) Each member of the staff I've spoken with, from front desk personnel to maintenance to the property manager, has been courteous and great to work with. There are a few things that could be better about the apartment. The kitchen and two bathrooms are a little smaller than one might expect (but it doesn't take long to get used to them). Also, the apartments can get noisy. I can regularly hear noise from our upstairs, next door, and downstairs neighbors--I wish the walls/ceilings/floors were a little thicker or better soundproofed. Overall, DeKalb Apartments--particularly the Classic Buildings--are a happy place to live and an excellent value for your money.
Studio apartment, 350 sq. Ft in classic building Pros: Tons of storage space for a studio. Basement storage units available. Rent includes most utilities. Laundry rooms on every floor. Good location just off Germantown pike. Pool on site. Very friendly staff. Complex with 4 buildings; 2 classic, 2 newer. Cons: Hospital (next door) tends to be loud Cats only allowed. Dogs not even allowed on property. Electrical outlets near kitchen in awkward spots, hard to plug in appliances. Overall: A good apartment. Great amenities for the price.
