Burien is a small suburban city, perfectly positioned to give residents easy access to virtually everything the Puget Sound area has to offer. Downtown Seattle is less than fifteen miles north and Sea-Tac Airport lies just outside the city’s southeast corner, making it an excellent rental location for commuters and jet-setters.
The community enjoys a large waterfront area, with Seahurst Park providing an unspoiled natural playground with stunning views of Puget Sound and the evergreen forests of the Pacific Northwest. The area known as “Olde Burien” serves as the city’s highly-walkable downtown business district, with an abundance of locally-owned shops, restaurants, and watering holes clustered together along 152nd Street.

Property Ratings at Desie
I was genuinely blown away by the friendliness of the staff and the amazing indoor pool here seriously impressive and the selling point! The kitchens are newly remodeled and very modern! However, it was a bit disappointing that the specific home I was interested in wasn't available for viewing. Nonetheless, the overall experience left me very intrigued about the possibility of living here!

From the experience living here, I would say location, maintenance and management make this a place to call home. While I know there are some negative reviews for the past few years, the recent team has been a joy to work with and I encourage anyone who is curious to come and feel the energy and care that is currently put into Desie Apartments!

Sarah the new manager is amazing, so responsive, kind, and gets things done! Zaine in the office is also very helpful. They put together a holiday party for everyone with a hot cocoa bar and everything, it was so nice, and they said there will be more resident events from now on. Things are definitely turning around in the best way here!

Recently moved out due to the changes in management. The current property manager is awful and discourteous. They always raise rent by $100 per month with every new lease. Parking is atrocious. DONT move here.

Pros: close to shopping and downtown Seattle, one of the most affordable apartments in the area. own laundry in apartment, awesome office staff Cons: Parking is absolutely horrible, nearby crime, allows smoking in apartments, no matter how many times you ask maintenance to fix the garbage disposal in the kitchen sink it will still be broken, your innards will hurt from the speed bumps no matter how slow you go, very thin walls and ceiling/floors you’ll hear your roommates and neighbors a lot

I’ve lived here at Discovery Landing since 2015. My move here was made easy for me, I moved from out of state and the office staff provided me a move in checklist and everything was so organized and smooth, as moving is hectic anyways. The staff here are great, they work hard to tackle any issues brought to their attention and fairly fix it. Parking is tight, the staff work hard to monitor parking and it’s tight but good with the scheduled monitoring. The staff are on top of it, I see them every outside tagging non moved vehicles all the time. I love the amenities here the manager has done many upgrades to the place, she resealed the parking lot looks soo good!! And updated the fitness center they got a whole bunch of new equipment, they also got new pool furniture for the indoor pool, I use it all the time. They throw events that are so welcoming, there summer BBQ bash and holiday party are the best! This October there throwing a pumpkin painting contest for the kidos which I think is going to be adorable to see the artwork. I love living here, you can tell the staff go out of there way for the residents. No matter what it takes, I’ve seen it. I recently got my lease renewal letter and yes, there is an increase. As I’ve always had an increase wherever I’ve lived at the end of my lease. When I went to renew my lease the staff explained to me the rental market, they gave me an understanding to what was once confusing to me and now makes since. I had never lived at an apartment where the staff will go out of their way to make sure you understand things and you’re happy. There a small staff and really tackle issues. My building had a prior water leak as things happen in apartments (((the same thing happened at my PRIOR apartment – OUT OF STATE – and was not handed to my satisfaction and was completely unorganized))) the staff at Discovery Landing responded quicker than I even knew what was going on and fixed everything, they explained to me what happened and guided me through my renters insurance claim. They called in proper construction immediately and took care of me with respect and concern of anything. They updated me daily and gave me the construction schedule and an anticipated completion date. They made me feel like they really cared of my inconvenience, I felt at ease.

I would like to agree with most of the reviews I've read here. Honestly, this place is ok. Apartments are nice, but you can hear your neighbors footsteps very loudly if there is an apartment above you. There is never any parking. So called visitor parking is always filled with cars that are supposed to move after 48 hours but that never happens. They did enforce it for a good month though. Your allotted 1 parking spot then you can be placed on a "parking list" which I was told I was already added to but that wasn't true. I watched multiple new residents move in and get 2 parking spots. Maybe they know the managers prior to moving here or something, but I've waited for over a year for a 2nd spot (even willing to pay the fee for it). I have even asked about it multiple times and was told none were available. The maintenance team is great, fixed things when needed and always friendly. The amenities are usable and nice addition to have. Prior to moving out, I've spoke with some other residents who mentioned they had their water shut off for multiple hours with out any notice a few months prior. Even though it was to fix leaks and needed to be done, I feel they should have at least notified those affected by it. (lucky it didn't happen to me). I would say its ok to live here but definitely look around for better options.

I called and emailed the leasing office for over (2) weeks and all contacts went unanswered and never heard from anyone. So, I decided to go to the leasing office in person. They told me my desired unit would be available in (3) weeks and to apply online. I tried to apply online, but their system was down. I called and emailed the leasing for over (1) week. They finally respond to my messages. The leasing office told me if I wanted to reserve my desired apt. unit, I had to mail a money order for $ 240.00 and the application to their office. I bought the m.o. (money order) and completed the application and told them I would bring the m.o. and application to their office after work. When I brought the money and application into the office the leasing agent told me they had just rented out my specific, desired apartment unit. The leasing office never called or emailed me to tell me another application was submitted while I was at work. Leasing office NEVER apologized, didn't care I had NO place to move too, AND now I'm stuck with a $ 240.00 money order payable to Discovery Landing. Very unprofessional, unorganized, lack common sense. ??. office to bring all the proper

I'll start off with some positives about living at discovery landing apartments. The property is very well kept and the maintenance and office workers are very nice and professional. If anything needs to be fixed they get it done fast. I was lucky enough to get a corner apartment that is very quiet and away from lots of cars and noise which is nice. The office gym is mediocre at best with some basic machines but better than nothing. Even with the amenities it doesn't justify the huge rent increases I've had over the last few years which as much as I'd love to stay I am being forced to move to a more reasonable priced apartment. At my current rent of well over 1,000$ for a 1 bedroom I might as well move back to west seattle or even across the street into a 2 bedroom.
