Property Ratings at Desert Jewel Apartments
nothing is ever fixed and trash/ dog poop everywhere
I was so excited to move in here after I took a tour and had a friendly conversation with the managers John and Brandi. Shortly after move in, I noticed 3-5 roaches every day inside my house and outside on the side walks. No matter how much I sprayed myself, or complained to the office nothing was fixed. Soon after the manager John (who was very friendly) left, Brandi then became the full time manager. She is very unapproachable and rude. During monsoon season I noticed a leak from the ceiling in my child's room. I called the office right away and put in a maintenance order. No one ever came. A week later I woke up to water covering my feet and a crack in the ceiling. I called the office again, 2 days later someone came to look, but did NOTHING! A week later I happened to be home sick and was in my room, i notice that water was rolling into my room from underneath my door. I opened my door and found that the ceiling had completely collapsed. Water was up to the middle of my chins. I called the office, then the emergency line. Brandi came over and decided it was too much money to call someone to take care of it so she and another tenet came to clean up the water. It took another month for the ceiling to get fixed. I asked to contact the owner, and all I got were 2 bogus email address. Needless to say I moved out and never looked back. I would NOT recommend the property to anyone!!
The apartment manager, Brandi, has always been warm and welcoming. She's always ready and willing to chat with me about any issues I may have, or even to just ask how my day is going when we pass each other in the complex. This is the best apartment complex I have lived in here in Arizona. You can feel that Brandi runs it like you're family, and that she takes care of her family.
I have lived here at Desert Jewel, for a little over three years. I can finally give this property a 5 star rating, now that we have been provided with a new property manager. In previous years during my stay here, I have seen the property go downhill quickly, literally before my own eyes. Between the amenities, the standard of people living here, and especially the office and grounds employees not doing their jobs to peak performance, I was ready to pack my families bags and run, and not look back. Thankfully, that has all, not only begun to change, but I think that the improvements on the grounds, the different array of tenants coming in, the office and grounds employees, have spoken volumes in regards to the wonderful changes that are being made here. The new and improving Desert Jewel, a LUXURY APARTMENT COMPLEX, now has a wonderful new property manager, and her name is Brandy. I have not only had the pleasure to meet and speak with personally, but can tell you that I have seen the care that she has put into making this property great. We tenants can finally take a sigh of relief, knowing that there is a property manager, who truly cares for its tenants, as well as, the property. Even though Brandy has not been property manager for a full year yet, we have had marked improvements in many areas, and she is not done yet. Brandy has redone the pool and made it safer for our families and children to swim in, she has even finally installed the HEATER for the pool, amazingly, so that some of us who enjoy the water a bit warmer during cooler days, can now enjoy the pool along with everyone else. Brandy has upgraded the furniture around the pool, fixed the outside doors and locks that had previously been broken or jammed by children and adults alike. Brandy has refurnished the fitness center with up-to-date equipment. In my opinion, the owners couldn't have provided their tenants, with a more professional, yet caring property manager, who is looking out for everyone's best interests and doing a wonderful job at it. Being a manager in itself is no picnic, there will always be things that are not within your control and as much as you try, you will not be able to make everyone happy all the time.
I have been living in my apartment for a few years now and I love it. My apartment has high ceilings and wonderful lighting. I have ceiling fans in both bedrooms. My floors are hard wood and very easy to clean. The hardwood floors come in handy since I still have small children. My washer and dryer is located on the patio, which I'm not to fond of. Sometimes I drop my underware on the ground when transferring my clothes from the washer to dryer which is very annoying. I have a huge pantry in my kitchen and walk in closet in my room. My daughters bedroom has a smaller closet but her room is a great size. My kitchen appliances are white which I HATE! However, the recently renovated units have stainless steel. I plan on moving to a renovated unit after this lease ends for the stainless steel appliances and the washer and dryers are located in the unit, which is exactly what I want. I love my apartment staff and neighbors and will more then likely stay here until I get married. If I get married lol.
Maybe 10 years ago. Apartment manager Brandi is very unapproachable. Fitness center is a joke.
Poor Management staff at our complex, as if they don't care. High rent for nothing isn't fair to good paying people. Lots of repairs need done, Fitness Center closed until further notice lol, just to name a few things. I love my place here, but paying high rent for very little. Many people are moving when lease is done and it shouldn't be this way. Treat your tenants well and caring for their concerns is really important.
